Let's see - 4 out the last 5 District titles; 2 out of the last 3 Regional titles; 2 Semi-final apperances and a trip to the big show in the last 5 years.

If you are a QB or Wideout, LB's program has curb appeal, 5-Wide and slanging it 65-70 times a game. If I'm a QB, that's where I would look to go, or at least check it out. Face it, people tend to follow where the winning is, at one point of time it was Robinson, more recently it was Westfield - Royal and the Roysters didn't initially live in the Bulldog boundary. There is movement to either the private schools or the programs that win.

There are no guarantees IF the kid joins the Bruins, there are still some holes left by graduation and the loss of defensive guru Francese leaves a lot of question marks on Burke Lake Rd.

UNFORTUNATELY Class in sesh is right. IF the Hendersons really moved into the LB district then he can play for LB. If a family is willing to actually move to a particular schools area they have met the criteria to transfer. If I were a FCPS official or a LB district opponent I would want to see some documentation that they had actually moved into the LB district.

Royster and Royal both should have gone to other schools, both were pupil placed at Westfield with legit reasons, HOWEVER; FCPS is taking a much harder look at this now. If your school has a winning program it will draw hard core players looking to gain the attention of College coaches. Whether or not Daddy Henderson gets on the LB staff will be the real test of the LB administration. The kid already has the attention to draw 5 FBS offers so now he is looking to set records. The real shame is other areas (757) have no transfer rules, if you can get your kid to the school, bring it on. That is why the Phoebus and Oscar Smiths continue to win. They pull players from all over Hampton and Chesapeake to play football for them. Stone Bridge had the same advantage before Briar Woods and Tuscarora opened up in Ashburn.

As a former coach on the WP staff I can tell you Coach Henderson spent countless hours getting kids into college over 100 kids playing college football at some level in the past 10 years and the DSA fires him because he has no backbone or original thoughts of his own. Caleb and Jon going to another school is great for both kids WP is a terrible run school with so many issues that I cant understand why 20% of the students are allowed to just walk the halls all day or eat all four lunch shifts with no reprcussions to them.

As for football that was a bright spot for the school, until they hire Everett he will bring the option to WP and kill the program.

Apparently Lake Braddock football is going to win a state championship this fall because they have the two missing links QB Caleb Henderson and LB John Henderson. I wonder how the current LB players that have played these positions feel that they have lost their positons without any competition. I thought tryouts began in August? Or is the missing link the father coach?

What fairytale world are you all living in, where you think that life is supposed to be fair? Other parents can't do anything about people moving into the same boundaries, so you can call or write anyone all you want, nothing will be done because there is no infraction here. My son goes to LB and is on the football team, doesn't play much but will need to work harder to change that, which is what he is told regularly. Competition is good whether its against someone that was already on the team or recently transfered in.

There are no guarantees in life, execpt death and taxes. LB will still have to work hard to win the district first then look at the region or states. While its a tough pill to swallow for the QB that was next in line or any of the guys that were going to play LB that there is more competition in the building, they better start working just a little bit harder.

People really should stop crucifing these kids and their family. Talking about their finances and calling him names is a bit over the top. If you were the kids, why would you want to stay at West Potomac after they have fired your father for whatever reason?

You can't just get your drivers license changed and get into another school. if you move, you have to have a signed lease or mortgage contract. And nowadays, in VA, you need multiple docs to get your license changed.

Now if Coach Henderson gets on the staff, one can't discount he was a head coach of a D6 school in the Northern Region, he can't be totally clueless. No my son did not play football. Her did play basketball and was in a similar situation when people moved into the area. Was I excited? Nope. I was looking forward to seeing him on the court as much as he was going to play. And while things happened which changed his status on the team, his lack of desire and the others' strong desire resulted in his not playing as much as he wanted.

Life is NOT always fair. But, nor should ANYTHING be handed to us. We get knocked on our ass. But instead of picking ourselves up and dusting ourselves off and getting back into the game, we whine, complain, and scream “It’s not my fault!”. We end up placing blame elsewhere. We have changed as a people. We "want", "demand", and "expect" to get OURS.

I applaud you. What you said is one of the most rational posts here. I stated in an earlier post that I support the Hendersons and that WP, most importantly, lost a coach of high character. Henderson focused on more than football for his team. He has excelled despite adversity, and built character with his players. I recognize I will probably be lambasted by some Henderson detractors here, but I've met Henderson and his sons. And, no question, Henderson didn't use the best judgement in sending out the infamous email. However, he turned a disjointed team into a winning program built for the future and (I believe)won a pretty significant teaching award last year.
People on here have criticized Henderson for transferring for football reasons, not being able to manage his finances, short selling his house, and having a nasty wife. Really? Really?? Shame on any adult posting this stuff here.
If the Hendersons are moving or have moved, aren't they obligated to attend a new school? And if they aren't obligated, don't they have a choice to go to the new school if they want to? Who said the Henderson twins have 'secured' the starting spot? Anyone posting here the head coach of LB? I would think the players will play based on their merits and potential in practice. I would think the coach wouldn't just play the Henderson twins because they're Hendersons. I think his job is to get wins. If the Henderson twins aren't the best players there, why would he play them?
As for the other stuff-who cares? Does that matter to academics, football, or the price of tea in china? To the parents who now have kids in class with the Henderson twins, what would you like to have a say in? What classes they attend? What schools they attend? Have the Henderson kids already had such a negative impact on the school population (how long have they been in class?) that they need to be ostracized? Try to empathize with these kids and their parents. Put yourself in their position. First of all, opinion or fact? No one knows the circumstances except the Hendersons. Secondly, what benefit do you get by mudslinging? I challenge anyone who posted personal daggers to have some gravitas and apologize. If you don't I'm sure no one will think less of you; if you do, well, maybe you'll be more reluctant to throw the unwarranted daggers the next time.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Most high schoolers aren't privileged enough to have their driver's license until their junior year. West Potomac's 6-foot-3, sophomore quarterback Caleb Henderson remains license-less like his fellow peers, but he does have some experience in the driving category.

