WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So mike is going to join the board! You heard him "Those who can't go to the internet." Welcome to the world of the internet mike.

Mike O'Meara:

He doesn't care. But he does.

I do get the impression that Robb or Mike occasionally jumps on this forum to defend the show. Maybe they should spend more time prepping for their day jobs instead of screwing around online and then "phoning it in."

I dont understand why Mike just doesnt accept and embrace his low ratings. When the D&M show was doing poorly, Don used to make fun of it on air and even came up with jingles. At least Don had the "who gives a "f": mentaility and made light of it. Mike wont even openly talk about it which indicates to me that he is running scared.....

That's what I think the over-all problem with the show is. Don lived his life on the radio and was an open book. Mike has the George Bush mentaility, ie. he is smarter than all of us, everything is a big secret, and we should all go "f" ourselves. That obviously makes for some compelling radio....

Should we start calling him "Mike Rosenberg" or "Peter O'Meara"?

That's cold, even by my standards.

Pretty soon he's going to be DJ-ing at Mickey D's and hosting one of the "hottest shows in New York" and 6 am Sunday morning.

My favorite impressions by Mike are Frank Sinatra and Richard Nixon. They are featured on some Bubbamania promos back in 1982.

Another of life's failures - Mike kicked his old friends to the curb when he became "famous" and took the job at WAVA with Don. It was "beneath" him to socialize or celebrate birthdays with us.

You mean like the multi-billionaires who run Google? Or the multi-billionaire who runs iTunes?

Nothing says "can do" like being a dead-end disc jockey on a dead-end radio station. Better get home, Mikey, so Karla "can do" whatever she does with your diminishing income.

23rd place and the show meeting its demise on the 23rd, coincidence? I think not!

They're already plugging another Absynth show. How exciting. Something tells me that if we turned off the MOS and tuned back in 15 years from now, they'd still be scheduling the same "go-to", b/s, lame old skits and routines. They havent come up with an original idea in months. How can anyone at CBS think that this is great radio??????? At least the Junkies and Big O can sit around and talk about nothing for 4 hours and make it somewhat interesting. Mike has nothing to say and he's in the radio business............

Boy, I sure hope Robb talks a lot today! He's so darn funny, and knowing things about '60's and '70's television makes him so intelligent! And he's not starved for attention at all! When he talks, its never because he craves attention, its always because he has something clever or amusing to add! Heck, sometimes he is both clever AND amusing!

Another excuse for Mike to get drunk on the air.

Do they still do Drunk Friday? Or did management finally realize nobody likes to sit around and listen to a drunk guy talk about himself, on the air or otherwise?

And let's ask listeners to phone in their "saddest story" to win $100 (which Mike and the gang then vote on). Sounds like Jack Diamond sctick for the house frau's.

How about having the listeners call in with stories that would interest their listening demographics (18-40 year old males).......

Clicked on the first podcast link I've tried to stomach in (literally) MONTHS, and was turned off instantly, again. Maybe it's me, but the way Mike pronounces "inaugural" bugs the hell out of me ("In-ORG-yoor-al").

I grew up on the NY/CT border, and knew lots of people raised in the area he claims to be from (Glastonbury/Hartford)...and have never heard it pronounced that way.

While I doubt O'Meara will be gone after the 23rd, it wouldn't be unusual for a radio station not to announce a change like this until it actually happens.

24) WPFW and WJFK and WAVA and WHFS-AM and WIYY and WBJC and WAFY and WPOC..

This is a disaster! Somebody fire Michael Hughes. Seriously, how many lives does that cat have?

WPFW = Leftwing talk
WPOC = A Baltimore station. It's not even supposed to be measured in this market.
WBJC = Baltimore classical.
WAFY = A Frederick radio station.
WIYY = A Baltimore rock station.
WHFS-AM = An AM Talker
WAVA = Christian.

I mean, seriously. Fire this guy!

Previous posts suggest some of you have heard Mike making reference to (and railing against) boards like this one, that give him and the staff a (justified) hard time for his crap show.

Given that, and the fact that there's a sizeable CBS investment riding on this show and its associated talent contracts, it wouldn't surprise me to hear them on the air next week just to spite the haters. (I count myself among the haters, of course.)

Gotta admire their spunk, however misguided it may be.

Would I love to hear them gone next Monday? YES. Will it happen? I'm less confident than I was.

CBS doesn't give a shit about boards like this. They care about stockholders. When they have their shareholder meeting in April, after the First Quarter has ended, the shareholders are going to ask "what are you doing to fix your bottom line?" Somewhere in that crowd will be a couple of Pension Fund Managers who know what is going on with the high salaries at various CBS stations. If Mike is still here, the CBS suits will get their asses reamed. I imagine the CBS suits would like to avoid that if at all possible.

Let me redo this for the AssHat.

