Reliable sources report local favorite Meade Skelton and Nova-ite Mr. Mephisto got together earlier today, and it looks like they're going full speed ahead with a collaboration that has been eagerly anticipated by both fans and critics.

Afterwards, the two agreed to meet with a reporter at the Penny Lane Pub.

Meade smiled when asked if he thought the pairing was a "super group."

"A super-duper group, I'd say," he replied, laughing.

Mr. Mephisto slammed down his non-alcoholic beer and said, "We are going to rock Virginia. I guarantee you that."

Then he high-fived a somewhat startled Meade.

"But seriously, I'm really excited about the possibilities here," Mephisto said, as he fed a bit of cheese to what appeared to be a rather large mouse in his breast pocket. "In fact, meeting with Meade has already got my creative juices flowing. I've got a song half-written, and am pretty sure I can finish it... with a little help from my friend."

He turned to look at Meade. They both smiled.

"I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," Meade said, grinning.

And with that, the two got up from the table and walked out arm-in-arm into the Richmond sunset.

I know. I was kidding. But they are good--the only other good ska/reggae band from DC after the Pietasters. Some might say Checkered Cabs, but I don't think so. It's pretty dry around here for Jamaican music.

I don't know if I agree with SOJA being in that category, though. They're alright. I like 10 Ft. Ganja Plant a lot better, as far as the current roots scene goes. And Easy Star All-Stars. And isn't Dave Matthews from South Africa or something?

DMB is originally from Charlottesville and SOJA has played Europe, South America, and the Caribbean on the reg.

My car broke down on my way out to see his show. I am soo sad I cried tonight. Did anyone go? How was his performance I bet it was top notch.
