Who's Watching The SOTU Address?
Posted by: mcsmack ()
Date: January 24, 2011 09:50PM

Not me. I didn't catch the first one. I also didn't watch GW Bush's last three. Reagan was my favorite and I'll be damned if I can remember one of his. I remember his "Gorbachev tear down this wall" speech but that's about it.

If Boehner starts crying I'm sure we'll see it on replay.

I mean really. It will be jobs creation, deficit reduction and "investment".Wow!

It is always billed by the mainstream press as the most important speech in whoever's political career. What a crock. If it is so damn important why can't we remember last years?

Jindal looked like a tard. I remember that. Was that last year or 09? Some of the morons will be sitting together as a symbolic gesture that is suppose to make us love them and one another. I bet they think this will make the Tea Party disappear or something. Like magic. We are truly being ruled by a bunch of immature juveniles.

Don't you want to see the republicans and democrats sitting together, holding hands and acting gay?

Well, some of them are acting.

I think Reagan's Challenger speech was good too. Short one though.

I never watch these things. This is like the third president in a row whose voice I can't stand. When I hear him on TV or the radio I immediately mute or change the station. There is nothing to be gained by listening to these jokers; I can get my news elsewhere.

Remember in the days before 900 channel satellite TV, when the SOTU speech took over all of the channels? That sucked.

Plus, I can sum up the SOTU in 3 words...Broke. As. Fuck.

You have a point. That might have some entertainment value. If NBC's goons or whomever overlay comment about who's sitting by who and such. Could be some double entendre gay references worth catching. Boehner will be sitting by Joe. Might see some action there.

I never watch SOTU - mostly tis theatrics really. Will sometimes read the highlights in the paper the next day. It's mostly wish-casting it seems. Don't really see the point. But it does indicate the mood the current leader wants the country to head towards suppose that's the only interesting thing to come out of it.

Well here is the text. No surprise he went straight to the Tuscon massacre card. Especially after being lauded in the mainstream for his first response being his greatest moment on teleprompter. I haven't read the whole thing but Let's count the "I's, investments and battle for the future references.

I better leave that alone because my question would be.

Where is your birth certificate? Can you show me?

That would get censored off fast.

"With more research and incentives, we can break our dependence on oil with biofuels, and become the first country to have 1 million electric vehicles on the road by 2015." Barrack Obama 2011 SOTU Address

Kind of like the Incentives back in late 90's early 2000's that led to 10 years and 42,000 Factories in the US being closed. It does not matter whether its a Republican or Democrat in the white house the US is a plutocracy. The Government is bought and sold and controlled by the rich for the rich.

Hey dude! believe it or not I am working with a company that produces frozen concoctions consumed by the Chinese that is best described as a frozen pea pop-sickle or Slurpee. Don't think there is a big demand here in the U.S. but I could have some sent to you free of charge. It's comparable to products sold at 7eleven's in our country. Absolutely disgusting. But there is about 1 billion people over there that can't get enough. I am only too happy to oblige.

Obama;

"We need to get behind this innovation. And to help pay for it, I’m asking Congress to eliminate the billions in taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’re doing just fine on their own. So instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in tomorrow’s."

Hello $5.00 per gallon gasoline. We are going to be just like Europe!

O

"Now, clean energy breakthroughs will only translate into clean energy jobs if businesses know there will be a market for what they’re selling. So tonight, I challenge you to join me in setting a new goal: by 2035, 80% of America’s electricity will come from clean energy sources. Some folks want wind and solar. Others want nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas. To meet this goal, we will need them all – and I urge Democrats and Republicans to work together to make it happen."

Noticeably missing here? ... Renewable energy resources, i.e. methanol.

Obama;

"Within 25 years, our goal is to give 80% of Americans access to high-speed rail, which could allow you go places in half the time it takes to travel by car. For some trips, it will be faster than flying – without the pat-down. As we speak, routes in California and the Midwest are already underway."

First and foremost, why "without pat-downs"? Terrorists won't ride high speed trains where 280,000,000 U.S. citizens are in transit?

This is after he just got done rattling on about education of children so lets do some math... 80% of 350,000,000 people getting "access" (whatever that means) to high speed rail. That equates to only 280,000,000 people on trains in any measure at any given time. Let's just say half that number is in transit on rail. Using his targeted goal that would equate 140,000,000 million HSR passengers. In comparison to air traffic there's approximately 7,500 flights in the air over the continental United States every day. If each plane was full that would be about 250 people per flight that would be a lot of people, 1,875,000 to be exact. The market obviously is not there for high speed rail in respect to demand alone. The infrastructure to meet his goals is too ridiculous to expound on. There is no amount of "incentive that I can think of that would make this work. Mass transit high speed rail in the U.S. is not only a money loser and impossible, it is insane.

From the AP...

FACT CHECK: Obama and his imbalanced ledger
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110126/ap_on_re_us/us_state_of_union_fact_check_5

He is so full of crap it isn't even funny.

About the only reason he came out ahead is because he extended the current tax policy. But they will never see huge savings in Medicare costs if they continue to pass resolutions blocking the reduction of the payments.
