He has turned this team totally around and is not rewarded. I don't like how he did it but I understand why he did it. The Marlins position has nothing to do with his decision. I expect the Nats to work out a last minute fix with him and he will end up staying. He sure timed it perfectly. They are the hottest team in baseball right now. Won 11 or last 12 and in 6 of the wins they scored 2 runs or less. That is great baseball.

I understand why he did it, but I also understand why this kind of move is almost never rewarded. Besides, it's not like Riggleman is Joe Torre. It's only a matter of time before he turns into a pumpkin again.

I think Rizzo's personnel moves have had more to do with the team's success than Riggleman. Riggleman has a track record of flaming out on teams. I can understand why Rizzo wouldn't commit past this year. At the same time, it's a clusterfuck for both sides.

Well first fuck spelling. Second, yes he is having a good run right now, but come october and they are sub .425 looking at another top 5 pick in the draft, then no dice. He was bitter he was going to get another 1 year contract, so what, last place managers get that. If he had this team looking at .500 and not in last place by september, then it is time to talk long term. But besides that he was brought on to keep the ship afloat, until the talent matured. If he showed results then maybe he can pull off a long term deal.

I went to my first baseball game at new Nationals Park in its inaugural season. about 40% of the urinals were broken.

I went to get my family hot dogs in the 4th inning.ALL vendors were SOLD OUT!, stating that they didn't expect such a huge crowd.

I have attended games every season since they have been at Nationals Park
Beers are warm!

The stadium is "Econo-model"- nothing like Camden Yards.

The owership does not want to support a winning team- therefore they will not pay a winning Manager what he deserves!

"Ownership" doesn't own the stadium. Nor do they own the food vendors.

Riggs had the same guys on the field yesterday that he did at the beginning of the season. Shouldn't a "winning manager" have actually been winning prior to the 75th game of the season?

You can't judge Nationals Stadium on the inaugural season. I bitched about a day game a couple of years ago when they had similar problems with vendors. But since then, every experience I have had at the stadium has been good (except for the play on the field, until recently).

I've been to a bunch of MLB stadiums, including Camden Yards. For the most part the new HOK stadiums are all the same level of quality, etc. To argue that Camden Yards is better than Nationals Park is like arguing the Outback Steakhouse in Centreville is better than the Outback Steakhouse in Chantilly.

I heard Riggleman on the Junkies this morning. The only thing I can draw from it is that he had a bruised ego and quit. He kept bringing up his years of experience and only rookie managers should be treated like this. Like I said, it's not like the guy was Joe Torre. He had one of the worst records in MLB.

He should have been a bit more contrite, bit his tongue and toughed it out until the fall. Even if the Nationals didn't pick him up for 2012, he would have stood a better chance of another team picking him up as manager.

As it is now, he is probably seen as a diva. That might have worked for Pete Rose back in the day, but it won't work for someone like Riggleman now.

Camden Yards is nice, but I honestly think PNC Park in Pittsburgh is a nicer venue to catch a game.

It's great that the team is above .500. But a lot of that has to do with the mix of players they came up with. The Nats sucked so long under Bowden because he kept wheeling and dealing for these Dominican league rejects. Rizzo has a philosophy on how to build the team and he's doing a pretty good job. I expect he will pick a good manager for 2012, too.

I forgot to add specifically that I'm talking about an end-of-season record.

Look at the Redskins play pattern over the last few years... looking good a few games into the season, then one or two bad losses piss off the team and fans and the rest of the season is done. It's like calling the Redskins turned around five games into the regular season. Riggleman can get on the radio and bitch when there is a postseason game at Nationals Stadium.
