I think that the good parts of Clarendon include northside social (try the classic cappuccino) and the first floor bartenders at eventide (try the Sazerac). Otherwise, avoid. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a hookah at guarapo.

When I was a teenager, I had a friend who loved in the high rise right above the IHOP on Fairfax Drive. We'd throw things from her balcony at the Arlington drunks who would wander to the IHOP at 3am. My favorite weapon was wet balls of TP that would explode into 736184 little pieces on contact. The yuppies and frat boys and Clarendon whores would get super pissed and scream all sorts of obscenities and threats at us, yet had no clue who/where we were. It was awesome.
