Yes, I'm sure the pub will be open til 2am like usual.

I'm sure Clydes will stay open until 1:30 or 2am, as will most of the usual drinking establishments.

When I drove by J Gilberts earlier, their parking lot was packed. But they generally have last call around 10:30-10:45, and try to get people out of there by 11:00 - 11:15.

and of course, there's always DC. I'm not sure if the bars will get to stay open until 3:00 am since tomorrow is a holiday, or not.

The pub in mclean will certainly be open. As will most of the other similar "dive bar" type places, I'm sure.

I think Clydes might also be open, as well as some of the bars in Reston Towne Center (I think they only open the bars late in the day, and keep the restaurants closed, if I remember)

I was looking something up related to this and found that VA has a law that requires 45 percent of restaurant sales to be food (annually)... crazy stupid. I love our backwards state.

I thought everyone knew that already, that's why there are no pure "bars" in VA. Though I've never figured out how that can even work for most restaurants, in the first place. I guess that's why so many bars give food away during "happy hours". That way they can show on their books the proper amount of food purchases for the amount of alcohol they purchase.

VA is still better than some states. Like Kansas, where they only allow private membership clubs to sell alcohol, or South Carolina where bars can only sell liquor in the airline bottles, or Oklahoma where grocery stores and other places can only sell 3% beer, and to get normal 5% beer you have to go to a liquor store. Or how about all the dry towns and counties in PA?

I should have been more specific bob..I was a cocktail waiter so I knew there are no pure saloons. I was shocked by the 45% rule. I would cap it at 33 tops, 25 more likely.

Oh and according to some article I read VA is ultra-lax about the reporting requirements for food sales... supposedly you have to be born yesterday to honestly report it to the state and it is common knowledge amongst bar owners that the state looks the other way. VA loves to pass strict laws and then ignore them.

PA's liquor laws are way more convoluted and outdated than Virginia's. Taxes are lower here too.

I don't think they should have any percentage requirement. How can a restaurant owner really control how much of one or the other people consume from one day to the next? Maybe a little, but to put it into a law just seems arbitrary.
