It just dawned on me what I was feeling or observing when I watched those two "Cat 2011" videos - the promo and then the cancelled "event". It's watching grown-ass men literally playing make believe radio/TV. My kids did it when they were younger - they'd put on "newscasts" and create "Kidz News" newspapers. They were SEVEN!!!!!!!!

We all know the failcast is pretend radio, but the whole "mysterious CAT 2011 show" promo and then the "It's cancelled due to high demand a shitty gimmick with no actual content" took it to a whole new level (or depth).

I don't know who's worse...

These fucks or Charlie Sheen. Both are delusional, but hell at least Charlie is a millionaire and lives with two chicks that he pays to fuck him on the regular.

The MOM crew are pretending to be DeeJays and really just fucking themselves. It's more of a circle jerk at this point, they prop each other up. It's all fun and games until the bank comes knocking on the "studio" door.

This whole CAT shtick, and the show in general, is now designed solely to suck money from the dwindling and equally in-denial fan base of the failcast.

Who in their RIGHT GODDAMN MIND would pay $20 for a CAT shirt?! WHO, I ask?!?

Looking through the site, there's so much overpriced bullshit you can buy to keep this hack operation afloat, its sickening. And the worst part is, there's practically no redeemable content to warrant purchasing any of it! You even have to PAY for some of said content. I'd almost be more inclined to buy a "Fairfax Underground: Mike O'Meara Show Failcast: Celebrating 100 Pages!" t-shirt, complete with a graphic from YoungDCian. Almost.

This show is beyond unfunny. It has become an exploitative abomination on all levels, reaching its apex (or nadir) with this CAT nonsense.

Hmmm...

I:
Have no content to offer.
Am not on the radio.
Don't care to do any prep work.
Enjoy, eating, drinking and sitting around my house.
Complain about my commute.
Have unfunny "friends" that regularly stop by my place.

Can make t-shirts.

I think I'll start a podcast! Please attend my launch party "dog".

Is this some stupid joke? Why did it get cancelled?

Please explain this to me so i don't have to listen to the Failcast to figure it out.

Yes. It wasn't canceled because it never existed. It was a shaggy dog story trotted out to get people to look at the stupid new website.

There's nothing to figure out. It was bullshit. Rob(b) thought it was funny. Apparently he was the only one...even among the MOM fans.

I don't know if he can. Oscar was a driving force to start the failcast venture- surely if he knew then what he knows now he wouldn't have done it. But he's got people that he respects that threw all their chips in. Oscar's obligated and in deep. That blow-up a couple weeks ago should have been it, but deep down he's too comfortable and defers too much to take a stand.

I really hope this summer maybe Chad and Oscar get a gig in Phoenix or in a different market. Chad's clearly miserable with bumbling Lavar and the JFK/CBS team, it shows. "Guy talk" may be dead, but BOAD has some of the magic left. Clearly Mike and his hangers-on do not.

Only distance can save Oscar, but even then his guilt is going to bring him down with the rest of the ship of washed up has-beens with no future. Hopefully Oscar can breakaway but at this point he's in pretty deep. Plus he needs Chad to stake out with him to be something. Finances aside, Oscar's standing in radio is in a really bad spot.

To be fair, he certainly listens more than I do (which is never). I mean WTL can tell you what Cat is or some ridiculous crap. You could put a gun to my head an I would have no clue what Cat is or if it was even a bit on show. I thought it was some sort of joke photoshop on a shirt by people here. Even then I had no clue why it was funny other than fat people dressed as cats.

I agree with your analysis. I also have a couple things to add.

One thing worth noting is that TMOS really didn't have many "chips" to play with when they threw them in the Failcast. In my opinion, it would be on thing if they passed up a paying gig for the Failcast from Oscar's perspective.

Also, Oscar's radio career is basically 2 podcasts now. He's in "deep" as far as that goes but should feel no obligation not to ditch the Failcast if a BOAD gig in, as you suggested, possibly, AZ was on the table.

More LFF verbal crutches

"I don't know" and then proceeds to give his uninformed opinion

not a verbal crutch but if the microphone doesn't sound right to him he has a cow
There might not be much to the content but he's got to have the microphone set up right. Seems like a diva move to me.

Is this redesign of the website a desperate move? You change the website just to change the website and use a pathetic scam to draw attention to the change.
also not computer expert but is the new design of the website fairly generic?

I don't listen to the failcast the only thing I knew about CAT was from the two videos. And it didn't take a genius to see after the first video that it was going to be a bunch of B.S. I admit to occassionally listening to The Edge because as bad as it is, it doesn't have Rob(b) on it.