The shaggy-haired, blue-eyed gunslinger has engineered West Potomac's best regular season since 2007. He may also be the most dynamic quarterback in the Northern region. Henderson threw for 1,846 yards, rushed for another 458 and accounted for 24 total touchdowns along the way, proving that the youngster rightfully earned the keys to the offense. And who exactly made the intelligent decision to thrust Caleb into the limelight? The man he carpools with every single day: his father and West Potomac head coach Eric Henderson.

"I bark at Caleb a lot and we have high expectations for him," said Henderson, now in his eighth season at West Potomac. "This isn't about being the fruits of Coach Henderson's son; this is about being a valuable member of the team and being responsible."

Coach Henderson's other son Jon is a fierce middle linebacker who hasn't missed a game even after several shoulder dislocations.

If you go out to practices around the area, most head coaches will be observant and watch from afar -- not Eric Henderson. The head coach runs timing drills with defensive linemen, blowing his whistle and clapping his hands. It's refreshing to see a head coach that involved during a practice. But that isn't what separates coach Henderson from his rivals around the area. As cliché as it is, it seems like Henderson actually does look at all other 52 Wolverines like they are his own blood.

Henderson made it his mission to completely transform the program's academic standards. When he first took over only three of his players obtained a 3.0 GPA or above. Now, over two-thirds of the team has qualified for the honor roll achievement.

"That doesn't get hung up on a wall or put in a box score," said Henderson about the academic improvements.

He also mentioned several of his players come from single parent families.

"As far as me sleeping at night and knowing that I've served these kids well and not just used them on the football field, we feel pretty good about that," he said.

One of the smallest teams in the Virginia playoffs, the Wolverines have gotten this far because of their tireless work ethic. Check out Henderson in action during the Wolverines' 45-10 victory against Annandale in week five.

The Wolverines aren't going to sit back and wait for a team to make mistakes; they are going to be the attackers. By the looks of the serious tone at practice, Chantilly will have its hands full Friday night with a senior-laden West Potomac team focused on executing on the field for coach Henderson.

In case anyone is wondering, this isn't my post. This is someone, again, mudslinging the henderson's. You're right, whoever you are, the program will continue without Henderson. Just like it continued without the coach before Henderson. Primary difference being, when Henderson took over the program was in the valley and Henderson elevated it to a peak. Now, whoever takes the program over has some big shoes to fill and will probably look to blame whoever or whatever for anything that goes wrong.

My sources tell me Henderson did not rent a house in Burke. They still live in wp area. They produced a "future" lease. Rumor has it, Hendo will be hired as a teacher and coach at LB which would make his kids eligible in the 2012-13 school year no matter where he lives but for now he is doing what hendo does best - not being honest about things. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Talk about mean spirited posts. The one about the wp dsa office people was really bad. Some Hendo football character. LB better keep a close watch on things.

I've known Caleb for almost ten years. He is a GREAT kid and as long as I've known him, his dream has been to play football as competitively and for as long as he can. The kid works HARD- he trains whenever he possibly can and goes to any camps he can get to, in order to get better at the sport he loves. He loves playing the game of football and no one can say that he hasn't worked hard to get where he is.

He's a sixteen year old boy, so it would be nice if folks on here, at the least the ones who ARE adults, would behave like adults. He's a kid who has goals in his life that include football and he works VERY hard toward those goals. That is a quality that most adults find admirable in a kid his age, so why are people bashing him?

I wasn't even remotely involved with the drama at West Potomac that resulted in his father's contract not being renewed (he wasn't fired, his contract wasn't renewed... difference..), but I can tell you that Caleb wants to play football. He left the friends he's had his entire life to change schools. I'm sure he was hurt, as a casualty of all that happened with his father. If his parents feel that he's better off starting fresh at another school, that is their decision. No one's business. I'm sure that Caleb will compete for the QB position at LB. The boy LOVES to compete and my guess is that he'll win the job... simply because he is talented and he works his butt off to be a good quarterback.

Caleb was on my 7 on 7 team a week before he quit. He quit because there were 4 QBs better than him and he knew he would not gET PT. The first practice he was talking trash to us saying how he would complete every pass but we picked him off twice and he completed one pass. He likes to compete my ass hes scared of competitionn and players on the team said he started because of his dad. I hope we play him this year so I can level his sorry cocky ass.

"he wasn't fired, his contract wasn't renewed... difference" .... WOW!! do you really believe that? If you do, you are the biggest Dolt at WP. Of course he was FIRED. He was Fired for cause... If LB hires him it will prove that they have no ethics and will do whatever it takes to win.

The published email by itself is enough to never have him on a FCPS staff again. Add the other allegations and he should never be allowed to Coach High School kids again. Now we are hearing that the Hendersons have not moved, that they are playing the "we will be moving" card until LB hires him so they can pupil place the kids. KEEP SHINING THE LIGHT ON THIS SITUATION! You know they are hoping no one is looking and they can slide Ex Coach Henderson into the school, taking a job away from a deserving teacher, just so the kids can play there.
