I thought they said quite abit about the money side of the weekend in the segment prior to the news on thursday show. They seemed very disappointed in their take. Someone uttered Circus kept 50% of ticket sales, etc. Even if they sold 400-they would gross $8K to split. With comped rooms and food, I don't know that they got a take of drink sales. Seemed very nervous to announce another show or cruise because this one's profit was so thin. Would like to hear JHOP or some other vets analysis of that segment. Why are they so critical of Jimmy when it seems like he helped them fill some space in the show? Also, Mike was blowing smoke up his own ass that he told only 2 people about New Orleans and word spread like wildfire-HE MENTIONED IT ON MONDAY or TUES SHOW!!

Kornheiser's radio show/podcast downloads, from the ESPN platform only, are now about 37,500. (A year ago they were half that). Do you really think TMOS is on a par with TK?

I think the Jimmy thing has always been the plan.

Did they ever mention the comedians's name? Also, if you listen to the first announcement of CAT, they hint at something that would seem like it would be Jimmy.

I bet they probably though they were ripping off their audience anyway by not even saying what the ticket prices were initially. They even justify the price because they have to do a meet and greet.

Listen to the first announcement of CAT. Funny stuff!

He said stink food but he probably caught himself at the last second. Besides I'm sure "Manuel" merely had a burrito from the airport Chipotle. Mike was just pissed because he has to eat baby food for 12 weeks or his ass will clog up like a Tijuana toilet.

CC splits the ballroom width-wise, not length-wise. They were in A -- conga photos show A's doors...

http://www.circusreno.com/meetingsandbanquets/mandalayconventioncenter_floorplan.aspx

So, in conclusion, it was a qualified success, much like the sales of Open Mike -- another verboten topic. Not successful enough to get Mike and family off Obamacare, but it still put some money in his pocket. "Money for nothin'."

Klubbers would have paid $40 just to see AM Jacker and Jimmy.

Yo bitches. Why don't we just call Circus Circus and ask them about the ballroom. Pretend like you are a rep for Cosby and he wants to do a show and a meet and rape. Let them know you need the same set up as the fat has been dj with the bad pooper.

I will say this. That fucking Rob Ford cracks me up. I thought his segment was terrific about Reno.

"You and your stink food", appropriate to be said about Manuel on an airplane. "You and your spic food", appropriate to be said while in the sanctuary of your car in traffic. You see, in traffic all bets are off. When I am on the air, I detest racism, in fact my entire family has for generations.

The only person who has ever said 40K listeners is Fatt Rob, who also said they had 700 people at the Reno show. The numbers don't support that at all. 27 million downloads at 1100+ shows and they've admitted to slow growth, which is likely little to no growth. The UStream live numbers have dropped, the YouTube numbers are flat, the iTunes position is unchanged. 25K is probably closer to the truth.

Sorry Carla, that's a battle that can't be won. Mike has paddled against that genetic stream for years to no avail. Not his fault. You don't tell God how you want to look. And for Christ sake, buy that kid a pair of shoes!

No I don't

We have an unrealable narrator and data of questionable veracity

Which makes a model of their listenership and hence revenue difficult but not impossible. If I get bored enough I'll take a pass at building that model using 27M / shows and the LPS's number of 40k

The real datum I need is number of preimum members. I know how much they charge for ad reads and if I can devine bonus show subs, I can extrapolate AMZ click thrus

Again, I think 20k downloads / show is a realistic number. Many post ago, we dug up the rating from the WJFK days and it was shocking how few people listened.

I think $40k per idiot is a reasonable number for them

That's a bingo, and for those who don't realize (hi, Mike), being part of an affiliate program doesn't mean you've sold ads to anyone. It means you went to some website, signed up, affirmed you have a website or a product, and are willing to display or read an ad in return for a (usaully small) percentage of any purchases made with your "unique affiliate code" (NB: Every Joe Schmoe gets their own unique code or, rather, string of letters and numbers, so in terms of presitge or exclusivity, there's nothing unique or special about it).

What is it about TMOS that most of us here can't quit? I dismiss all other shitty stink stuff I can't abide. It must be FFXU. We all want to be chroniclers as TMOS slowly spirals downward. If I didn't have you guys to enjoy this disaster with, I would have bailed and deleted TMOS long ago, without a look back.

Other terrible podcasts are deserted without a thought, but because it's fun to vent about these stupid shitheads with you, I stick it out.

