Isn't DCRTV the same website that reported Mike getting beat up on St. Patricks day because of a post on this site? That site is full of more shit than Buzz and I wouldn't trust anything, either positive or negative from them.

I absolutley love The Big O and Dukes show, and likes the junkies, But the Mike Omeara Show is Terrible. And for the people who say just change the station, I DO. I listen to terrible national public radio when MOM comes on.

I wish i didnt have to, i whish D&M was back on. Oh well. I hope My boys Big O and Dukes take over the 3-7 time slot.

Be sure to listen Tomorrow, Friday March 27. Cuz they are guest hosting MOM show. They will show all those poor poeple across the country that have to listen to that fat peice of shit MOM that talk radio on WJFK is still quality entertainment.

Seriously, though, from a strictly psychological standpoint, I used to work in radio many years ago. Even then, it was full of Michael Hughes and Mike O'Meara-types...egotistical assholes who thought they knew everything but who had no common sense.

Often, these guys spent years rising through the ranks because they were always operating under the radar. Then, when they got their "big chance," and rose above the radar, they seemed to implode.

I can't tell you how many of these guys ended up going from being a big time talent to working at a Sears in a matter of months. It is a brutal business.

That said, Mike reminds me of those guys. That's probably why I feel the way I do.

Well I guess in the world of CBS Radio a 22nd overall PPM is "success".

It would be great if the MOMS dealt with local issues from a wacked out perspective. But what we get instead are 15 minutes interviews with some clown who writes a book about the history of feather boas - or whatever.

For the record I don't hate MOM - but we do have a back story.

OK, I'll admit it - I too was engaged to Carla.

Then that bitch started getting free drinks at O'Meara's is Manassas and she left me.

But, after that I recovered and hooked up with MOM's ex-wife (#2).

Life is good. I haven't worked in a year and a half!

So, in and odd way, I guess I want the MOMS to continue.

Am I selfish and shallow?

They claim to be in 4th place in the male 25-45 demo. But as someone who has purchased radio time for clients, I would never buy time on a station that was "4th place" in any demo...unless there was a massive discount. A massive discount so large that the station probably couldn't stay in business with WJFK's payroll.

Unlike dead-enders like Rob(b) and Beth Ann, I realized in my early 20s that only a handful of people ever end up making any money in radio. I saw too many people in their 40s and 50s still making $15K to $25K a year after a "career" in radio. That's why Rob(b) still lives in an apartment and Beth Ann was selling carpet. They probably still get paid shit.

When I was in radio, the companies I worked for went through several takeovers and downsizings. I was one of the folks who always kept his job. I decided on my own that there was no future in the industry for me. As a result, I have a very lucrative career and, unlike Rob(b), don't have to live in Shady Ridge Apartments, or whatever complex he lives in.

How can this be true is you yourself claim that you "check in once a week or less and always for less than 5 minutes?"

How would you even know the duration of the interviews?

You must have excellent timing to be able to tune in at that precise moment.

Don was a leader and a hard worker. MOM always came to work unprepared and let Don carry the water.

So now Mike wants to lead a team and he just doesn't know how. It takes time and dedication to lead something like the D&M Show. Mike is way too lazy and that is so evident in his daily show. Hell he can't even work the fart sound board correctly not to mention the rest of the sound effects. Every time he tries to work them into the show it makes no sense at all. Don was a master.

Mike used to do fairly good voice impressions but now he is so fucking lazy that they all sound the same. There is a real reason why that hump Robb asks Mike who he is. They may say it is part of the show but if you were not familiar with MOM and were channel surfing you would never know whom he was trying to imitate.

Mike has no direction for a long term radio show and never will. Allowing that hump Burbank to bring his own Dumb Ass agenda to the news is a huge mistake. That is why Mike is making the molester Burbank tone things down....

The whole thing makes me sick as I think back to the Don & Mike Show and how great it was and now...???? PURE SHIT...!!!

Perhaps Robb and BA really enjoy their jobs (esp Robb) and that means more to them than making more money doing something else.

I think Mike's impressions are great and hilarious. Yesterday, on BO, when he was doing Ann Curry's mom, I cried with laughter. Granted, that's not a famous voice, but funny nonetheless. And last week, he imitated a senator (I forget the name) who was in Buzz's news and it was hysterical.

I usually work 'til 5:30. Fortunately, my employer blocks most streaming radio so I don't have the ability to catch the first 2.5 of non-stop cutting edge comedy at the MOMS.

When I get to my car, I may listen to five minutes of MOM - the show is maddeningly bland, so **if** I try to listen to the MOMS **and** JFK isn't in a 12 minute commercial break, I'll hear a good five minutes before...

