It's not about race... it's about knowing where people are coming from... You can see where people are coming from by how they look sometimes... but a lot of times... assuming you know someone by how they look can get you in trouble...
Of course I see color... I'm not blind... but I'm not racist enough to assume that, because someone is black, that I need to talk to them a certain way...
I don't need to switch to "black code"... that's racist...
