We ought to take a moment of quietness to remember how the media tried to keep it quiet.

You also missed the anniversary of Drudge's report on Clinton's illegitimate black son with a prostitute--that was two weeks ago. As I recall, the MSM tried to keep that one quiet too...

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX 01/06/99 03:58 UTC XXXXX

WOMAN NAMES BILL CLINTON FATHER OF SON IN SHOCKING VIDEO CONFESSION

**World Exclusive**

In a shocking new videotaped confession viewed by the DRUDGE REPORT late Tuesday, an Arkansas woman claims that President Bill Clinton is the father of her 13-year old son.

He's been told all of his life by his mother that Bill Clinton is his father, and late last month, 13-year old Danny Williams of Arkansas underwent a DNA test to find out the truth.

The story of Bobbie Ann Williams and her child Danny hit world media and rocked the White House this week after it was revealed that STAR MAGAZINE and ace investigative reporter Richard Gooding have exclusively signed Williams and his family to a paternity showdown.

Test results could not be learned Tuesday night. Gooding and Star magazine editors offered few details on the status of the story, even to their closest associates.

"It is his," Ms. Williams tells PARAMOUNT's HARD COPY in a videotaped confession recently made by the syndicated TV show. With tears rolling down her face, Williams reveals intimate details about her relationship with Bill Clinton.

"He was good to me, he gave me money," she tells HARD COPY. "No, I'm not scared."

Also interviewed on the video is Williams' sister. She tells HARD COPY how she first doubted her sister's claims.

"I thought she was joking, you know, she was running around in the streets... But when the kid was born, he looked just liked Bill Clinton.

"We would go to grocery stores, people would say 'That's Bill Clinton's son!' because he looks just like him!" the woman declares.

"Now that he's older -- he even looks more like him...

"Bill Clinton needs to take responsibility for his son, pay child support, like everyone else."

HARD COPY executives have not decided if and when they will air the interviews, which were conducted in Arkansas.

It is not known how much HARD COPY paid, if anything, for the sessions.

Could Bobbie Ann Williams and her sister be blackmailing the President of the United States with outrageous and false claims of sex for money and the pregnancy that resulted?

What becomes immediately obvious to the viewer watching the videotaped confession is that this is clearly not gossip, rumor or anonymous charges being maliciously directed at a politician.

Bobbie Ann Williams does not hide her face in shadow when she names Bill Clinton as the father of her son.

And there is something sad and lonely about the woman's story the way she tells it.

To accuse the most powerful man in the world of being the father of her son is either the hoax of a lifetime, or a personal turmoil that needs resolution.

Only two people may know that answer tonight.

Developing...

So was Drudge wrong about Lewinsky also?

How do you feel to defend a media that consistently ignores stories that hurt their agenda? You've apparently forgave the Washington Post and NY Times for endorsing the invasion of Iraq.

I guess as long as its not on FOX its all true, right?

Drudge isn't news--he is in the sensationalism business. As I said yesterday, journalism is a process and the media isn't monolithic. Plenty of mistakes are made and I am frequently not satisfied with stories I read. I do reject this silly notion that the MSM has "an agenda"--that they all get together and try to figure out how to advance liberal causes. Fox is the only news organization I know of that does that. MSNBC certainly has an agenda but I don't consider them a news organization since they only do opinion--no straight reporting.

As for the Lewinsky story, my point was that there was plenty of reason to be skeptical about Drudge's allegation. The Enquirer turned out to be right about John Edwards too but who in their right mind would have taken their story at face value? When credible sources and evidence started emerging the MSM reported them in both cases. Both stories were told--how exactly did journalism fail there?

Journalism failed in the Lewinsky case because Newsweek killed a story when the allegations were credible and the majority of the other media deflected from the severity of the honesty breach, ie CNN running features with psychiatrists who insisted it was OK to lie if it "prevents someone from being hurt".

Is your media asking Obammy the same questions about Gitmo, renditioning etc" Is the media holding Obammy to task on his promises of transparency, removal of earmarks and posting legislation online? No.

If you think journalism is only successful if 100% of all stories are 100% accurate then I guess we might as well give up. There was no urgency to the Lewinsky story and we were at the dawn of the internet age, trying to determine where boundaries should be drawn. That fact that you know about the Newsweek piece--and allegations that they killed the story suggests that it was reported.

I do agree there were failures in the coverage of the run up to the Iraq war. They eventually got the story right, but in that case it was too late--after we had already launched an unnecessary war.

I agree with that part, she was a fucking treacherous snitch, regardless of the truth.

Personally I defended Clinton's dumb ass for months and didn't really care about the hummer, hell, who can blame him? I always thought Clinton was a still a decent prez after that but a pathological liar. I'm a happy cynic,I could live with a few extramarital lies.

This fucker really lost me after the Marc Rich pardon though. But I got to admit I would trade Obammy for Clinton any day of the week.

lol, i love the way these conservatives act as if their personal lives have nosedived over the past 2 years, it's like they're living in some retarded alternate universe. my taxes are slightly lower now and my investments have grown steadily after shrinking for years under Bush. yeah, the wars are still going on and there's alot of unemployment, but I'm not one of them. Yet somehow conservatives think I should feel "burned". it's just stupid.

+1 The country was practially in flames as Bush was leaving office. My net worth has completely recovered, I'm not afraid to open my account statements anymore, the company where I work just had it's best year, I got a raise after years of wage freezes, my house's value is recovering, my health insurance premiums actually went down for the first time in 20 years, my taxes are at all time lows despite making more money than I ever have. Why, exactly, am I supposed to feel burned?