Going back to XM - Channels 6/7/8/9/161 and 40 thru 55.

Odd thing tho' - it's really hard to hit the funny when/if I listen to the MOMS.

And that's a concern, it's a real concern. I want MOM, Rob(b), BA, Buzz to succeed in a market that loves them.

That market is probably is rural New Mexico, on a 40 watt AM station.

I've seen this kind of thing first hand. Everyone thinks they are part of "a family." Then, they are SHOCKED when they get cut loose.

Seriously, people need to look out for themselves. If you expect a corporation to, you will be seriously fucked when you hit 40.

The MOM show consists of 36 minutes of commercials interspersed between 24 minutes of bland and boring "morning zoo" type patter per hour. Why is this show still on the air? Because they can still somehow sell enough commercial time to fill the 36 minutes per hour. When they no longer can the MOM show will meet its long overdue demise.

Listen to that 36 minutes. It is primarily PSAs, promos for other shows and national spots from the CBS network. With the exception of the occasional bar or restaurant chain and one or two car dealerships (no longer the big ones, I might add), I have no idea who is buying time on WJFK.

Personally I think it sucks that MOM can't run the show better. He needs an alpha-personality alongside him to help keep the ship afloat. Robb is not that guy and never will be but he adds some value when he throws out the well targeted zing. Buzz needs to stick strictly to the news and keep his political viewpoint to himself. What better way to alienate roughly 50% of your listeners that to lean heavily towards either side of the political spectrum with nearly every comment that you make.

I am afraid time is running out for this guy. I just hope he can step up his game. Maybe he should bring in Grease for a month to see what happens.

Last week DCRTV reported local CBS radio's (i.e., Michael Hughes) "no change strategy" wherein the PPMs we see that show JFK close to last place in listenership are false and "key trends" indicate the station is "close to success".

Well there you have it. Michael Hughes has conviced his bosses 22nd place JFK is bordering on the precipice of success.

The MOMS and big fat 'ol MOM don't appear to be going anywhere so that means two things: 1. This board will be around for a while; 2. MOM and his under-achieving posse can take a month off, who really gives a shit?

If there's a petition to fire Beth Ann, I'm signing it twice. She should never, ever be allowed near an open mic. She was annoying, uninteresting and dull on the D&M show and is even more so on the MOM show. Furthermore, there should be more Joe Ardinger on the show. He was funny on the air when Don gave him airtime. I guess Mike thinks Beth Ann or Katy (also really annoying with that childlike voice) have more appeal. Um, no.

Joe, Beth Ann and Robb were all infinitely funnier on D&M because Don knew how to use them effectively. It doesn't matter if Joe, Beth Ann or Robb is on the air with Mike, they will suck because Mike let's them do what they want to do...not what they are good at.

As for petitioning to get Beth Ann off, why bother? The guests suck because Mike doesn't demand good guests. ANYBODY in that position would do the same exact crappy job she has. Want to interview a guy who wrote a book about collecting Fossil watches and is ranked 284,326 on Amazon? Sign him up! Mike will try - and fail - to make it compelling radio by doing a SERIOUS interview!

"What makes Fossil watches so good?"

"You know, I used to think Fossil watches had been around a long time. But I later learned that they are about as old as Swatch watches. (89 caveats later) Why is that?"

No kidding!

A (mostly) rhetorical question: Why is it that someone who has been on the air for as many years as Mike has, has so little confidence in his own ability to ask a question that he feels he must qualify it with so many "outs" for the guest and irrelevant statements of his own opinion?

This man could turn "Why is the sky blue" into a forty second question, and before taking a breath to let the guest answer, he'd have waltzed it into a debate about the respective merits of pork sausage vs. ground beef.

The only JFKer on the air who is a worse offender in this regard is Oscar Santana from Big O & Dukes, who:

1) Doesn't know the language, despite growing up mostly in Maryland
2) Uses words he doesn't know and never gets called on it
3) Asks interminably long "questions" wherein he "answers" them by giving his own opinion and then loses track of where he began the train of thought
4) Laughs at his own jokes

...and on, and on. And with due respect to Gerard from Manassas, you can save your rebuttal (or as Oscar would say, your refuddle), because I'm a BO&D listener/fan too...and I believe they'll either find a spot on the next incarnation of JFK or they'll land somewhere else quickly (maybe even syndicated).

But it ain't because of Oscar.

I thought I was the only one who realized that Chad is carrying that show. Great post, Puckett! Oscar sounds as jaded and lazy as the Junkies. Less vibrant, too, which is saying something.

