Pull the Plug on the Virginia Hybrid Tax: Repeal the $64 tax that will be added to Hybrid owners car taxes
Posted by: ms hybrid ()
Date: July 08, 2013 11:52AM

VA has instated a $64 tax to Hybrid Owners. Please sign this petition if you see how unfair it is to punish someone who paid more for their car to save money on gas and help earth sustain it's resources.

Online petitions are useless.

Also, we should double the $64 to $128 and charge them more.

You didn't buy the car to help earth sustain its (and yes, it's its, moron) resources, you bought it because you wanted to use HOV by yourself. Consider the $64 an HOV user fee for loners.

Exactly. We should probably also tax some of the big gas guzzlers too. Those who shell out big money for SUV's and trucks should also be able to pay an extra $64 tax on their vehicles too.

Fair share my ass, you evidently don't know how much the gas tax is for normal people. Most people spend $100 total on the gas tax per year in a SUV. Hybrid have to pay the $64 flat fee and the fuckin gas tax like everyone else. So shut the fuck up cunt

At least they aren't using the White House petition site, that thing is hilarious how many people take it seriously.

The tax is for maintaining the roads. Because under the gas tax, hybrids caused as much damage to the roads and used them as much as a non-hybrid vehicle, they were essentially getting a free ride by not contributing their fair share via the gas tax. The user fee added this year evens the playing field. Pay your fair share and shut up.

Why are you opposed to paying for road improvements?

Thats not even vaguely true you fucking moron. load fatigue is dependent on weight. Hybrids weigh a shit ton less than trucks and SUVs, and yet they are paying the same for this "maintenance" as those vehicles. Trucks and SUVs cause nearly 100 times more fatigue load damage to pavements as a hybrid sedan.

You cunt

Hmm. How many miles per gallon is the hybrid getting? Yeah, do yourself a favor and sit down and pout like the lil bitch you are.

I will sign it once it is amended to include two provisions:

1) Sunset all remaining HOV benefits in the state that now go to vehicles that are common and mainstreamed.

2) Exempt all vehicles, hybrid or not, that are rated at above 35mpg highway from the tax.

The "I paid more for their car" argument is not universal and therefore shouldn't be used as a justification for your petition... plenty of people buy hybrids for performance, not for environmental or economic reasons. And there are many hybrids that cost more than some conventional fuel vehicles that get better mpg. For examples, there are only 3 2013 Lexus hybrid vehicles that get over 30mpg highway. A less expensive Honda Civic gets 39mpg highway and will use much less fuel... the consumer made the choice what to buy.

Can you prove that hybrids cause as much damage to roads as regular cars?

right. are you taxing turbodiesel drivers also? the jettas get what, 45mpg? that's more than most hybrids.

anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that this law is just red meat to throw in front of the conservative troglodytes. funny that mcdonnell shot himself in the foot by raising sales taxes and thus losing their support anyway. good thing all that extra transportation money is repaving 286 down by fair lakes where they JUST PAVED IT a couple months ago.

Okay, well first of all, I didn't make that "assertion". It's obviously not true. Secondly, you made your "assertion" first. Regardless, it can surmised by any logical person that due a vehicles increased weight, it would cause increased fatigue on the road. Your argument was that a vehicles must pay for it's share of damage caused by using roadways. So by your own logic, SUV's, pick-ups, and tractor-trailers would all have to pay their "fair" share, i.e. increased taxation. Now personally I don't think that we need more taxes, but hey, you're entitled to your own opinions.

You may need those two remaining brain cells. NJ, MA, WA all have/had similar laws before them. They did it to throw red meat to conservatives. Try harder, you are failing.

Just $64? I thought it was going to be $100--and just for electrics. I'm not sure I'm even going to get hit with the $64 because I think the dealer reflexively checked "Gasoline" (or whatever it said) on the title and plate registration instead of "Electric". I didn't buy the thing to get out of gas taxes anyway--I'm netting about $210/month from NOT having to buy gas after the small increase ($25/mo) in my electric bill from the car charging and then basically another $90/mo for the next 8 yrs thanks to Uncle Sam's electric car subsidy.

That sucks for hybrids, though. They are basically getting taxed extra for great gas mileage but they are still buying gas...

Libs always support new and additional taxes, since they never intend to pay themselves. Hope this one sticks. Better yet if the douchebag libs' tax was $2000/yr. At least then they'd have to pay something.