After observing Rob(b)'s acting chops in the video, I wonder who got the shorter end of the deal: 1. the fools who admitted Spewak into VCU's 'theater arts' program, or 2. the Va. taxpayers who subsidized Rob(b)'s four years of doing/learning nothing at VCU.

The video and "event" tie-in are beyond embarrassing.

Has anyone considered that Oscar is just too stupid to divorce himself from MOM's crew? Why would anyone in his/her right mind continue to be associated with that complete clusterfuck of a entertainment 'broadcast'?

I've come to the conclusion that Oscar is emotionally paralyzed when it comes to ending relationships. It's going to take Chad getting them a gig in Phoenix or some other market to get Oscar separated from MOM and from Kara. He won't do it on his own. I've known people like this, and only outside forces, which they can claim they have little or not control over, will prompt real change in their lives. I believe Oscar is terrified of being disliked or hated and it causes him to tolerate insufferable bullshit from other people.

I've got an out for the whole bunch. Regroup and team up with some other top talent Don has recently left in his trails. Like Lady G and her fucking equally stupid and embarrassing "Spilling Daisies" show on YouTube.

Of course Don and Dave immediately renamed it Spanking and Stinking Daisies and started making fun of her Wisconsin Badger references in her first video.
That explains her "angry badger" angle in this video.

If she keeps it up next week Don has an embarrassing secret about Lady G he will reveal.

It will be fun to see Don's audience respond with their own YouTube renditions of "Spilling Daisies" today on his show. It kind of reminds me of the Harvey Joel Fischer war long ago where Don threatened to expose a Domestic Violence skeleton if Jack didn't back down.

Anyway I'll quit trying to divert the thread.

Chad mentioned in past BOAD shows that his contract ends in July and as of a few months ago his future was very much up in the air (or so he made it seem). He also mentioned a few episodes ago that Lavar and Dukes is the #2 rated program in the key men demo and that 980 is like 10th place in the men 24-45 (or whatever the demo was). Don't know if I buy that, but if it's true, seems CBS would have to keep them.

Even if they plan on kicking Lavar to the curb, I would imagine they would pick up Brian Mitchell (and pair him with Holden or the like) as replacements, being as Redskins season is right around the corner by that time. But that would be sweet if Donnie G could re-claim his drive-time DC spot. That would really send Mike into a spiral.

Yeah, Lavar and Dukes do great numbers in the key demo (even though Lavar is pretty much an inarticulate idiot) so I would imagine CBS will make a serious efforts to keep them. I can't imagine them doing it with Brian Mitchell since Mitchell is even more retarded and inarticulate than Lavar.

I don't think either DG or MOM should really be on the radio again. They both are relics of a morning zoo era that just does not work any more.

^^^^^Thank you, thank you. Finally somebody else noticed that B-Mitch as stupid as they come.

I know this might come across as racist here but here is my comparison of B-Mitch, lavar, and John Thompson in regards to articulateness and raw cognitive aptitude which I don't think necessarly go hand in hand.

Articulateness

I doubt LaVar and Dukes pull stellar numbers in any dem. But if they did, I think Chad would still give WJFK the finger if they either don't make it well worth his while financially to work with LaVar, or bring back Oscar. Otherwise, I think Chad's priority is to get a decent paying gif in any decent market with BOAD.

As stated, it's not a CBS affiliate, so that knocks out WJFK. He did his little pig latin thing, and said it was Baltimore.

You can doubt it but they put up stellar numbers. I mean I don't know what proof you have that they don't (I mean I know you have no proof).

Face it, they do great ratings in afternoon drive. However I do agree he will turn down the offer they give him because he seems way too emotional about not having friends at work.

So Mike is doing promo spots for B.O. Radio? Chad had this idea first with his Fukerton.com promos. Since he's rightly estranged from the talentless and annoying antics of Othelo and Blue Shorts, he's probably steaming. They also interviewed Kevin Smith. I think if the B.O. Radio show gets any bigger Chad is going to straight up quit. This is what he was alluding to with C.K. "backing" another show. God knows why.

They consistently rank in the high teens with the overall audience. I would venture to guess that if they were #2 with the key male demo, they would be somewhere in the Top 10 with the overall ratings.

They have terrible ratings. Chad can bullshit all he wants about being #2. Truth is they aren't. Not in that demo, anyway.

Did anyone else hear Mike busting Kirk's chops this morning? He was bitching at Kirk at the way he speaks with callers, saying that's why their ratings are so bad. And at one point Kirk said he had interviewed Kim Kardashian and Mike chimed in, "You've interviewed everyone, haven't you," in a very snide and backhanded way.

