LB mom: Don't compare Doc to Poythress that is stupid. Live in the now and do the best you can. I know P still roots for LB and his x staff that help Doc. P likes Doc, so why try to cut a legendary LB figure down? You want healing invite P back for a halftime salute! Why add pressure to Doc

1. Annandale @ Fairfax (-6)
- Fairfax won 35-28. Annandale’s schedule gets drastically harder from here on out.

2. Centreville (-10) @ T.C. Williams
- "Might be closer than expected…” T.C. won 28-24. Was anyone at this game? I was a little surprised T.C. won.

3. Chantilly (-17) @ Edison
- Chantilly won 38-6, covering comfortably.

4. Falls Church (-10) @ Herndon
- FC won 28-10. Probably will finish 8-2, or 9-1.

5. Freedom-South Riding @ Stone Bridge (-30)
- SB won 68-9. This one was done after the 1st quarter.

6. Freedom-Woodbridge (-20) @ Battlefield
- FWB won 47-0. Wow.

7. Hylton @ Patriot (-7)
- Patriot over Hylton, 42-14.

8. Marshall @ Lake Braddock (-17)
- LB with the homecoming win, 49-10.

9. Oakton @ Langley (17)
- Oakton won 38-35. What’s the deal with Langley? Was the Robinson win a fluke? They’re 1-4...

10. Madison (-10) @ Robinson
- Madison won 21-14, but failed to cover.

11. South Lakes (-6) @ West Springfield
- SL won 43-21.

12. Stonewall Jackson @ Westfield (-14)
- WF won 23-7. Probably will finish 10-0 in the regular season for the 3rd straight season.

13. Stuart (-7) @ Washington-Lee
- W&L won 40-14. Very bad loss for the Raiders, wow.

14. Wakefield @ McLean (-3)
- McLean won 36-31. 2 game winning streak for the Highlanders, and they now sit 3-1 on the year. Happy for these kids, as the last few years have been rough...

15. Woodson (-14) @ Lee
- WTW 39-0…

16. Yorktown (-9) @ Hayfield
- Yorktown scored with 15 seconds left in the game, giving them a 28-21 win. First 0-5 start for Hayfield since 2006, when they finished 0-10.

Last week for out of conference games for most schools. Starting to get a feel for who will make the playoffs, and who will be watching from the stands.

1. Battlefield @ Centreville (-14)
- Wildcats look to get back on track, starting this week with Homecoming.

2. Edison @ Yorktown (-24)

3. Fairfax @ T.C. Williams (-17)

4. Falls Church @ Madison (-20)
- First true test for the Jags. I think Madison is going to prove to be too physical for them.

5. Herndon @ Marshall (-14)

6. Lake Braddock (-28) @ Oakton
- I wonder why Oakton decided to host the Bruins for their Homecoming game…

7. McLean @ Mount Vernon (-24)
- I hope McLean enjoyed the win streak. MV is too athletic for them to handle.

8. South County (-28) @ Annandale
- Annandale’s schedule is a story of 2 tales. First half of the schedule being manageable, the second half of the schedule being much harder.

9. South Lakes (-17) @ Wakefield

10. Stone Bridge (-35) @ Rock Ridge

11. Washington-Lee @ Chantilly (-21)
- Chantilly continues to roll…

12. West Potomac (-25) @ Lee

13. West Springfield (-20) @ Stuart

14. Westfield (-28) @ Woodson
- Game of the week, due to a lack of really any other intriguing games this week...

Game will be closer than expected. CVHS using 2 new rb’s, previous kid With dreads is now 3rd stringer. Still can’t understand how they lost to TC.

Yorktown for real? They seem a lot like Chantilly, can’t tell if they are good or not.

TC gets 2nd win in a row. I am surprised Rebels have won as many games as they have.

Stallions will have enough pts before half time to get a running clock.

SB scores in 50’s again

Chargers by 28. A lot of talk by a couple of Chargers fans, getting closer in the schedule for them to prove if they're for real not this week.

WTW better bring their A game. WHS shouldn’t have any problems.

Win a few games by a lot against the bottom of the barrel teams, then come time to play the big boys, get hosed by Penn State! hahahaha

How dare you. I know who you are talking about. Very few people give selflessly to the program like that woman does. You have no idea what you’re talking about. I hope she never sees your hateful words. I hope no one from the Bruins coaching staff sees that either. Her son has been around a long time and he is well loved. She is a gift to that program too so how about shut up, asshole.

Easily has to be Doc from Lake Braddock, he doesn't have the talent Braddock's has had in the past, but in the end his players go on to the next level.

Got this one exactly right. Yorktown by 7 -- won but didn't cover.

