You forgot school serves as day care for parents that like to get to work early. I dont blame them as I dont like morning traffic either. Parents just roust the teenagers up before sunrise shove them out the door and our day is started. This is MUCH easier for the grown-ups and being as we control the world for our kids - screw them. If they want they can change things when they grow up but for now WE make the rules and this is best for the adults.
Oh and please lets not even pretend that this is 'best' for the kids, or that getting up an hour and a half before sunrise in the winter builds character in a 12 year old. This is about me getting to work before rush hour with enough time to stop by Starbucks to get my double-shot latte.
