If you look at Ohio history there were three great waves of migration
from Kentucky. First, in 1803 after Ohio became a State and again
right after the War of Northern Aggression. The last wave was after
WW-II when thousands upon thousands once again left Kentucky for Ohio,
this time in search of work in manufacturing. As far as calling Kentucky
and extension of Ohio goes, if you were to visit a local bar in the
area between Dayton and Cincinnati and say that they'd probably hit
you over the head with a barstool. Kentuckians who move to Ohio are
called "Briarhoppers" because much of Northern Ky. is covered with
blackberry bushes and it's easier to jump over them than to cut them
down. Hamilton, Ohio is truly Hillbilly country and this song sums
up the local Kentucky culture. Note in the first few seconds the
folks jumping and dancing. It's called the Briarhopper Hop.
