Favorite chemical element?

I've always really enjoyed the periodic table and was wondering if you all have a favorite element and why it's your favorite?

I'd have to say mine is cesium (also spelled caesium), symbol Cs. I guess I've always been a big fan of the alkali metals, and usually stick with elements that posses electronegative properties (Cesium is the most electronegative). It's atomic number is 55, which is about average, not too high or too low, plus it's sorta cool that it appears as a cation in most of it's chemical compounds (anions are dumb, IMO). It also has a wide variety of important scientific uses, like the atomic clock, which is very accurate due to the precise frequency of oscillating cesium atoms. It's pretty cool.

I never actually saw cesium IRL, but you can find pictures of it on google. One of these days I'm going to find me a good piece of cesium but I'll have to make sure I keep it under it's low melting point so that it retains it's solid phase.

So what do you all like?

P.S. It's atomic weight is 133.

Plumbum. Because it sounds like a dessert but will kill you if you eat enough of it.

Radon.

I loved the Radon scare of the 80s and 90s. I used to go around with an empty spray bottle and just "spray" air on kids and tell them it was Radon and I just poisoned them. Guess we beat that shit, cause I never hear about it anymore.

Let's hear it for Radon.

Hydrogen.

Its atomic number is 1. And so is its mass.

I've always been partial to Molybdenum. Because I want Mo, Mo, Mo!

I like silver, too, because everyone knows an economic collapse is imminent and silver is real money!

Mercury HG

This is really faggy, but in high school, I composed a song for my chemistry class, so we could easily memorize all the elements, in order. My girlfriend and I went class to class with our guitars.. singing, “The Periodic Table of Elements.” (that's what we named our song)

We were a big hit back then.

It's not faggy since you're female after all...right Alias?

My chemistry teacher.

This was a public school but my chemistry teacher was a nun.

Yes, I am female, eesh.

You know, eesh, I'm not sure I ever properly thanked you for outing my sex to the board. But, thank you, eesh. You forced me to shift gears.

It reminded me of my childhood when my parents would instruct me to act like a lady. I can still hear it.

Dear, sit like a lady.

I don't want to sit like a lady!

But, you must.

By the way, eesh, when I was growing up in NY, we called any behavior that was nerdy or square... faggy. It didn't necessarily mean gay; it just meant total nerd. Hence, my chemistry song was totally faggy and my girlfriend and I were fagits for singing it. Of course, we knew we were being fagits... which made us cool.

So, basically, I was a cool non-gay fagit.

wut? You make homophobic comments, you make it quite clear you are deeply conservative, yet you talk about your pet cats, have much knowledge about fine china and table linens, become deeply offended when we joke around about domestic violence, start hot or not threads with pics of men.....

You either are the biggest in the closet, most self loathing homosexual I know....or you are a conservative woman. I go for the easiest explanation.

I do not! That is a ridiculous statement.

Deeply conservative? What does that mean? Do I have a contagious disease?

> yet you
> talk about your pet cats,

Yes, this is true.

I love my animal friends. I loved a little bird.

I stop to help turtles cross the road.

> have much knowledge

I have very limited knowledge about fine china.

And, I don't use table cloths. Ever!

I do like an attractively set table.

Deeply offended? That's just silly.

> start hot or not threads with pics of

If I did that, it was only after you told the whole world I was a woman. And, then, why not? I am a woman, after all.

> You either are the biggest in the closet, most

Why would I have to be self loathing if I were a homosexual?

> or you are a

Watch out! A conservative woman on the loose. Who knows what I might do. I hope the FBI is watching me.

So, I guess you don't think I'm a self loathing homosexual?