I'm beyond getting mad about the show anymore.

That was the reaction when I cared.

It's pure observation now, and reaction to this observation is FFXU. and that makes it fun.

It's been said before but is worth repeating. I'ts amazing to me that he'll whine and bitch and moan about "haters" that criticize him when this is how he "makes his living and feeds his family!"

So Savannah Guthrie and Ann Curry didn't feed their families and make their living in television when you SAVAGED them for YEARS on the radio and your podcast that went out to thousands of listeners? That you don't criticize the shit out of SNL and how it hasn't been funny since Akroyd and Belushi? Which as a sidebar is SO FUCKING HACKY to say since every douchenozzle says that shit and it still isn't true. Like you don't bitch about Jimmy Fallon and Dave Grohl?

So you get to make fun and criticize those public figures all you want but if it happens to you then it's out of bounds? Fuck off you self-important, myopic, lazy fat fuck.

The earlobe crease is a sign of cardio vascular disease. Fact is Mike is morbidly obese, sits around a lot and doesn't exercise (riding around on a golf cart doesn't count). Mike claims he's had a clean bill of health from his doctor. I really don't believe it. He has to be a candidate for a triple or quadruple bypass. Look at him! Geez!

It's all genetics. None of Mike's problems come from being obese. Listen harder!

From ABCNEWS.COM...

1. Ear Crease

A 74-year-old man with an increased risk for heart disease said that while he’d noticed the crease in his ear, he’d paid little to no attention to it.

“That diagonal earlobe crease that goes from the very bottom of the ear up in a diagonal fashion — it really is an enfolding of tissue and that is what is being associated with heart disease,” Wald said.

One study found that 71 percent of people with that crease suffered from heart disease.

I can't stand to listen to Cronic. Like the old saying... "He has a face for radio."... well, Cronic has a voice for newspapers. Even IF he had something to say, he should never be allowed near a microphone with that screechy winey voice.

A while ago, maybe 2 years ago at this point, I had a friend that owns one of those booth poster for trade shows companies contact the idiots and ask for their ad rate.

The scale was something like: $500 / live read if once per week and it went down to $200 / daily and you were required to buy some high number of reads.

Yes, most (all?) of the commercials on tmos are affiliate programs, but they did have ads back in the day. The insurance guy, oaken wine shop (that was likely booze in exchange for air time), that sleep app, etc

Their ad return rates just showed like total number of downloads and focused on exposure and not ROI or click thrus.

It was basically 1/3 the price of ads in an in-flight magazine

Oh and tmos was weird about handing out ads rates.

Iirc, there was a lot of back and forth and proof that this company existed. I remember him saying something like normally it is: send us an email from the same domain as your website and the sales person will call you.

Tmos was a bigger hassle. Which could be due to the idiots not knowing how these things are done or some strange reason to protect their ad rates.

Given they couldn't sell their own fucking book, I can't imagine they make much of anything from those affiliate programs. I would guess most of their money comes from the remaining klubbers who buy subscriptions. Ronic sucked. But at least he brought real advertisers in the door and moved merchandise out it. The krewe does virtually nothing to "monetize" the Failcast, though they sure spend a lot on trips and studios.

So, I fucked around and made a model for TMOS.

I don't have the datum that I care about which is the premium subscription rate, so I modeled it as a probabilistic function in the model.

I used the bandwidth costs from here when we talked about AWS vs podcast hosting services.

I used the LPS's number of 40k listeners / show. Current annual sub cost of the bonus shows and I used 0.05 for the AMZ click thru thing. I set the number of AMZ click thrus at the same rate as the Pr(x) of the listener buying a bonus subscription.

Retention rate of 95%, because well the klub. New user growth rate of 0.05%, which is much, much less than Google's click thru rate.

No other income $.

That gives me a mean net profit of $123,206.00. Mean paying base of 17,058.

Lifetime value of a median user is around $31.00 assuming a 10-year run.

Do you mean c'est la vie? You aren't spelling it right or using it right. It's used as a negative not a positive. For example, "TMOS really sucks. Oh well, c'est la vie".

Also, why did you capitalize every word? Is your entire post the title of a book or something?

Lastly, podcast is one word, not two.

Nobody has ever confused Klubbers with intelligent people, but you might be the dumbest of the bunch.

Note: Not sure if there was some lame joke on the show about "say la vee" or if this poster is just retarded. If it is something show related I guess I just don't get it.
