Re: Obama Wants Payroll Tax Cuts- Republicans NO WAY!

This is NOT a payroll tax cut. He just wants to extend the benefit into 2012 that we've had in 2011. All it means is that the Social Security Deduction on the employee's side would stay at 4.2% instead of going back to 6.2%, where it has been for many years. Considering the shape that Social Security is in, does anyone really think that this should be a really good thing for our President to do? No. Or, hell no. The small amount of extra money that one gets in their check is not going to do anything substantial with such a small amount of money.
Instead, Obama should be thinking of ways to get fuel costs down. Why is it that a gallon of gasoline now costs $1.50 - $1.80 more per gallon than when he got into office? It's not just our weekly commutes being more expensive due to higher gas costs. However, everything we buy has jumped up in price because of the higher fuel costs. Food his higher, airline flights are higher, shipping items is higher. The energy policy of Mr. Obama, or should I say, lack there of, needs to change. He needs to consider re-reviewing his opinion of opening up more drilling for oil. We have the resources in the ground that are ready to be drawn out. It's just a matter of loosening some of the heavy regulation to permit this to occur.
I'd rather see my Social Security withholdings go back to 6.2%, plus pair it with additional cuts in services and sizes of government agencies. More government and larger government is not the answer. Opening up some of the grips on allowing companies to get off the ground and hire people should be the focus.
Sadly, though, a large part of the Liberal population will never see the logic in this.
