the mental image of shaking a baby's hand and saying 'alright, bud, have a good one...' is funny to me. I like to have my own baby so I could treat it and interact with it like it was a grown-up. I will not do 'baby talk'. I will talk to my baby the same way I talk to my therapist sometimes.....I'll use large words with the baby, like "conflagration", "deleterious", and "matriculate". We'll talk about German expressionist cinema and things like politics and Hermain Cain. And I won't hesitate to bust the baby's balls....I'll say things like "hey baby, where'd you get that diaper? ...Osh-Kosh-B'Gosh?" and he'll laugh and give me a look like 'F you, man....you're a real ball-buster'......and we'll laugh it off and I'll give him a good-natured punch in the shoulder. It'll be like, "aww, you knuckle-head, you know I love 'ya..."
this is the kind of relationship I would like to have with a baby. My baby and I will be best buds....I'll have his back and he'll have mine. I'll let him borrow stuff, and he'll help me out of a jam from time to time.....and even if things get too heated, if one of us has too much to drink or something and we get into a fight, it'll be okay....we'll always know that no matter what, we're pals, through and through. The baby can help me move, and I can help the baby get some food sometimes if it ever gets hungry.
that's how I see my relationship with a baby. Just sitting around, shooting the shit with a baby, knocking back a few root beers, eating potato chips, watching the game, talking about chicks and stuff like that.
that's my baby.