I guess I'll take Centreville, but I don't feel good about giving points, especially this many after what TCW did to them last week.

Yorktown wins and covers.

Fairfax is 3-1 so far, and came within one last second TD against Oakton from being undefeated. Anyone see that coming? I didn't think so. Of course much of this is against weak competition. The easy part of Fairfax's schedule is over (until they play Woodson, of course). I'm going to take TCW to win, but I predict they won't cover.

Look no further than coach Curry! Just 2 seasons ago when he started his rebuild we were 0-10, kids and parents were apathetic. He’s reinvigorated the program and we are now undefeated and getting kids scholarships to play at next level. We have the best O-line in the Northern Region and will have multiple all state linemen when it’s all said and down. That’s called taking talent and developing them. Taking lemons and making lemonade

Has to be Simmons, win 3 states in a row and have no major commits.
2015 no top players to FBS school.
2016 1 Army and 1 kicker to UVA (do kickers even count?)
2017 2 Army
2018 1-Wake Forest, 1-UNC.
2019 1-VT
Pretty amazing especially considering no O or D linemen go anywhere.

Maybe the LB head coach should deal with the off field issues, instead of burying them. A serious locker room incident occurred, and he and Admin have done nothing, but bury it. A sophomore football player whipped out his private part and put it on a freshman player in the freshmen locker room. Did he bury it because the player is a perceived contributor to the team? He has a pattern of behavior.

The coach buried the fact that a 2019 graduate/football player actually played, while being investigated and charged/served time in a juvenile facility for sexual battery. When will character take priority over wins?

It is impressive, however, just because he didn’t graduate that year doesn’t mean that Noah did not play on the team in 2018. They also had Woodley who went D1 I believe.

Most ffx schools have zero D1 kids let alone 7.
D1 skill players are worth 2.5 D1 lineman in HS. Being able to score in one play or prevent a one play score is huge at all levels of football, but even more true in HS where kids make lots of mistakes.
Lastly, WF does a great job with their talent, but most nights they have the best guys when they play ffx schools.

Most out of their talent last 5 years:
1) Madison {2015-2019)
2) Woodson (2019)
3) Oakton (2014-2016)
4) WEstfield (2015-2019)

Waste of talent:
1) South County
2) Hayfield
3) T.C.
4) West Potomac
5) Lake Braddock

LB has averaged 8 D1 players past several years. Kim did not have any offers 2017 and just picked up VT this past summer. Simmons and staff without a doubt do the most with the least.

You need to distinguish between FBS Power 5 (ACC/Big Ten/Big 12/Pac-12/SEC), FBS, and FCS when you are talking about D1.

Bottom line is there is no way LB has averaged 8 FBS players the last several years.

Maybe it was better before all this Doc shit started. We won ten or more for every year for a decade. Kids got scholarships and Dicks stayed harnessed.

I just watched the below video.

https://youtu.be/4-sQhv5z4a8

See if anyone else is hearing what I thought was kinda wrong. It sounds like one of his players goes into that barber shop & gets his haircut 3 times a week AND it sounded like Coach Overton is either giving away free haircuts, if he owns that barber shop, OR he is paying for that player's hair cuts!!!???

Someone needs to spend some time in that barber shop & find out what's going on......

“Dicks stayed harnessed” LOL!!! Doc better bury it. JV are his upcoming Varsity plays in a year or 2. As for Overton, he’s a nigger so he probably owns the barber shop. ole miss got screwed for letting a kid sleep on a coache’s couch. That’s college though so I guess free haircuts are ok?? why does Overton sound like he has lung cancer?

Yeah, I saw that when it first came out. It raises a red flag but I don't know what the VHSL rules are about giving free stuff to players. Personally it seems like a cool thing to do but I understand how it could be seen as receiving a gift which is prohibited under NFHS rules.

VaPreps Class 6 Rankings (Not Power Point)

14H AGO FOOTBALL
Top Ten Rankings - Entering Week 6 Games for 2019

Matthew Hatfield • VirginiaPreps
@hatfieldsports
RELATED
This week's slate to open up October doesn't offer us as many juicy matchups as the end of September did, where we were littered with ranks teams facing off against each other. There are still plenty of unbeaten squads through one full month of play, though.

In fact, we have eight teams without a loss ranked in Class 5, where Mountain View and Deep Run are new to the rankings. Highland Springs of course is on the state's longest winning streak and will soon be colliding with another defending State Champ - Manchester - on October 11th.

Additionally, it's worth noting that there were no changes whatsoever in Class 4, which saw quite a few the first few weeks of the season.

