Nah, the auditions in Florida are probably going great:

"It's 7:05 good-guy time on WOLD in beautiful Fort Myers, I'm Mike O'Meara, your morning cruise director, here with WOLD's Breakfast Bunch . . ."

Mortgage is under water, O'Meara complains about being broke and 'working' for janitor's wages @ WVRX - so what's the logical next step?

Yes, take a vacation you can't afford!

I guess in the end it won't matter, O'Meara will probably default of the Manassas mortgage and the credit cards so why would he care?

I was listening to the end of The Edge show this morning and Kirk started busting Mike's balls a bit about Jim Norton and Mike became his bitchy self. Funny. Mike's skin really is thin.

I never in my life understood why people do crazy shit when they're broke. I've had money problems in days past and the last thing I could do was take a vacation. I would always be worried about crap piling up at home. No way could I relax and unwind spending money while in debt, arrears and taking on water.

I've recently had a neighbor who I know for a fact is teetering on the verge of loosing everything. What does she do? She goes out and buys a new sports car.A piece of shit sports car at that. And they still go out to all the finest restaurants at least2 or 3 times a week also. Hell they go more places then I do! it is kind of like these idiots know they are being sentenced to death but they're going to live it up until then.

I've known people like that. They are like the Salahis. They don't view the world the way most normal people do. We feel obligated to pay for what we use. The way these parasites work is that they pay what your lawyer can force them to pay.

I'm not saying Mike is like this. I just think he's in denial. As I've said before, it will take the sheriff showing up at the house to throw his shit on the lawn to really wake him up.

Mike is definitely living in denial...

He is basically renting (and paying way too much for) the house he is living in now. He also maintains his "vacation home" in FL. He is still buying a new car every other year, and making the occasional trip to the fabulous Hollywood casino to blow whatever is left in his account at the end of the month.

However I do give him half credit for "trying".
His appearance at the Hadeed Carpet tent recently comes to mind. This is an appearance that he normally would have blown off, however he stuck it out. This may have been due to station management pressure or possibly his own conscience telling him that he could use the extra cash. So kudos to O'Meara for that one moment of clarity.

But, I'm sure he blew his "appearance fee" during his first 5 minutes at a local Ft Myers watering hole.

I love how Oscar is openly admitting he won't break up with Kara because he won't 'throw away three years on something so stupid'. She's either banging, or actively trying to bang, other guys but hey, it's a three year relationship.

Then he follows up with honestly thinking that actively flirting is very healthy while you are in a relationship. I swear he's somewhat of an emotional midget.

Oscar is very superficial...

We all know this. I really don't think he can do much better (in his mind) at the moment. He is working at Earthwalk and doing podcasts on the side. If a DJ gig in AZ landed in his lap, Kara would be toast. With his current financial/social wealth it's going to be tough for our doughy Bolivian friend to land a piece comparable to Kara.

He is going to hang on to this crazy bitch until she either dumps him (or kills him). She is the equivalent of the used Audi he bought. She's the flashiest thing he can afford at the moment. Now that he's not on the radio his pimp hand is not as strong as it used to be.

Still to sit there and say YOU BETTER SHOW ME THOSE TEXTS on one hand and then immediately say how he won't break up with her no matter what... why the fuck would she show him the texts? She's obviously fucking (or trying to fuck) the guy so why tell Oscar shit?

And what grown adult thinks serious flirting is healthy while you are in a committed three year relationship?

Indeed it is. I remember one morning on the show, when Mike was detailing everything he had eaten that weekend and how he had just gone completely overboard with the gluttony. I was actually enjoying the refreshing honesty--not riveting radio, to be sure, but entertaining enough. Then some guy called in, I guess to bust his balls, and Mike's jovial manner immediately changed. He sarcastically and instantaneously hung up on the guy, bitching that he wasn't going to tolerate ball-busting and insulting the caller without ever having exchanged a single word with him. It was kind of amazing how quickly, and how completely, Mike's tone changed. He wasn't putting on some kind of schtick, I don't think...he sounded genuinely pissed, and even started yelling.

Soooo...Mike can call himself a fatass, but no one else can? That's really insecure behavior, right there (especially for a radio personality). Either you put all your shit out there on the air and let people comment, or you don't tell the story. You don't tell it and then hang up immediately at the first sign of negative vibes. How is that a winning formula for an entertaining program?

I just can't help thinking how Don would have handled this. Well, to be honest, I couldn't tell you exactly how, but I bet it would've been funny, instead of making me feel uncomfortable, like someone witnessing a vitriolic argument between two strangers. That's not the feeling I'm supposed to get from a "comedic" radio show, unless I missed something.

Mike thinks yelling at and hanging up on callers is entertaining shock-jock radio. Also he just doesn't know what to do when he gets a "heckler" anyways.

