What libs like Gerry who majored in art history don't understand is that all wealth is relative. If you increase wages at the low end artificially, then all that you really do is devalue that level of earning. It then chains up so that they're just paying more for the same goods and services, people above them are paid more, those at the top make more and still are at the same relative advantage.
Worse yet, it doesn't matter what system you're in, democratic, some socialist nirvana, a native tribe trading shells. There will virtually always be those at the top and those at the bottom and the relative value of wealth will adjust accordingly so that 3 sea shells become effectively the same as $1,000,000 or whatever unit of value is used as the measure.