$2000/yr is fair if you would have purchased $57,000 worth of gas that year. The new VA gas tax rate is 3.5%.

Commercial trucks pay their fair share via a diesel tax. Now let's get back to reality and the topic at hand.

Did I upset your delicate sensibilities?

Take a look at how they handle those other vehicles. The only dumbass here is the one that made the dumbass assumption about this being red meat for conservatives. When you can get out of preschool, let us know, mmmkay?

Commercial vehicles do, SUVs and F350s dont douche. SO YEA PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE DOUCHE

F350 weighs about 3 times what a prius does, therefore it causes 100times more fatigue damage.

80% of the hybrids in VA exist in NOVA, so yea it was red meat for downstate douchebags that already rob all of NOVAs money

Well, I just can't seem to fix your stupidity. Good luck with that. I suppose all those conservatives in the state legislatures of MA, WA and NJ were thinking the same thing.

Maybe if you say douche one more time, your point might be salient. That being said, not many SUVs run on diesel. Personal vehicles running on diesel pay twice the tax as gasoline drivers and fill up more often. See the difference, moron?

> F350 weighs about 3 times what a prius does,

Curb weight is not 3 times the weight and how many times do you see wannabes in their F350s around here fully weighted?

You must think the battery in your fagmobile is as light as air.

What a crock of shit republicans and big oil are pulling. Taxing people for being efficient with alternative energy cars.

How about we add a $100 extra tax on Minivan. pickup and SUV's since they wear out roads quicker with heavier vehicles.

What ever happened to "I'll LOWER your tax." I guess republicans forgot why we elected them. Same old bullshit GOP.

HAHAHA so in your mind the average prius weighs the same as a F-series truck. So then they all should pay the same in maintenance

Hey fuck face, that being the case, even if the truck was unloaded, its STILL FUCKING CAUSES 40-80times MORE DAMAGE TO THE FUCKIN ROAD YOU FUCKING COCK SUCKING DOUCHE

Suck my dick

I see English is about as difficult for you as math. Where did I indicate that? Please point to the specific sentence where that contention was made.

Nah. I'll leave that to your boyfriend.

There you go again demonstrating your trouble with the English language. Where did I admit that? Be specific.

Is this your standard canned response when you get trapped in a corner? We can add logical reasoning skills to your deficient math and English skills.

Umm, this thread isn't about income taxes. It is about a hybrid fee. Don't tell me you lack basic reading comprehension skills as well. Are you one of those ditch diggers that I hear the world needs? You don't seem to have the intellectual skills for much more.

Fuck'em.

Lets increase the tax to $3000 to encourage all those hybrid-driving pussies to move to Maryland or DC.

Explain why a heavy ass truck that causes multiple times more damage to roads should pay the same as a hybrid fuck face

Till then, you are the little weasle not backing up your statements with any facts FUCKING ANUS

You said prove it about 15 posts ago, I did, then you went on about other horse shit that doesnt say a damn thing about the fact that hybrids and trucks shouldnt pay the same amount towards road maintenance

so suck it

Ahh, so this is you ducking the issue. Trucks have horrible fuel efficiency and pay significantly more than hybrids in gas taxes (even with the $67 factored in). Tell me where I said hybrids and trucks weigh the same. This should be good.

And what's with your suck it comments? Is your boyfriend withholding oral pleasure from you and you need to troll for cock on this forum? You may have better luck on other forums that cater to folks like you.

No they really fuckin dont you douche

Gas tax is now 3.5%, gas costs on average lets say $3.80. That comes out to about 13 cents per gallon pumped. The average virginian drives 25 miles per day or about 9100 miles per year, lets call it 10000 to be conservative. The average truck gets 10 mpg, so that comes out to 1000 gallons of fuel per year. That truck driver therefore pays $130 per year in the new gas tax.

A hybrid driver does the same 10000 miles, but gets 40 mpg on average (across the full range of hybrids). Thats 250 gallons, which means they pay $32.50 in gas tax for a total of $96.50 in gas tax payment.

Truck weighs 2 to 3 times more than hybrid, therefore it causes lets say a conservative 50 times more maintenance needs on the road (that is very conservative). In order for the fee to be correct, the amount a hybrid pays vs a truck should be equal to the ratio of the fatigue load damage.

