Haha. I don't "hang out" at The PUB. I maybe go in there 4-5 times a year. In fact I haven't even gone to a FFX county bar since the last forum meetup. And The PUB isn't some sleazy dive-bar. It's fairly worn around the edges, but there's nothing dirty or loser-ish about it, and it's not a place where rednecks or white trash hang out. If I had to nominate a local bar that fell into that category, I'd have to say it is JV's, or a place called "Frank's" near East Falls Church, which is now closed.

It'd be funny to see a thread about shithole dive bars, I bet there'd be some funny stories. I love going to places like that.

shelby mustang? McKeever's Pub? The only thing I've ever had to say about McKeevers on this forum is that I haven't been there since they decided to make it non-smoking. As for the shelby mustang, I guess the guy you have a crush on might drive one. I owned an SVT Cobra mustang years ago, but the engine blew and I sold it long ago. There's a huge difference between a shelby and an SVT cobra.

I hope FU doesn't consider the PUB to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, because that place sucks. It's unfortunate because the place has great potential. The people that go there make it douchebag central and it seems the goal (mainly those that sit at the bar) is to get drunk as quickly as possible and make an ass of themselves.

They do have a good poker game in the back.. I'll give the PUB credit for that.

I've never even been inside, so I am going to go ahead and make a rash judgement just based on the door and sign, shown in a pic posted at some point: the place is a dump.

Yes, it is a dump.

Well, not really a "dump" but it is definitely a bar where you don't walk in and say "I love the ambience". If you like to drink, and you like to bullshit with people and just have a carefree time while having a few beers, you might like it.

It's definitely a place to meet no-nonsense people who dont judge you because you drink. Plus,David, the owner, is really cool. WHen he went to Taiwan after his Father Died, his Wife ran the place for a few weeks, and she was even cooler than David. She got to know everyone and was proud of her sons at Harvard and Yale, one of whom is finishing his Med School this year.

The PUB is not a dump, and trust me, I've hung out in plenty of real shitholes. Go to any small town in PA and stop in one of the neighborhood bars, you'll find some TOTAL dumps- places that give you the creeps and make the PUB seem like a Friday's. The PUB reminds me of the places we used to hang out in back in college, when you only had 20 bucks in your pocket and wanted to party. A fun kinda drinking place where you don't feel the need to impress people. Granted, it's not the McLean Hilton; it doesn't have fancy décor or some kind of theme. It's theme is "drinking some beers and doing some shots", and it does that well.

Also, I've never seen shady behavior or creepy people in there like some others have mentioned- it's in freekin McLean fer chrissakes! That's not exactly the wrong side of the tracks!

I guess I can take back my comment just based on this place Frederick that Genevieve and I go to to watch an old friend play in his band, called "Krug's Place". The bathrooms are not usable for sober individuals, and the external and internal atmosphere is that of a wrecked frathouse.

Actually, a wrecked frathouse may have a clean bathroom. It wa sjust the first analogy I could come up with. Perhaps I will venture to this "pub" tonight and see what is what.

No the Pub is a pretty sleazy place. I just saw a major fight break out in the parking lot over the weekend there. Not the safest place to be.