Look at all the fat that could be trimmed:

1.Joe answers phones for 4-5 callers a day = $$$$$$$$$$$$
2.Katie has to man the dump button = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
3.Beth Ann lines up junk guests = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
4.Buzz responds to instant messages all day = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
5.Rob says a couple of words per show = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
6.Mike does the show = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
7.oh yeah and the Buzz Babes and Events = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then add the Junkies
8. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
9. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
10. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
11. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And the Junkies support staff Producer, call screener, dump button, Junkettes, events etc.
12. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
13. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
14. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
15. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then add O & D
16. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
17. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Add their support staff Producer, call screener, dump button, etc
18. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
19. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
20. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
21. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then add Health Insurance, 401k, etc.
22. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
23. = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And all this money and effort for LAST PLACE station that is getting beat by a freaking gospel station. You have at least a 23 person salary staff that is coming in LAST PLACE. Compare this to a music format.

Board Op for music = $$$$$
Music = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ratings - better than last
Sales staff Happy that they have a product that they can sell.

The fact is if WJFK goes to a sports format, which appears to be what is happening given the amount of sports coverage on the station, it will never be a Top 10 station. Hence, they will need to reduce costs to be profitable. That means fat-ass Mike and crew need to go.

No kidding. Like Cos is really a big "get" these days.

I bet poor Beth Ann actually had to pick up the phone herself to line this one up. On second thought, I'm sure this booking was arranged by someone WAY above her pay grade.

I think the Cosby get is actually a pretty big deal, given how crappy the station's ratings are. However, Cosby hasn't been the same since his son was murdered. If you have listened to him in recent years, he seems to ramble incoherently. Not sure if there is an emotional issue there, or if he is just way past his prime.

Hey, everyone - buckle your seatbelts...today's BIG interview is - wait for it - the out-going Air Force One Pilot! Isn't that exciting? What a score! How DOES this show get such high-quality, big name, A-Listers every.single.day. Must listen radio!

Pull the plug! Put this show out of its misery. The MOM jumped the shark on Day One, really.

I write this a longtime listener, circa WAVA days.

Questions from Mike O'Meara (keep in mind these are summarized. Expect a five-minute set up for each one where Mike won't let the guest talk).

1. What's the craziest thing you ever had happen on Air Force One? (knowing that the pilot isn't going to say shit about it)

2. What's it like flying the President?

3. Did you fly the plane on 9/11 or over New Orleans after Katrina? (I assume the answer will be "no.")

4. Do you have an escape pod on the plane like in that movie with Harrison Ford?

5. What do you think of that pilot who landed in the Hudson River?

He will probably also ask some things about how the plane can evade attack, etc, which the pilot won't answer.

Expect Mike to do a lot of talking and virtually no answers to any of his questions.

The out-going Air Force One pilot! Thanks for telling me! I'm going to cancel all my appointments for the afternoon so I can give my undivided attention to this fascinating interview.
Is Don on the phone? Get him and see if he can slap some sense into O'Meara.

And don't forget, Mike will be trying his damndest to get the pilot to say that George W. Bush is a dick, and Barack Obama is the Messiah. I have a feeling Lard-O O'Meara will be disapointed.

No military officer is going to tell any interviewer shit, at least shit that would be of interest to listeners, about Air Force One or the President. The guy has probably spent 20 years in the service keeping his mouth shut. He isn't going to open it now.

Get a fucking grip, dude.

Look at my posting history - I am consistently critical of O'Smegma. My question was an honest one - do the folks that originally predicted the 1/23 date still feel as confident about it now that it's a day away?

Wow, you almost hit a home-run with the questions Mike asked to the pilot. What I think is even funnier is how they all fall all over their on air guests. Mike and Rob couldnt kiss their butts more. Buzz just sits there and does his smokers laugh. Never happened on the Don and Mike Show...

The other laugh is how uncomfortable Buzz is whenever Mike gets up and leaves the broadcasting room momentarily and leaves the mc'ing to Buzz. He doesnt know what to say so he just rambles. Buzz should not have any function of the show unless it's scripted. He is probably better suited on WTOP....

Buzz should read car commercials. That's it.

Robb shouldn't even be allowed on the air. His ad for Rogaine is ridiculous. The dude is bald!

I believe that the OP said that today was the show's last day. Of course it would be on today....just not after today.

Not saying that it is the last day, but you aren't making any sense...Mike, Robb, Joe or Buzz (given the tirade, I believe you are Mike).

I don't know if it is or not. I wasn't the one who made the prediction.

I will say that it isn't unheard of in radio for announcements to be made on the last day of the show. If the show is on Monday, then you can rant and rave at the dude who made the original prediction. That wouldn't be me.

Clearly the show isnt at the top of the ratings, them acknowledging that makes it very clear. But I could write something like,

DC Ratings 18-36 years old 1.WFAN 2.WJFK or whatever. It wouldnt make it true. The show is still on. And that just chaps all your lil red asses, doesnt it?

I'm not making excuses. If the show doesn't end today, so be it. It will end sometime, and soon. Odds are if Michael Hughes has been fighting to keep Mike on the air, he will be gone, too.

Oh, and for anyone who might be on here from WJFK thinking that you are being loyal to the station, I have three words for you: Ron & Fez. Loyalty is a one-way street in the radio business. If you haven't figured it out yet, you soon will.