96.50/130 does not equal 1/50

Dumb shit

In fact hybrid cars would have to receive a tax break in order to get that value to 1/50 because even 32.50/130 doesnt equal 1/50

Get it you little troll bitch whore fucking anus chode?

Your fatigue load damage numbers are based upon tractor trailers. NEITHER of your studies addresses POVs. Until you can come up with RELEVANT facts you'll just have to remain a lil bitch whining about having to pay $67/year for your fagmobile.

Dude its all loads. Whether its a big truck and comparing a 40% increase over another big truck or comparing a small car to a SUV. The equation remains the same

1-s2.0-S2090447912000627-gr5.jpg

The life cycle of the asphalt (number of times a load can be applied) plummets when you go from a 2 ton vehicle to a 4 ton vehicle. And when you go from a 4 ton vehicle to a 10 ton vehicle, yes it continues to plummet, but that doesnt mean the same relationship doesnt exist between the 2 ton and 4 ton, in fact its the same because in the case of an 18 wheeler the load is atleast split among 18 wheels (or 1.05 tons per wheel) where as a 4 ton truck is 1.00 tons per wheel. The only difference is an 18 wheeler would be like 4.5 SUVs driving in unison everywhere.

You are a complete imbecile.

How about an extra $100 tax on unmarked vans with
ladder racks? They're usually full of spics who
don't pay any taxes anyhow.

And when are they going to actually ban commercial
vehicles from the 66 HOV lanes. God damn landscaping
trucks pulling trailers. Any vehicle with any work
equipment or any type of business advertising is a
commercial vehicle.

I'm one of those who bought a Lexus hybrid just to
ride the HOVs. Now get the fuck out of my way, losers!
Why the hell should I pay an extra tax when I paid a
premium for my vehicle (helping the economy) plus my
better mileage helps reduce our dependence on foreign
oil and I pollute less as well?

You were saying?

When I asked the mayor’s press office for data to support the claim, I was directed to a study for the Oregon Department of Transportation, which found that “road damage increases much more than proportionately with vehicle weight on a roadway surface.” So I emailed Anthony Rufolo, a Portland State University professor who co-authored the study to ask if that conclusion applied to SUVs and minivans. His response: No.

The study, he told me “has no relevance to passenger vehicles. Passenger vehicles (or light vehicles) have not been found to damage roads. The federal government and various states analyze the appropriate cost allocation between light and heavy vehicles due to road damage. None of the studies attribute much increase in road damage to more use by light vehicles.”

You're high.

Your own chart shows that the relationship is highly nonlinear and you seem to understand that as it favors one aspect of your argument. Then you switch back to trying to make it appear that a relatively very light truck is even in the same range as heavy vehicles.

80KN is about 18,000 lbs./axle (times N axles for purposes of such calculations, not divided by the number of wheels). A standard 1/2 ton pickup or SUV wouldn't show up as much of even a blip on your chart. And once you get below a certain weight, whatever that may be, then it begins to approach insignificant values and other factors like overall traffic levels, weathering and heat/freeze cycles, etc., begin to outweigh (no pun intended) any effect of individual load.

Practically speaking, I seriously doubt that there is any significant difference between load-related wear between a typical light car and light truck. If you want to claim that there is, then find something to support that more directly, not by very stretched extrapolation.

The fact that it has an exponential relationship only makes it that much more dependent on weight you douche. Yes it tapers off, when you are dealing with freight trucks that are worth the same as 8000 car trips, but that doesnt mean that the "light truck" that weighs double that of the sedan doesnt still have exponentially more wear on the asphalt as the sedan.

Weather conditions from frost heave are important, but when you are talking about major roadways, its never the cause of the fatigue, its always load counts.

The reason the difference between light trucks and sedans look insignificant is because that is a logarithmic scale where the high end is thousands of times. But in reality when a truck has 50 times more fatigue caused on a road surface than another car, then that is still a significant amount more (even though its not nearly as much as a commercial freight truck, which pays weight fees by the way).

So go ahead and still suck it

LOL @ entitled hybrid owners. You already get BS grandfathered HOV exemptions which fuck up 66 worse than it needs to be. How dare you pay a bit to make up for the gas tax you pay less of than everyone else (while you screw up the road just as much as everyone else).

As I said, you're trying to play both sides of your argument to your advantage. You want to recognize the function at the high end but then not the same order of magnitude change at the low end.

