All pawn shop transactions are required to be reported to state law enforcement. The pawn database is available to all local area police departments. Some police departments track and disseminate a list of the "top pawn customers" to officers. Most of the people on these lists, coincidentally, are locally known thieves who normally don't stay out of jail very long.

I know Dave Baucom, he's a great cop! I'm sure everyone involved feels badly for how this incident ended. Bottom line is this. Like it or not, bookmaking is a crime in Virginia. Had Mr. Culosi not been running book, NONE of this would have happened. If you don't like the laws, get them changed.

I would have asked to speak to a supervisor that handles the area where this happened. He should have at least been able to tell you if this was an unmarked car or not. There is a difference between unmarked and undercover. Unmarked can/will pull you over, undercover has no police markings and should never be involved in police "activity".

Most Police Departments do not pay for officer's cards. Officers normally are not required to provide a business card when asked but are required to at least provide your their name and identifying number (not badge number). Also, they aren't required to write it for you or give you pen and paper to write it down. If you didn't smoke so much weed you could remember it. They probably stopped you

In Alexandria, per diem for city employees is $35 per day and has been at that same rate since in 80's. That's a slap in the face compared to Federal per diem rates.

The "West end" is increasingly becoming the worst part of the city. The Police Dept. divides the city into 3 areas. Downtown, Delray and West end (basically (with some exceptions) the area west of Quaker Lane. In the past few years the west end has a higher number of calls for service than the other two sectors. Not just a little bit more, a lot more calls! Section 8 housing is not the major i

Ok, I was wrong on that one. The NOVA police agencies recently (in the past year or two) agreed to go to "plain language" on the radio since the ten codes varies widely from agency to agency. (10-99 in Fairfax is a public service while in Alexandria it used to be a wanted person) The use of "plain language" in an emergency mutual aid situation would avoid misunderstandings possibly brought on

6x calls seem to run in groups. Some days there are none and some days it seems like they come out of the woodwork. Years ago dispatchers had to verbally announce the time over the radio at certain intervals. With the digital systems now in place that time is automatically sent electronically by the system, eliminating the need to verbalize the time. Some dispatchers just find it a had habit to

A "signal one" is basically "officer needs help". It is "activated" by pressing a button on the officers portable radio, car radio or verbally. 6x is a person with mental problems.

Check Ebay. I buy hard to find all types of wood for my smoker there. Decent prices also. Get chunks, chips are worthless.