Game of the Week? It's hard to pinpoint just one, although Varina out of Class 5 hosting Lake Taylor from Class 4 is worth checking out as the Blue Devils come off a game in which they nearly put up 80 points on the board.

Other ranked matchups of note include Class 6 Thomas Dale taking on Class 3 Hopewell, while a Class 4 showdown pits E.C. Glass against GW-Danville, looking to spring what some could consider a mild upset.

Below are the latest rankings...

Class 6 Top Ten:
Rank. Team Record Result
1 Westfield. 4-0. W 23-7 over Stonewall Jackson

2 Freedom-PW. 4-0. W 47-0 over Battlefield

3 Colonial Forge. 3-1. W 49-0 over Brooke Point

4 Oscar Smith. 3-1. W 42-10 over Indian River

5 South Country. 4-0. Idle

6 Lake Braddock. 3-1 W 49-10 over George Marshall

7 Stonewall Jackson. 3-1. L 7-23 to Westfield

8 Massaponax 4-1 W 58-0 over Stafford

9 Thomas Dale 3-1 W 33-24 over Petersburg

10 Ocean Lakes 4-1 W 28-8 over Tallwood

At the behest of the Purple enthusiast I went to the Charger vs W-L game this evening. It is my observation that this Chantilly team is an above average HS football team for this area. But I do not think they are elite and Madison-Centreville-Westfield are going to be tough games for them.

I could dissect in detail but suffice to say the W-L defense stopped Chantilly on 4th down four times in this game. Score was 14-6 at halftime and could easily have been tied. Give Chantilly credit they wore them down in the second half. But it was W-L. Maybe they step it up another notch against better competition.

Last year, WTW made it to the quarter-finals, were seeded #1 in their bracket and gave Freedom a run for their money. iirc they were 11-1 before that game and Freedom won on a long TD pass and run with less than a minute to go. Don't blame WF that the Cavaliers tanked this season. When this game was scheduled, WTW was a rising powerhouse.

Last night Battlefield was call3d for 2 unsportsmanlike calls after touchdowns. One for two players chest bumping, the other for player running fast across the goal line and flipping the ball. Nothing directed to the other team. I think all of us conservatives out there about the game would agree just score and drop the ball. These two actions were comical for flags to be thrown if you were a Cville fan. Battlefield folks were left in disbelief. Big difference in the ballgame. Possibly been tied 14-14.

Last TD for Cville to make the final score was a long pass caught for a TD. Flag for defensive interference. Cville took the TD. The officials then tack on the pass interference yards to the kick off. Is this correct?

I’m not from either school. Just there watching. Big fan of this high school post and thought I would add

One unsportsmanlike was due to the player doing the Superman thing which is Drawing attention to himself and not allowed. . The chest bump was not penalized. The other was taunting but I don’t agree with that one. The pass interference called was inforced on the kickoff because centreville had the option of taking the penalty which they didn’t need to because they scored or taking it on the kickoff since they scored. Same would happen if there was a face mask on a scoring play. That’s what I was told??

As to Centreville they seem to be going backwards. No improvements seen. OL is terrible. Play calling terrible. The Qb is either getting crushed or throwing interceptions. He’s lucky to have good WR to chuck the ball up to. It was watching two crappy teams attempting to play football. Hopefully Sheilds is as smart as everyone says he is and takes this team over and not letting his so called assistants ruin the season.

I think we can all agree Chantilly has improved. They’ll go 6-4 at the worst and more than likely be a one and done in the playoffs. Still tho I have to give their coach credit for 1. Getting his team drastically better & 2. Scheduling schools that they can pound, i think his goal was to get back to the playoffs. By any means.

So yes, I was the Chantilly game last evening. O'Reilly is OK throwing the ball. He's got an adequate arm and he had number of nice completions to Lott and Tacinelli. So most of Chantilly's passes are going to TEs or RBs didn't seem to have any significant threats at WR. RB Lott lined up at WR on some plays. But their pass is good enough you can't totally sell out on the run.

How did Lott get back into Chantilly? He got kicked out for possession on school grounds his Fr year and then spent last year at Cville.

The Shields choice was by the booster club know everythings. Better resumes came across Sanabria's desk but he acquiesced. So did the Principal.
Bottom line, Centreville is poorly coached. Haddock would not have tolerated this. Shields son is average at best. Don't you see he was only a cog at WF. He was a coordinator for 1 or 2 years at best. They are still rolling and we have regressed. Look for the booster guys with bruised chins from blowing Shields.Culprits

Shields will get things turned around and Centreville will be a dominant team in a few seasons. A cog? Nonsense. He was an integral part of WF success and a defensive coordinator of a state championship team. Everyone already concedes things were not ideal when he showed up here. He'll figure it out. Everyone is talking about Chantilly, what about Braddock? They are 4-1, losing only because the referees favored Westfield. It looks like they will have a cakewalk to winning district and then regional championship.