No, it doesn't "taper off" it falls off a 1,000 ft cliff. lol And, yes it does make it even more dependent on weight in that there's an inverse relationship in terms of rapidly decreasing significance at the low end as there is a rapidly increasing effect at the high end. That is, the function works backwards toward the lower end and more and more against your argument. The less the weight, the less it matters, and the less any difference in value matters.

Well, duh. I believe that was what I said. And, as above, it looks insignificant because, in relative terms, it is insignificant.

Although you appear to have just pulled the 50 times thing out of your ass and it has no basis other than that, even granting it, 50 X nuthin' still is nuthin'.

That is, there is some lower threshold where the difference in weight becomes insignificant. While I don't know what that weight is,looking at your own chart, it would appear to reach that relatively quickly as weight/force decreases given the steep curve and under that curve there are a very large range of values at the low end where no significant difference exists.

Using an extreme example for purposes of illustration, you can run a run a bike over a road forever and have virtually no effect. You can multiply the weight of that bike many times and still have no effect, regardless that the increase in the difference may be 500%.

Nobody here knows me, but trust me, I am no tree hugging, dope smoking hippy.

Not only do I vote GOP, I give money to GOP candidates (though I am more a Ron Paul fan than mainstream, but I also gave Romney some bacon).

I drive a 2012 Camry hybrid. So no Hv love for me (except Route 1 in Old Town, but that is useless).

I have a lead foot and sometimes get 45 mpg in town, but I usually average 37 all up on a tank of gas.

I got the hybrid because I was afraid gas would hit $6/ gallon under the idiot in the Whitehouse.

So to sum it up:
Not all hybrid drivers are left wing faggots
Not all hybrids get 395/66 rights
Not all hybrids get over 50mpg let alone even 40 on average

This tax is bullshit. McDonnelis a douche whose career is over with this kitchen scandal. I've been to multiple events with McDonnel (crap now I just outed myself because how many of his sports own hybrids?) and had hopes for him lie in 2016 but no more.

Right wing hybrid driver,

You're right that not all hybrid owners are left-wing nutjobs. But that doesn't take away from the fact that hybrid (and *especially* electric vehicles) do damage to the road and don't pay the same amount (or at all for electric) in gas taxes. The issue has been muddied somewhat with the increase in the sales tax, but I don't see why it's unreasonable to ask people getting a free (or reduced) ride to pony up a bit.

Now, if you want to quibble with the $64 number...maybe it should be a bit lower. I've seen calculations in the $40 range on average (at Bacons Rebellion a bit back I believe). That seems reasonable. But the idea that hybrid or electric vehicles should just get to be freeriders seems absurd.

PS: I too have a hard-on for McDonnell. I don't know what the dude has been thinking with the gifts BS. I'm optimistic as to how things will turn out but time will tell. (It's sort of telling that the dude still has a 60% approval rating amidst all this stuff.) But his 2016 ambitions do seem to have dimmed considerably.

So wait Hybrids do damage on the road, and yet you wont admit that trucks that weigh 2 to 3 times more do 50-100 times more damage.

You are such a weasel. The only way that the exponential relationship between load and fatigue wouldnt exist is if both elements dont cause ANY damage to the road. You just said that the hybrid causes damage to the road, therefore the truck, which weighs 2 to 3 times more, would do exponentially more damage either 2 to the fourth or 3 to the fourth.

So fuck you and the truck you rode in on. You can't have it both ways douche

Either the hybrid and truck dont cause any damage to roads (not true, and your argument by the extreme was a weak point in your argument to use a bike which weighs literally 300 times less than even a hybrid) or they cause damage, and the object that weighs 2 to 3 times more, does 2^4 or 3^4 more damage. Those are the laws of physics and the characteristics of Bit Asphalt

Hey douche, bikes would cause damage to the road, but it would take 300^4 longer than even a hybrid and it would 800^4 to 1200^4 longer than a light truck, so while you think that is infinite, its not you fuckin douche, its just a really long time.

Suck it you lose

Take your wikipedia bullshit that you don't even understand, and get the fuck out you phony

One, I'm not a tree hugger, and I think the environmental argument for most things is idiotic. This is a financial argument.

Two, you can't even get the numbers right. As has been stated nearly a hundred times in this thread, its $64 and it would have been $100 had it not been for a lot of complaining from the northern virginia delegation.