Makes me think management put their boot up Mike and Kirk's asses yesterday over the ratings and Mike has decided to blame Kirk for his latest career setback.

I don't know what to say except they absolutely are that highly ranked.

You are wrong.

It's 100% understandable that as a whole they rank in the high teens. They have zero female audience so right off the bat that really hurts them in the overall.

But yes, they rank that high in the key male demo.

Yeah, the ratings came out on Tuesday and it looks like K&M were called in for a brief, but stern meeting. They didn't sink any further (if that's possible) but there was also no upward motion (surprise). So they have less than a month to make things happen and the pressure is on.

Of course Mike should have been feeling this pressure the moment he started the first show on "the Edge", but in true O'Meara fashion he coasted carelessly through each show.

Now he is thinking to himself, "hey, what's the problem here, well it can't be me, I'm still shitting bricks of radio gold each morning?" "I show up on time and I even brought my own instant replay, what more can a DeeJay do?" "It must be that fucking Kirk!"

So, yet another jealous asshole attempts to ruin Mike's career!

How many female listeners do you think Howard Stern has?

The Junkies say they are #4 or something like that in that male demo. The Junkies rate a hell of a lot higher than LaVar and Dukes.

If that was the case, Mr. Fat, I find it hard to believe that 980 ranks so much higher overall than Lavar & Dukes (according to the DCRTV list). Every single week 980 well outperforms L&D and I find it hard to believe it's because they have a larger base of women listening. That doesn't add up.

More than likely I think Chad's inflating things. I believe they probably do well in the key male demo, but I find it difficult to believe it's better than any station in the market except TOP.

Stern has a much larger female base than a sports show in the afternoon on a station that has NEVER drawn female listeners.

So yes, Chad is telling the truth. They have great ratings in their key demo.

The ONLY data I have found regarding the show in that demo was when WJFK switched over to sports talk and Lavar and Chad debuted in the #5 spot in that demo. Considering how the numbers for the show have crumbled since, I seriously doubt they grew to #2.

I agree that Chad is over-inflating the numbers. You can parse these things a million ways, and I'm sure Chad is referring to how they are #2 with some obscure sub-group within the male demo (fat guys with long hair who still wear baseball caps backwards in their 30s, for instance).

a couple of months ago on the failcast, Robbay told a story about how he almost set his brand new car on fire by crossing the jumper cables. It should be noted that he put himself and his family in danger, and then blamed his own stupidity on someone else mismarking the negative and positive ends of the battery.

Oh, and rather than realizing what he did wrong when the smoke started rising from both cars, he decided to call 911. Rob did his best to laugh at himself and be self deprecating over the whole deal but still felt the need to lie about the circumstances to try and make himself not look too fucking stupid.

He said that the red and black caps were reversed by the manufacturer.(so there was a little bit of an out there for him) That is impossible since the red and black plastic caps and posts are slightly different sizes to avert just such an occurrence. They are not reversable. Go check out your own car and you'll see what I mean.

Additionally, every set of jumper cables I've come across has a set of instructions printed on fucking Kevlar attached to the cables. To go one step further, most batteries have a + and - sign molded INTO THE FUCKING PLASTIC that encases the battery.

Regardless of how the wires got crossed, etc, there are a few standard things you should do from a safety perspective when jump starting a car. First, you attach the two ground leads to the cable on both batteries. You don't just slap both cables onto a battery at once. If Rob(b) had done it properly...attempted to ground the batteries first, he would have seen the arc the second he tried to put the hot lead on to complete the connection. I have to assume dumbshit just slapped the two leads on the dead battery and then on the live battery and didn't hang around long enough to see the sparking begin.

On both of these shows I hear all the laughing but I swear to gawd jack I rarely hear anything that makes me spontaneously laugh. I hear them all cackling away and I wonder have I missed something. Then last night I see Robin Williams on the Letterman show and I found myself laughing out loud many times. I also laugh out loud at a lot of the jokes and bits Jimmy Kimmel does during his opening monologue. Now maybe these folks ain't your cup of tea but still I think these dudes are funny and talented. Something that is woefully lacking from O'Meara et al these days. Maybe it's all a ruse and LFF's like O'Meara deep down realize they aren't funny at all but they got nowhere to go at this point and thus the ongoing cackling at nothing at all.

It would be funnier if they would just use one of those old fake laugh tracks from some old 1970's sitcom.

Even the old D&M show you would have to listen sometimes for a few hours before something (you never knew what) but something would happen and you would rolling on the floor laughing with tears running down your cheek.