Actually, if Don had brought up Jim Norton like Kirk had done and gotten the reaction Mike gave Kirk, Don would have dug deeper and gotten Mike more and more pissed off until all the issues were aired. It would be uncomfortable, but also very entertaining.

Don and Mike work on two levels of comedy.

Don is in the Andy Kaufman school of making people so uncomfortable it becomes funny.

Mike is of the "According to Jim" variety, where people who don't know what funny is write jokes that sound like they should be funny but really aren't.

Don doesn't tell jokes. He pushes buttons until the situation becomes funny. Mike tells unfunny jokes.

I don't think it's about Mike having no balls. He has no self-confidence or self-esteem. He can't take any criticism because he knows it is true.

That and the fact he is actually expected to work by the bosses at Citadel. He used to waltz in at the last minute at WJFK. I think the Edge management has been busting his balls for several months now.

I can't suppress my total amusement at a situation where diva O'Meara has to slog into WVRX each am for "janitor's" wages, while CBS over-pays the bumbling, fumbling, unlistenable Junkies amateur hour on JFK, that fact has to drive the big guy crazy: "How could this be happening? And perchance his financial situation is due in part to his ramped-up assholenish behavior. I used to like Mike, but I never listen anymore because he is so unbearable. Don being mean = funny. Mike being mean = asshole.

The fact that he openly wishes that The Fan will fail, including supposed show "friend" Chad Dukes just goes to show how hopelessly angry and bitter he remains. You'd think some people would've gotten over it by now (i.e. everybody but him).

As for not being able to handle ball-busting callers on The Edge is proof why there hasn't been any Skype call-in feature on the failcast yet. All we get as far as "fan interaction" on the failcast are sappy, hand-picked love letters to the show (half probably written by Robb).

I'm still dumbfounded by Mike's entitlement mentality. Like WJFK owed him a job. Like Don wasn't supposed to go on with his life without him. Like Rob(b), Buzz and Oscar are supposed to nosedive into the poorhouse to support Mike's fragile ego. The guy is a piece of work.

Sounds like he really enjoyed his vacation and came back all rested and full of new positive energy to move the shows forward while inspiring everyone to bring forth their best efforts.

I FF"D through yesterdays p cast and caught the part where RJ or someone text Mike to listen to Oscar bitch about his skank. Mike got all irate saying this interrupts his vacation bs or something stating at some point he doesn't listen to his own show because "it ooghs him out."

No shit Mike?!!

I guess I got a news bulletin for ya pal. "It" Ooghs all of us out!

The best way to improve his show is not to listen to it. Hmmm. Interesting...and predictable...approach.

That is no shit WTL.

The dumb ass is so easy to read it's ridiculous. He starts out yesterdays podcast with a sarcastic comment about how he is always in such a great mood after his radio show. The guy acts like a juvenile working at burger king who hates his job and co-workers and is just there to punch the clock. Must make Kirk feel great. All this BS on his first day back from vacation.

Don just returned from a week off and it's worth a listen to his first day back to strike the difference between attitudes and personalities.

Oh and I think I heard Mike talk about producing the next pay-per with just his mother in-law and Carla sitting at a table smoking cigarillos.

That sounds funny. Because it's stupid.

I heard Mike give a half-hearted apology to Shamrock this morning for supposedly fucking up the timing of their interview with Bruce Boudreau. I would have to assume Mike threw a temper tantrum on the air for Boudreau being late by a few minutes. Great radio professional there.

I didn't catch the actual psychotic episode, just the apology. It must have been pretty bad for Mike to apologize on the air...or maybe Kirk or the PD said something to him afterwards. I don't recall Mike apologizing much to people at JFK.

Don't you know Carla's brilliant? She's a CFO!!! Now do you want half-an-half or creamer in that coffee.

Oh, the screaming and moaning is real. But the organ in question is her spleen, which is getting crushed by the gross tonnage, not her vagina.

DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT CFO MEANS? IT'S AN ABBREVIATION FOR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER. A CFO IS The executive who is responsible for financial planning and record-keeping for a company. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU THINK GETTING COFFEE HAS TO DO WITH THAT JOB, BECAUSE I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT OTHER PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE ARE BRINGING CARLA COFFEE. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

WHY ARE YOU ALL SUCH HATERS?

I know what a CFO is, and CFOs don't answer phones for the office...which is part of Carla's job description on the company website.

Also, companies with three or four employees don't have CFOs.

Carla is an office manager. She is not a CFO. Her bosses might want to stroke her ego while paying her $40K a year, or whatever they pay her, but the fact is she is not a CFO in the truest sense of the word.

For further clarification...

Most CFOs of large companies have finance qualifications such as an MBA or come from an accounting background. A finance department would usually contain some accountants with Certified Public Accountant or equivalent status. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, enacted in the aftermath of several major U.S. accounting scandals, requires at least one member of a public company's audit committee to be a financial expert.