That will set them up for the semi final for the states against Westfield, no way Westfield wins that game. So Doc was right, he is preparing for 15 games and will play 15 games. Lets go Bruins!

SoCo and LB both played Hayfield. LB ran them over for 4 Qs whereas SoCo had some trouble with them until late when the Hayfield linemen were all worn out. Have they had any other common opponents? Does SoCo play Westfield? I don’t know the teams well so how do they match up? My gut says LB is the better team this year.

48-20 I don’t think it was a problem for us. They got a garbage td against our back ups. LB played them very next week after we softened them up. Sweeping Bruins like we did last year only this time even worse.

Soco destroyed two 7-3 teams in Woodbridge and Madison. Woodbridge has 7 D1 players and Madison is a tough well coached Concord juggernaught. Braddock got crushed by Westfield, Braddock scored on the JV to make it look good. Soco better is than last year, last year's team beat Braddock two weeks in a row, and Braddock is not as good as last year. Soco had no problem with Hayfield, Hayfield is a good team, they have the toughest schedule with 7 playoff teams on it.

My son played for Shields with b-ball, LAX and football for SYA/CYA. Shields was his DC at WF until he split for CV. He's a players coach. I don't know if it's enough to get them through the absence of talent however. And Jack isn't on the same level as Noah Kim. Like someone above said, he's average at best. Quick and wily, but no real arm or break-away speed. Wildcats finish 6-4 or 7-3 and limp into the playoffs for a first round bounaroo.

SOCO will roll up until state semi’s until they face a team that is even tougher than them, purpleplatoon. We are as big and strong as they are but we are more physical and smarter. We have better running game. Tilly 24-17 over SOCO! #purplereign!

Your team sucks kid. You will be eating all those words in a few days. You lose 4/5 and get embarrassed by Madison and Westfield. You have no talent. The team is overrated. If you watched the last two games you would realize that you are not very good. Two bad teams gave you major issues. Beating 5 bad non playoff teams isn’t something to brag about. Enjoy what you have done so far cause it will soon be back to reality. Curry’s bottom basement.

We have higher and more recruits than either Madison or Westfield. James Pogo has over 2 dozen offers from all the top schools. He has more than any kids from Madison & WHS combined! How can you say we have no talent?

Absent of talent at C’Ville. How about absent of coaching and play calling. I will say the O line is weak. None of those kids play if Haddock was still there. They all have parents on the boosters. Need to quit rotating all these kids. No continuity when doing that.

Just because you have kids with offers doesn’t mean shit. Westfield will blow you out of the ball game. Madison has one kid with offers and they will two. Just because you have a big bad oline doesn’t mean your the best. I’ve seen Madison play a few times this year and there oline takes over games. They may look undersized, but I guarantee they are better than the Tilly oline. They play much harder and with grit. They also are getting better by playing with good teams. Definitely one of the most underrated. Westfield will always have a good talented oline as well. They have great coaching and will blow you off the ball like they have all year. Your team will finish 3rd maybe 4th in the Concorde and be one and done

U r so stupid and don’t know shit about football. It all starts up front with our BIG BAD OLINE! We will knock you off the ball all night long. Starts as 3-4yds and turns into 3-5 yds second quarter and then 7-10yd chunks, by the 4th you will quit just like everyone else ha so far! Our RB, QB I wouldn’t trade for anyone in our district. Tough strong. And fast. Run around you or over you. CVHS has no talent anywhere. Name on position where they have us beat? Can’t! Say what you want but Tyler is a Dawg! Not scared of contact and won’t run out of bounds like some soft qbs in our district do.

At least that kid is not a retard. Wtf did you just write? How hard is it for you to put a clear thought down? They have a chance they don’t have a chance, kids stay in school, GED is not as good as an actual diploma.

I’m not going to say Chantilly is awesome and should be ranked number 1 or anything but I’ve been a supporter many years now, last kid graduated from there 15 years ago, I’ve seen enough of their ups and downs to enjoy it while it’s up cuz who knows if it’s sustainable and next up swing may come around. But I am curious as to how Max Preps has us ranked only 23rd in their 6aa rankings. They have a couple schools that lost 2 games ranked ahead of us and a bunch of schools that lost 1 game meanwhile we’re undefeated. What gives? To all the. I’ll dogs folks, remember you guys probably could’ve hung 2-3 more state banners up if it weren’t for us beating you in the playoffs when it really matters. You all may have edge in regular season but playoff times we won you.