I used to not even open them back in 07-08, it was depressing. But I'm actually a little anxious nowadays when I get them, it's nice seeing them grow again. But I hear the same dumb paranoia shit from rubes I grew up with, nothing but angry griping about the economy. I'm like "duh, you live in the middle of nowhere and work in construction, what are you expecting, to become a millionaire?".

It's easier to collect unemployment so you can stay home, get riled up about Fox News, illegal immigrants stealing your jobs, and elitists.

Kinda like how several news organizations at on the story of John Edwards with his Rielle Hunter love child? Took the "National Enquirer" to break the story.

Like I said, it's the middle of nowhere. Heaven forbid you'd have to drive over an hour to find work. And it's construction, so when the weather's shitty and you can't work outside, you file an unemployment claim- instead of, ya know, trying to find a better career for yourself.

If that's the way you wanna survive, so be it. But blaming a black guy with a funny-sounding last name for your predicament in life is just retarded.

We all know the type. But the question was, where are the shovel ready jobs?

I don't know cuz I don't care, but when you live out in the boondocks you shouldn't be surprised that there aren't alot of stimulus-related construction projects. It's all those immigrant construction workers in the city "stealing" those jobs.

Come on Meeper, thats weak, brother. We all know the type of people you're talking about and it's a nice little stereotype to deflect from the question.
They have it half right about the illegals driving wages down, but without moving out of sticks, they have no cause to bitch.

Now shovel ready jobs. They won't put the unwilling to work, but they would be good for the economy, maybe even for some people you don't like. Where are they??

CBO finds 3.7M jobs created by stimulus
By Jay Heflin - 05/26/10 08:30 AM ET

A report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office shows the Recovery Act has increased the number of workers by between 1.2 million and 2.8 million. The CBO also projects that 3.7 million jobs could be attributed to the stimulus by the end of September.

Why on earth would there be a [major] "shovel ready" project in a place where there's really nothing that needs to be built? It ain't my fault that major construction doesn't happen where you live. If you wanna pour concrete for a living and not drive into Manhattan or Philly everyday, maybe you should find another way to earn money.

Hmmm looks good on paper, but can you give me the rundown of how many of those are fulltime, non-seasonal jobs? What sectors?

Just asking.

Let's look at how MSNBC describes their programming --

NBC's Savannah Guthrie and Chuck Todd co-host "The Daily Rundown" which focuses on the top political stories of the day and includes reporting and analysis from the NBC News Washington bureau. The show airs from 9 -10 a.m. ET, Monday thru Friday.

NBC's Andrea Mitchell hosts an all political hour from 1 p.m. EST to 2 p.m. EST, Monday — Friday on MSNBC Dayside. The show features in depth interviews with high profiled figures and constant news updates.

Msnbc's Tamron Hall hosts the 2 p.m. hour ET from Monday to Friday concentrating on high profile interviews and the latest U.S., world and entertainment news.

Words like "reporting" and "constant news updates" don't sound like an "opinion only network." Oh, and a show like "News Nation" doesn't imply straight reporting?

So, the producers over at MSNBC must be lying, right?

No, but I can tell you this: all you have to do is look at every economic indicator and they all began to switch directions as the stimulus money kicked in. Yes, unemployment kept rising but the rate of increase slowed and eventually we started adding jobs again. People that want to find negative things to pick apart always can--go for it. You aren't going to support Obama in 2012 no matter what happens, but plenty of independents are starting to feel better about things.

Meeper, I don't work in construction and I was born and raised inside the Beltway, live there now and have most of my life. Stop acting like you are talking to the PA hoopies that used to pick on you in high school. These people may have something to do with your personal bias, but not this issue.

Shovel ready jobs were a big promise Obama made. Where are they?

You found one hour in their programming in the middle of the day called "News Nation" that I've never even heard of that's only been on the air for two months--congratulations. Joe Scarbourough and Pat Buchanan are given lots of air time--does that mean it is a conservative network?

Erm, these were my friends growing up. My only personal bias is that they spout the same ignorant, right-wing propaganda. It's sorta stupid to hear people bitch about how bad Obama has made their life when they don't even have a 401K and haven't worked a full 2,000 hour year for the past decade. It's just dumbness.

I actually found three hours of programming that the producers describe as having "constant news updates" and "reporting." So, again do those words signify an "opinion only" network? Plus, I can't be responsible for you forming opinions without having all the facts. Just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

So the fact that they give conservatives some air time means it is an "opinion only" network? Really? Seriously?

Also, let me know what time the Pat Buchanan show is on, I'd like to catch it sometime. Is it sandwiched between Olbermann and Maddow?

I'm not sure exactly what your point is supposed to be. MSNBC has never claimed to be a "News Network" in the traditional sense. I'm sure you can find lots of references to the word "news" and "journalism" in the descriptions of some shows there, because that is the context. But they do almost solely opinions, analysis, interviews, etc. I've never seen a traditional "newscast" on that network where somebody reads the news with the presumption that you are getting straight reporting. If you are confused about that, you aren't very bright. They don't advertise themselves as "Fair and Balanced", for instance.

Well, because you are so bright, what do they advertise themselves as?

From their own website: Msnbc.com is a leader in breaking news, video and original journalism.

What is "breaking news?" What is "journalism?"

Too bad they bill themselves as a "breaking news" and "journalism" network. Don't believe me? Google them and see what the first two lines say.

Speaking of not very bright, how bright are the bulbs above your mirror? Again, what do they tell you they are when you Google them? If they are what they say they are, they are lying to anyone that visits their site.