Calling yourself a "CFO" of a three or four person operation is merely "make believe." Also, I would be interested in knowing if she's an actual officer of the company...which means she is on the incorporation paperwork and partially liable for any legal issues that could arise at the company.

Only a highly skilled CFO can make a laminate tabletop shine like that!

BTW, know anyone who would be interested in renting these top-notch facilities? No, ok then.

Why, to do something as technologically advanced as that I'm sure you would need a fiber connection to a satellite up-link facility, a ton of pricey equipment and a fleet of technical staff on standby.

No, just a laptop? OK then.

It's kind of weird for some average joe to want to see a podcast "go away". Is the podcast that much of an intrusion in your life?

The podcaster "gets the oogies" from listening to his own podcast. Why wouldn't the "average Joe" want it to go away? Especially if podcasts creator thinks it is crap and won't listen.

You know really! Sometimes we write stuff here that is so brilliant I'll read it several times just enjoying the free comedy at Mikes expense. Mike really thinks he is a "serious broadcaster" and still can't come close to the entertainment value found right here on this little thread.

But hey! All you supporters don't wait too long to buy that platinum package for "The Big Duff2"

The Big Duff II returns on Saturday, May 21 and this year’s going to be bigger! A day of golf with Mike, Buzz, Robb, Oscar and the rest of the TMOS family at Cameron Hills Golf Links in King George, VA. Then it’s on to our “End of the World” after-party later that evening at an undisclosed location. There are 4 options to choose from so pick your poison and spend the weekend with TMOS!

Undisclosed location guys!...... (See that way you won't have to worry about the throngs of regular fans that show up and crowd the venue for the VIP crowd like happened last year)

True but it is still a spectacle to behold. Mike yapping his fat fucking face through a bull horn when he could have just talked to the 20 or so unassisted.
It will be interesting to see if they use the left over trophies from last year, this year.

Also noticed they have only 2 comments from the 15 to 17 thousand people who download everyday referencing the golf thing. And one of them is a guy from out of town trying to dicker on the price. Fucking hilarious.

Also this damn thing isn't even a charity event. It is all for the promotion of his podcast.

And they expect to sell 112 tickets? That would make it a $15k event. It will be fun watching this failure as it progresses.

Excellent points...

That kiddy toy bullhorn made Mike feel like slightly less of a douche I guess. It's nice to have a prop to hide behind, no matter how small it is.

The video kind of brought to my attention how the "marketing" language has changed since then. It's no longer 15-17,000 listeners a day, it's overinflated gross downloads. What are they claiming 6 million now?

Two comments, nice! I guess the other 100,000+ "down-loaders" are too busy listening to the failcast and yanking it.

So let's say they sell out and rake in the 15k max they are looking to achieve. The golf joint will take half, maybe 45% if they are lucky, since they are providing the facility, food and lodging. So they are looking at around 2k a piece. IF A MIRACLE HAPPENS AND THEY SELL OUT.

Realistically they are looking at a couple of hunge each if they are lucky. So Mike can gas up his Dodge for the drive out there. As always $0 in charitable donations.

I can't blame Mike for taking a vacation to Florida , attempting to do his own podcast (even if it does suck balls) or actually spending time with his friends and family.

At least it seems like he actually goes out and lives his life... unlikle most of the shut-in internet hermits on this board that eerily watch his every move in a bizarre cyber-stalkerish fashion. Very creepy and a huge waste of time.

As I see it, the only active DC area radio "career" in the above named individuals is O'Meara himself. The other three radio legends aren't getting direct deposits from Clear Channel, Citadel, CBS, etc.

Soooooo, why oh why didn't O'Meara demand that Citadel hire at least one of his merry krew when he landed the VRX am gig?

Buzz and Oscar could probably find jobs in radio if they were willing to leave the area and work in smaller markets for less money than they were making at WJFK. Rob(b), on the other hand, has no future in radio at any level. He might be able to get by on some minimum wage overnight gig in BFE playing Foghat. But is that really "a career?"

The creepiness comes from the realization that a bunch of anonymous people on this forum busting on the MOM crew's ineptitude is infinitely funnier than the shit being spewed on the failcast. It's the creepy realization that despite their own overly inflated egos, the MOM crew deep down inside know they've got nothing.

Oh god. You two have as thick a skin as O'Meara. If you can't take getting your balls busted on an internet forum, stay the fuck off. It's not the fuckin' UN.

Having a comeback isn't the same as being thin skinned. Mike's temper tantrums are not "a comeback."

I like how Oscar lumped Kari in with "everything else that is going on in my life".
You can probably read the whole MOMS BS in with that too. He should try and start with a clean slate in that respect to. Hopefully he is done with the skank. She is most likely still banging the other dude and a few more if I know her type. I don't know how many biznatches I've met down here just as hot, if not more so.Jesus I hate to see people put themselves in that spot. He must be a fairly decent dude or God would have allowed him to drop the 20gr or so on that ring. (Which is probably the only reason she wants to work things out.