That is equivalent to how much most people will pay in gas tax in total, ON TOP of the fact that hybrids also pay the regular gas tax at the pump also.

And thirdly, as noted above, it isn't the fair share, because hybrids cause dozens of times less damage than trucks (who dont pay dozens of times more) for the road maintenance.

Ass hat. Luckily you idiots nominated a complete moron for governor, who will lose and the democrat will remove the hybrid tax.

Lot's of reasons to justify it. However, if you want a simple one that you can wrap your head around that no one will disagree with.. here is a reason for the fee:

It's a $64 year penalty/fine for hybrid drivers, who largely drive like slow assholes. It should arguably be higher, but since some hybrid drivers don't drive like douches.. it's only fair.

None of the studies attribute much increase in road damage to more use by light vehicles.”

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chapman/chi-chicagos-vehicle-sticker-increase-20111019,0,4086033.story

Ouch, that has to hurt for you...

Oh, and more....

Short run marginal road costs from autos and other light vehicles are directly related to miles driven and, despite increasing variance in vehicle weights (and fuel efficiency), there is not much difference in the damage done to the road by different types of light vehicles (whereas there is a big difference in damage to the road done by heavy trucks of different weight groups and with different axle configurations). Indeed, Merriss (2004) notes that the “difference in pavement damage imposed by a 6,000-pound large SUV versus a 3,500-pound compact car is inconsequential as compared to the difference in (pavement) damage imposed by either of these vehicles versus a fully-loaded 80,000-pound truck” (p.2).

Gotta agree with that. Too many people out there try to "get over". Sooo many hybrid owners for years thought that their shit didn't stink...err exhaust didn't pollute, I mean.

They ended up spending a dollar to save pennies. Now that it's clear that we aren't getting $8 a gallon gas, they are feeling vilified. Funny how the tables turn like that.

I never understood how people thought that a car with two engines was going to save them money. You may use less gas, but you have to push a heavier car with two engines that evens it out. Then you have the issue of what to do with those not so environmentally friendly batteries, when they wear out.

Hybrids were one of the stupidest things to come out of the auto industry and I was amazed at the idiots who flocked to them, without thinking of the ramifications of saving a few pennies and drive in the HOV. Now that their rash decision is coming back to haunt them, they want to complain.

"You dumb asses with your gag reflex spending a dollar to save a penny. "

So succinct and true...

Ok, then the argument that Hybrids cause damage to the road is false asswipe, therefore there should be no additional tax for the purpose of recouping maintenance costs on hybrids. You can't have it both ways you little ass licker, and if you look at my comment you will see THAT is what I said.

PS everything causes damage to everything so whatever this professor (a fancy word for someone who can't actually find a job) is saying is total tripe. Practically speaking, when you are talking about the lifecycle of a road, it always comes down to freight truck volumes because of the fact that freight trucks can cause a full days sedan fatigue just with one trip.

That being said, that doesn't mean that the other vehicles dont also cause damage, its simply that they aren't the drivers for the fatigue. Regardless, in the discussion of marginal damages, light trucks still cause 50-100 times more damage than sedans (as minimal as that is in the grand scheme).

So yer still full of shit shit for brains.

My hybrid cost $2500 more than its comparable non-hybrid. Non-hybrid got 26mpg, hybrid gets 41mpg. I have driven it just under 150k, that means my hybrid has used 3660 gallons of gas. A non hybrid would have used 5770 gallons. Fuel costs $3.50 on average over the time that I have owned it. So that additional 2110 gallons would have cost $7385

Net savings was $4885. Keep wasting money douche.

You are fuckin dumb and bad at math

Really, what's the resale value on that bad boy...or are you going to drive it into the ground? If you drive it into the ground, how much is it going to cost in parts and labor to replace that energizer under your hood and other specialized parts and labor?

How are those additional costs impacting your fuel savings??? Paid a dollar to save pennies.

I plan on driving it into the ground. Considering I've already gone 150k and the battery is still fine, I don't think its a problem at all. Also consider the fact that the battery full replacement would still only cost $3800, so you are still wrong. That is the only other specialized part. I dont pay any different labor fee when I take it to my mechanic.

