In closing, I just saw the 5th Christmas themed commercial in a hour. Being a Jew during the Christmas season is like being completely uninterested in NCAA basketball during March Madness but still having to be surrounded by it for 6 weeks straight. I think a better use of a petition would be to get rid of chuckhoffmann and the phantasm known as inkahootz. Those two are more malicious than Misery could ever be.

If Cary made the decision, let it go, this guy Cary is a pretty smart cookie, I also get the impression he's the type to bend over backwards to give someone a break or a second chance. If in fact Misery did get banned (which i doubt) you can bet your last dollar it was for a damn good cause, so don't be a sap and shed tears over someone who got his just desserts. Like Virgil said to Dante "don't shed tears over these souls in hell, they deserve the punishment".

I don't believe Mr. Misery has such the capability to handle such an activity. His mental issues clearly fog his functionality. Due to this limitation, the best he could probably do is play Mr. Warren, but use a location with free wi-fi because when a ban gets placed, they can also ban the IP address of your Internet Service Provider.

Cary does in fact have the ability to see the IP addresses and, I believe, even the hostnames for every post on this site.

Since so many people have multiple user names on this site, what Cary should do when he's banning somebody is:

1) Note the IP address of the account he's about to put on the ban list.
2) Block that user's account.
3) Note subsequent connections from that IP address and see what accounts the person is using.
4) Block each account that uses that IP address.

He should not block the IP address itself until the user gives up trying to use his registered accounts and switches to posting anonymously.

Another idea would be to make all IP addresses visible to all users (which the Phorum software does allow), but that would violate Cary's goal of making an anonymous forum available for everyone.

I have other ideas, but they're not fully fleshed-out yet and I would not waste my time working on them (since many of them would require writing code) unless I thought there was the remotest chance of Cary actually implementing them.

Chuck, your suggestions wouldn't work on a person like you, who has admitted to leaching off wifi in the neighborhood and using public library computers as well.

I would give your suggestions an A+. I hope the powers to be look into that procedure.

I know he would play both ends against the middle. He would post the most ludicrous junk, then go on and suck up to Cary by saying what a fine upstanding guy Cary was. Almost got you to think he knew the guy personally. He had that irritating habit of trying to come across as a rebel with a cause, then suck up to the establishment, which never endears you to others.