Mike is like Charlie Rose and Glenn Beck (who are both horrible interviewers). The whole point of his question is to show the audience what HE knows and what HE thinks, irrespective of what the guest thinks and knows. You will notice that Mike always brings up some arcane facts to "show off" that he is so insightful...even though half the time he is reading off a cheat sheet prepared by a PR person.

Many people love those shows, and not everyone is going to like them. Just like everybody in the world is not in love with your ass. It's also funny that those who possess so much love for 'ol MOM don't start a thread @ FU.

When the "Love MOM" thread reaches 70,000+ views we can talk.

But thanks to Michael Hughes, CK, MOM and his merry band of pranksters, this thread will be @ 150,000 views!

Hey Douche Bag....Consumers do rule the economic world and Radio Personalities are our slaves when it comes to giving us what we want. And we will continue to comment and critique as we wish.

In the end MOM and his show will only be as successful as the market allows him to be....This isn't some sort of government sponsored enterprise. It is an economic enterprise that relies on the generosity and the purchasing power of their audience.

From DCRTV:

"BO&D Edge Ahead Of MO'M - 3/31 - One more thing about today's early March PPMs. Could be just a blip. But, Big O and Dukes in middays are up substantially in the overall age 12+ numbers - going from 22nd to 17th place. That's better than afternooner Mike O'Meara, who placed 21st, about even with his overall February numbers. The morning Junkies placed 16th, steady with February. Maybe CBS should think about putting the much much much lower-paid BO&D in afternoon drive on 106.7? Hmmm....."

Yeah. Because Cerphe must cost so much more than the fucking "ensemble casts" WJFK employs! 94.7 is being dropped because only old hippies on Harleys listen to it. Has Michael Hughes ever been to a live MoM event to see the turnout?

That is my pet peeve with so many interviewers on radio and TV -- long-winded questions, full of their own opinions and suggested answers. So many interviewers dominate the discussion and hardly give the "guest" a chance to finish a sentence! Drives me up a wall!!! "The great Katie Couric" is particularly offensive in this regard.

Katie Couric is a horrible interviewer. While I don't like Sarah Palin, Couric's interview of her was strictly a hatchet job.

However, Mike is Glenn Beck-bad. Glenn Beck literally will spend three minutes setting up a question, in which he sets up the scenario, asks the question, answers the question himself, and then asks his guest if the guest agrees with his answer. THAT is the kind of shit Mike does. It's so bad, that even Ann Coulter called him on it saying, "Are you going to ask me a question?"

He is putrid as an interviewer.

I like Blue Note to win in the fourth race at Narragansett.

I actually like O'Meara and I won't pull a Limbaugh on him and say I hope that he fails. I want him and his show to succeed but I just don't think he is strong enough to pull it off without someone else in the driver's seat. He needs to either check his ego and get someone else in there to help him out or he needs to go full-on schizo and become a different personality every day for the entire length of his show in order for him to get out of his box and achieve something worth listening to. That is as long as it isn't his Charlie Stoobangstabillasshole character.

Maybe he could have alternating guest "partners" for a few weeks to see what the effect would be. Face it, Mike is and always will be Chewbacca not Solo.

I think Mike should have Buzz waterboarded live on his next show. You know, just to show how awful and inhumane that interrogation method really is.

And...Why Mike thinks it is funny to have BA do an interview and play his inane sound effects the whole time and with no apparent rhyme or reason is beyond me. In my opinion it is another example of his total lack of imagination and preparation....In other words "FUCKING LAZY"....!!

Nothing really, Mike isn't working and it's 'normal-ville' in the O'Meara neighborhood.

At 11:45am MOM and Carla wake up. I suspect the drinking starts at about 11:57am.

By 1pm you can hear glass breaking, a woman screaming and dogs barking. That will occur on and off until about 3pm.

By that time Mike is done with his mid-day case of beer. He's 'napping' now.

Carla usually is into half a bottle of Chivas and about ten rails by now. She doesn't nap much.

M&C will head out for dinner about 9pm.

By 11:45pm you can hear glass breaking, a woman screaming and dogs barking. That will occur on and off until about 3am.

I can't wait 'til Mike gets back to work!!

Oh, one other thing...er, maybe this site is a little too, um, how to say it? Too "adult" for you?

Hit your browser "back" button until you hit "WJFK.com", then link to the Mike O'Meara page. Listen to some podcasts and read the news, hey, even go a little wild - there may be pictures of the saucy "Buzz Babes" for you or ogle.

If that doesn't work, google "Jack Diamond" and hit his web page. that should "un-creep" you sweetie...I hope you don't have any bad dreams!