Sooooo you are full of shit bud

I have actually paid less on maintenance of this vehicle than my prior vehicle which died at 190k. And again, considering this car is at 150k and the worst I've had is replacing an AC Compressor and standard tire/maintenance I think you are full of

Shit

All vehicles cause damage to the road. You may think THAT is what you said, but you didn't. Here is an easy one for you. Point to the exact sentence where you said that. Just like on all other challenges give to you, you will fail at this one as well.

Right, because 66 inside the beltway never needs resurfacing.

Umm, despite all the evidence given to you that demonstrates that your 50-100 times number is complete bullshit, you continue to double down on your stupidity.

Really? So, did you enjoy your ride into work with your boyfriend in your fagmobile?

Great, as long as you agree you are a hypocrite. Don't worry that kind of hypocrisy is just another reason why Virginians are fed up with the same old same old good ole boy network of the GOP. Enjoy losing races for the forseeable future.

So, by your own admission, you have been driving a heavier vehicle than the person who bought the non-hybrid version of your vehicle for 10+ years and paying less to keep up the roads around here. pay up is right, time for you to pay your fair share.

What the fuck are you talking about. A hybrid vs a non-hybrid of the same make is lighter you douche not heavier.

Fuckin tangential arguments out your ass huh? If you keep throwing shit on a wall I guess you can pray some of it sticks

PS, is it an ideal of conservatism for the consumer to be able to make the best financial option for themselves?

If you can buy an apple from Giant for 49 cents, or an apple from Whole foods for 1.09... should the government tax you 60 cents so that everyone pays the same for an apple.

Fuckin hypocrit moron

LOL. You mean like trying to use freight trucks as a substitute for light vehicles?

Sure. Explain how adding $67/year is still not in your best financial interest. According to you, you've saved thousands.

Speaking of apples, learn the phrase apples and oranges. What wear and tear on the roads are the apples doing? You really aren't this stupid, are you?

Even with the $65 fee, its still makes financial sense to own the hybrid, its just a punitive and politically motivated fee.

Secondly, your citing shows all of a 80lbs increase between hybrid and standard. Ohhhhh I stand so corrected, ya thats totally comparable to the differenc between a sedan and a light truck (double to triple the weight)

You douche

Enjoy paying for gas, I hope it keeps going up. I laugh and laugh whenever you butt hurts complain about it. Smile champ, your janitorial job is sure to give you that 25 cent raise next year

How is it punitive? You pay the same rate to upkeep the roads as the guy in the same or lighter vehicle next to you. You think that fagmobile exempts you from keeping up the roads?

You said that hybrids were lighter. Did you not? You called me a douche over it as you were oh so confident. I simply pointed out what a lil bitch you are and now you get all butt hurt about it. I can't help it if you don't know shit and aren't afraid of demonstrating that here.

Nice cushy well paying white collar job where I don't worry about the fluctuation of gas prices. I also don't need to drive a car to 150K miles. LOL. That must suck. Don't worry, sequester won't last forever, lil bitch.

To the anti-hybrid troll, you know you are arguing against your own logic right?

You say the hybrid fee is necessary to recoup maintenance cost caused by hybrids on a road, but then go on to say that there is no maintenance cost created by any non-freight truck vehicle.

So what does that leave? A usery fee would be the only appropriate fee to be levied, regardless of weight class for private vehicles under 8000 pounds, and charged on a per mile usage of the road in order to cover the capital cost and environmental wear and tear on roads. The hybrid fee of $64 would then still be exacted too high.

Maybe you can Google dork it for me, but I don't think I've seen a reasonable argument for Hybrids being worth the cost. Here's a good example:

http://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0412/are-hybrid-vehicles-worth-the-extra-cost.aspx

It uses the Honda Civic vs Honda Civic Hybrid as an example. This pretty much sums it up:

"Since the cost of the hybrid was $8,205 more, it will take 18 years to recoup the extra cost of the hybrid. Asking a car to last 18 years or 270,000 miles isn't practical, so the only realistic way to recoup those costs is to drive more miles or capitalize on the fuel efficiency and receive a tax credit."

Couple that with the fact that most hybrid cars are slower and you'll have to shell out $5,000 to replace the battery after 7-8 years.. wow not economical at all. Gas would have to be like $12 a gallon.

