In playoffs, I saw them wax SoCo, which got 2nd in the Patriot.

Ken Beatrice: Dude, this is a football chat thread. If you don't like FB, don't hate on us. Go listen to your own record collection, plant a tree or do whatever else you wrote about in your post. Anybody know how NR D6 playoffs will work next year? Realignment apparently creates 4 conferences, with Conference 5 being Concorde teams. Look like Battlefield, Stonewall J., Hayfield, Madison, and Yorktown are in NR-D6, too. Anybody know if that's true and how many teams will make playoffs? Is it the 4 conference champs plus the next four based on power points? rex ryan Wrote: -------

Totally agree. Anybody who says that the top 3-4 teams in the SEC are overrated is just not looking as what's happened on the field. The one post makes a good point that The Ohio State and ND are back or are coming back. Right now, though, the talent and the wins are in the SEC. Look at Alabama's roster, too. You see 1 player on it from the ENTIRE Midwest. That's all. Alabama lost 6 starters on D

SB showed the heart of a champion in its awesome 69-50 W over Yorktown. Bulldogs were down 23-7 in the 2nd and Yorktown was putting up points like nobody has on SB in years. The O, D and specials all contributed big time after SB trailed 29-28 in the 3rd and that is why SB is the NR champ. Big time comeback!!!! Wapo just posted a story about the NR finals. Amazing that SB has held 8 teams to 1 TD or less. Props to all 4 teams--W'field and Yorktown for making it a 2nd staight year, SB for making it an incredibl 7th time in 8 years and Oakton for pulling 2 upsets to make it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/highschools/northern-region-football-finals-yorktown-stone-bridge-oakton-westfield-vie-for-s

Agree w/KeepitReal. Nobody has moved the ball on SB and Yorktown will have trouble, too. If Burns is good, then Yorktown will have trouble on D, too. Nobody has come close to SB and Yorktown is next. Was at the TJ game and saw that Yorktown plays with heart, but lacks size, depth and special teams. TJ got good field position and you can't do that w/SB. Saw the WaPo piece about Yorktown but one pl

newgatedenizen: Yeah, I'm with you about how C'ville looked vs. 'Tilly after being down 17-0 early. They came back strong in the second half on both sides of the ball. In the end, this year is another reminder that it's tough to get out the NR. Will be routing for the underdogs on Fri and Sat. ------------ newgatedenizen wrote: but You make an excellent case in hindsight - but I was see

Yorktown isn’t the area’s most overrated team. That award goes to LB, self-explanatory. Look to C’ville for 2nd place. Why? After going to UVA in 2011, the young 2012 team got some wins. Great, but then people started hyping and predicting a return to NR finals. You forgot how C’ville struggled vs. the weak Nat'l teams you say Yorktown dominates. C’ville, at home, had to squeak by Mt. Vernon, 30

Tonight @ C'ville, Oakton looked good when it counted on D and at QB. Exciting to the finish, 14-13. If Oakton comes off that bus Sat believing, then it could be anybody's game. Otherwise, if W'field gets out early then it could be rout. What did people see at SB-Langley and SoCo-Yorktown? I saw SB-Broad Run early and SB showed real balance on both sides of the ball and decent speed, too. Wonde

Was at Robinson-SB. SB keyed all over the guy. He had one big run, maybe 50 yards; the rest of the yards were hard to get. You could still tell that this dude can play. As it turned out this year, SB shutdown every back it faced, including O'Connor from TJ and Mun from Langley. Can Langley beat SB tomorrow night? Based on the game 1, no way. Langley has a chance in my mind if it throws on 1st

Yeah, good point about Soco-SB last year. This year, SB beat 2 Concordes early and skated through the Liberty. That's good, but who knows how good? In NR, I wouldn't dismiss Soco or Yorktown. SoCo is playing well and is physical enough to hang with SB; Yorktown has a few quality players and might suprise. Outside of NR, you've got N. Stafford, Phoebus, and Lake Taylor. Last year, N.Stafford los

You make some great points about loss of Yorktown's FB and QB. The FB also played LB and will be sorely missed. Since you called the SoCo game, you know certainly know how much SoCo was able to penetrate. They had one awesome D.As much as Yorktown did last year, the sched doesn't help them very much. Maybe playing 1-2 tougher D6 teams and an SB during reg season would be good prep. I love footbal

HS REF: Sure, PL doesn't guarantee success; NOTHING does unless you have GC-type talent. To suggest that YKTWN was good at PL but not at "real" football is like saying SoCo can't play D b/c they got burned for 2 long TDs when the VA title was on the line. YKTWN was run-first, not some soft PL team. They ran for 3,200 yards/40 TDs, won 12 games, and beat 3 playoff teams. They held 7 teams to 7 poi

Agree that Ferri and Hanson do well w/what they have. I just checked Yorktown's sched for the past 2 years; their only losses were to C'Ville, SoCo, and WL--2 state finalists and a rival. Overall sched is weak with biggest wins vs. Langley, McLean, Lee and Hayfield. Let's see how they fare vs. MD4A Bowie in the opener. As for Stuart, didn't they lose the RB and much of the O line?

What's the deal w/the guy who got arrested for intent to distribute? If the charges stick, will he ID recipients to get a lighter sentence and could those recipients include players from local HS programs? Things have been relatively quiet since the arrest so that's why I'm asking.

4shiz-- Definitely congratulations on such a good game today and season, too. A lot of us stayed late and personally shook your players' hands and wished them the best next week. It was a good experience and you could see the leadership the seniors showed. Really good team, for sure, and perhaps one of destiny. Yorktown's youngsters were down after the game, but you have to play good teams to ge

Nighthawk-- Re Wilson, Yorktown has some type of commitment/relationship with DC Public Schools. It goes back over 5 years or so. The same with PG County -- but Yorktown only scrimmages 1 school from PG every year. This year it was Forestville, I think. Playing those schools is a different exprience but probably not great in terms of playoff prep.

nrperson-- One more thing...SoCo had a D6 playoff record of 1-3. So this year they moved you down to D5 with the other little schools -- where you can be one of the biggest and compete on your size. i personally think you would do well in D6 this year because of your great D, but let's not kid ourselves about your record w/schools in that category. i'm not saying Yorktown would far any better an

nrperson -- Every team has a bad game ... just like your baseball team did last year in states. I don't know what your point is since your team was 4-6 last year and we'll see what happens next year. just because you finally won 10 games one year, you're acting like your a football power or something. Call me if you repeat next year and then let's talk, ha, ha.

Agree that SOS gets you ready, but I don't know how Yorktown breaks out of its ongoing challenge. They got Centreville (L, 27-0) and Madison last year (43-0). Then this year they get Herndon and Langley, winning by a combined 62-7. I hope they do get a tough game or two on the schedule next year because it's clear that that's the best way to get ready for playoffs. The won the region I think in 1

yktownblows; we don't have a choice in terms of which games to schedule; for example, last year we were assigned Centreville, this year we got Langley and Herndon. Those games are assigned. I see you were 4-6 last year or something like that so am not sure what your point is. Yorktown has 2 district championships in its history; you have 1 we both have been there. I can tell by your name that y
