Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Pinhead, is it really necessary to attack the thread as a whole? I don't mind you taking issue with certain posters... but this thread is something we all take pride in...

should I watch The Godfathero? I have it on digital video disc. I'm afraid to watch it......I'm afraid it won't live up to everything I've ever heard about it.

to me, the "roll", in a very specific sense, is the piano. You can tell rock and roll from just plain old ROCK! by the lack of the piano. I'm talkin' Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, that kind of thing, my friend. Rock and roll bands used to have the piano as a fixture. The piano embodied the 'roll' in rock and roll. In a more general sense, it's the rockabilly influence, the rhythm & blues influence, those 'black' sounds that made it what it was. Like Louis Jordan and his Tympani Five: a great 'bridge' band between the rhythm and blues and rock and roll. Louis Jordan rolls. Chuck Berry rolls. The Allman brothers most definitely do not roll. Nor do the Stones, or even The Beatles. Once they took the rockabilly, the r&b, the doo-wop out of what we today put under the umbrella of good ole time 'rock n' roll', it lost a certain rhythm, a soul, that to me is what it's all about.
Well, this evening now sucks. Booted the dog out of the bedroom so the wifey and I could have some "quality time". Went downstairs to the kitchen an hour or so later, and found that our dog shit all over the floor in the kitchen.
Clearly an act of revenge by the dog. Bastard.

It's also racist, at least in its original incarnation.