No, I never said there is no damage. You have the reading comprehension level of the douche spewing hybrid troll here. As the literature indicates, one heavy truck equals about the same as 8-9000 light vehicles. Numerous road surfaces in this area see much more than that per day. Many of those vehicles are hybrids who have been paying far less for more than a decade to keep them up. Inside 66 is a prime example. There are zero large trucks, but numerous passenger vehicles. During rush hour half of them are hybrids.

But it's an "exponential difference!" lmao

So now apparently you are recognizing that there is some de minimus level at which any difference is insignificant.

Now, the next step is for you to go find something which supports your claim re that the difference in weight between light cars and trucks is above that de minimus level. Independent, objective sources have been provided for the counter argument. You've provided nothing but your own BS. Either back your shit up or STFU.

You have still provided a circular logic argument. If there is no damage caused to roads by sedans and trucks, then why should there be a fee at all? Instead it should be whatever the total cost of the jurisdiction maintenance due to weather and environment, minus the damage fees charged to freight, divided equally among all car owners, or a flat mileage fee.

Otherwise, you still disregard that, while a freight truck provides 8000 car loads, that a light truck has 50 car loads. So it only takes 160 light trucks to equal that freight truck, and 8000 standard sedans.

Can't be both champ

A change of 100lbs between a standard vs its comparable hybrid is equivalent to a $64 dollar flat fee? Thats stupid.

Consider this, a person with a hybrid who only drives 5 miles per day, or 1800 miles per year. They get 45 gallons of fuel per year. Their gas tax with this fee would be the same as everyone elses plus $1.42 per gallon.

How is that fair? How is that conservative you douche. Cunt licking GOPwhore

Nobody has proffered an argument indicating no damage is caused by sedans. You simply made it up just as you made up NUMEROUS other things in this thread. Point to the sentence where someone indicated no damage is made by sedans and trucks.

In fact, it has been pointed out that: "Short run marginal road costs from autos and other light vehicles are directly related to miles driven and, despite increasing variance in vehicle weights (and fuel efficiency), there is not much difference in the damage done to the road by different types of light vehicles (whereas there is a big difference in damage to the road done by heavy trucks of different weight groups and with different axle configurations)"

Now, get back in your fagmobile with your boyfriend and go home and cry together.

What kind of idiot pays the hybrid tax for driving 5 miles per day?

It isn't, but then again, something tells me that someone who buys a hybrid to drive 1800 miles/yr makes numerous idiotic financial decisions, so in this case it is a stupid tax.

You infant, it says there is not much of a difference when comparing it to the damage done by a freight vehicle. Its like looking at a graph with an out of control upper end and saying, oh theres no difference down here. In reality it goes 1: 50 : 8000

You douche. So yes, there is a difference because 1 vs 50 is a big difference even though the difference between those and the freight truck are not as important

You douche

I just love that you live in a place that you must hate so much. You probably bitch about I-66, live out in the boondocks, and deal with traffic all day in your little penis truck mobile you little faggot

Hey douche, this is a brand new tax you cunt and its an old car. Unlike you I'm not stupid enough to get rid of a perfectly good car. Just admit you are a hypocrite for supporting this, but not for instance a larger car tax which would have done the same thing and been more equitable.

I'm the one providing circular arguments? lol That's funny.

No, I'm saying that below a certain level any difference in impact is IRRELEVANT. Again, using your anally derived 50X factor, which you've still provided absolutely no basis for, 50X a difference of squat still is squat.

You appear to recognize that a very large truck has the potential to cause exponentially greater damage/wear than simply the difference in weight versus another lighter heavy truck. You don't want to recognize that the damage/wear decreases exponentially as well.

Now, go find something to back up your 50X claim at the level of difference in weight between a light car and truck.

Simple.

You fuckin noob, its not 50x a difference of squat. Its 50 times more fatigue caused vs the sedan. You fucking douche. The squat part of it only comes when you compare it to large freight trucks you cunt

You are such a pseudointellectual douche. Read one fuckin thing on wiki and think you understand pavement design. Cunt

If a sedan causes one damage unit, then another vehicle exerting a shear force on it 2 or 3 times more causes between 2^3 and 3^4 more damage. It is fucking material sciences you douche, you don't need some freight study to teach you that.

2^3 = 8 times and 3^4 = 81 times

Either way, that light truck still causes multiple times more damage to the road than the sedan you cunt. So they shouldn't "pay the same fair share" using your own logic if this is all about pavement damage you cunt faced whore ginger chode
