My understanding is Don had interest from larger markets like Houston but chose Sacramento because D&M had such a large following there. The station also gave him the control he wanted, hence he has turned the station around.
LFF had the chance to do the same thing. He could have picked a smaller D&M-friendly market. Instead, he chose to "save Citadel" and did a coup de grace to his broadcasting career.
Whatever you think of Don's style, he is a savvy broadcaster. LFF is an oaf who has been self-immolating ever since Don left.