Don's new show is beginning to capture some of the old magic and is worth a listen. He's also pretty good on "Good day Sac" which is streamed online 9 to 11 am.

Mike just assumes he is putting out the same product. The incessant and manufactured morning zoo style cackling increases the odds of fooling the listener into thinking any given piece of shit bit he throws out might be funny. I'm sure every once in awhile he is funny. The problem is you have to wade through endless hours of absolute mind numbing zoo style scat it's not worth it.

O'Meara and his crew are massively un-funny. If the podcast weren't such a thrown-together amateur hour, MOM would invest in phone technology and engage the listeners, a la Ron and Fez.

But - one wonders: Would the MOM phone lines be "locked and loaded" during the show or would the same five listeners call over and over?

MOM's ego blinds him to the fact that the only people who find his tired act funny are Rob(b), Ronic, Buzz and Oscar.

I doubt I've been able to endure more than ten minutes of the podcast at any one time - the primary reason being Rob(b) won't shut up or tone down the cackling and forced laughter at every MOM utterance.

I know Rob(b) has to kiss MOM's ass daily to keep his "job" - but jeez, can't he throttle back the MOM worship about 50%?

Options: ReplyQuote
Re: The Mike O'Meara Show

The biggest problem with MOM and the failcast is Mike doesn't know what's funny. Don would keep Buzz and Rob(b) on a short leash because he knew they were inherently unfunny unless given some guidance and used in a very limited fashion. Mike has talent as a mimic, but it was the scenarios that Don set up for Mike that were funny. Having Harry Potter use the voice of Harry Morgan...funny. Having Bob Barker passive aggressively refer to "Bob's Bitches"...that was funny.

Mike just doing the voice of Ahnold without a premise behind it isn't funny.

It's so pathetic it's funny. Mike says whatever then sits there with that stupid fat fucking grin on his face (like in the video above) soaking it all in while the cast chortles like walruses.
It's really a spectacle to watch. The listener comes away with the impression of how can a group of adult men be so fucking stupid.

Audio Tape of The Don and Mike Show from 1990 when they were hosting the WAVA 105.1fm Morning Zoo Show in Washington, D.C. (Arlington, V.A.)

I so remember the Mazda Miata(sp?) give away!!

Remember Mike's keyboard, remember the cavalcade, remember when there was no Rob(b)?

Just two fat, white, catholics, those were some good shows!

They were fat, they were white, they were catholic and they were sick of it!

I was in grade school listening to them on a boom box that I paid for by raking leaves and the like. HA!

At least Don is doing OK.

Less than an hour ago Robbbbbb changed his FB pic to this....a red faced drunk and balding talentless fatass. All this pic does is look like he has had a case of cheap beer and his hair is moving from his head to his neck and back. Just put up a logo. I would have more respect for him.

They both are incredibly dated and unfunny to me. It's like listening to a very old man trying to be relevant and interesting while people listening are simply embarrassed for him.

Congrats on the Sacramento ratings though I guess. Making it big time there.

Hey if you think 25 year old shtick is hilarious, have fun listening.

It would appear that Rob(b) is manipulating his photo to make himself look thinner. Heaven forbid he should actually eat less.

He is turning into Homer Simpson. I would say his haircut is "Business in the front and party in the back" but Rob doesn't have a job, nor business, nor much hair.

That is not the look of a man who is putting on a suit and going out looking for a job.

I didn't realize you could get sun-burned in March. Look at Rob(b)'s cheeks.

I wonder is Carrie even talks to him anymore. I don't doubt that there is an icy silence whenever she's around.

Rob(b) needs to research "Walkaway Wife Syndrome." When a wife has made the decision to leave, she puts on a facade like there is nothing wrong. All the time she is working behind the scenes to get her ducks lined up in a row. Then, one day, when the husband least expects it...bam! Here come the divorce papers.

Doesn't excessive drinking cause one's face to flush red?

Maybe that's what's going on here.

sometimes sarcasism doesn't translate well over a message board. No need to act like an asshole.

That, and the fact that he is so ashamed of how fat he is that he is manipulating his Facebook profile photo to look less fat. I mean, look how distorted his chin and mouth are. He's obviously elongated his face in an effort to look thin. Maybe he should just try to lose some fucking weight instead.

You're right. Look at that line on his neck, aka, his "real chin". It's not even a good Photoshop. I should know...I tried to alter an old photo of my face once to take off a few pounds, and it was painfully obvious what I'd done, so I trashed it. Robb should have done the same.

If Rob(b) spent as much time filling out job applications as he did photoshopping his profile pic, he might have been able to provide for his family by now.
