Jobless Rate Reaches 9.8 Percent in September

After this ever so slight miscalculation by Congress, they now want us to trust them to:

build a health care reform plan that will not add to the deficit or increase taxes for the middle class;

embrace amnesty to as many as 20M illegal aliens, making them a part of the huge welfare family (again, without adding to the deficit or increasing taxes for the middle class;

and approve more bail outs that will never trickle down to middle class America, since the first spate of bail out recipients are being used for rentetion bonus and and salary increases.

Rather than the Great O Plan to create jobs, we are seeing unemployment continue to rise, with the uptick projected date moving further out with each percent it rises.

That damn Obama. He's STILL not up the Ronald Reagan's unemployment rate of over 10%! AND Obama's approval rating is still above 50% in most polls!!! Why, he should be in the 30s like Reagan was during his recession!!!

Obama needs to try harder to be as bad as Reagan was!

Yeah well, maybe if he gets the Olympics to come to Chicago he will pump $5B more into their economy.

WTL, don't you have something less "Vince-like" to say in response?

In all seriousness, I think Congress needs to re-focus their attention to something more important then contentious debates over health insurance reform.

"Vince-like" would be something like, "They don't have these problems in Cuba."

No. I'm just pointing out to people who want to criticize Obama that his numbers are better than "St. Ronny's" were under similar circumstances. I don't know if Obama is going to be a great, good or terrible President. But you can't judge that at this point in time. I'm sure in January of 1983, many people were writing off Reagan.

"never trickle down to middle class America..."

Either a big part of the middle class are freeloaders or the middle class is getting very small.

Obama is on track to DOUBLE the number of unemployed people in this country since Bush left office. Welcome to the change! What a team! Way to "add or save three million jobs"... now we're at 15.1 million unemployed, and while his people starve he is off in Europe trying to get the olympics to come to his korrupt city of Chikago so his minions and crime boss supporters can get MORE money.

And the Kongress tries to guarantee the ongoing profitability of health insurance companies by making them national institutions that our citizens will be jailed for not paying! WAKE UP PEOPLE! VINCE'S PEOPLE ARE DESTROYING US! AND THE DEMOKRATS ARE TOO!

Bush left office in late January when the number of unemployed were 11.6 million. You must be one of the people Obama wants to go back to school.

ConVince's post says "on track to Double," NOT "has doubled." Speaking of going back to school, you might want to look into that. I suggest a good course in vocabulary and reading comprehension.

with only .2% to match Ronnie, he's not far from matching and surpassing. Now the news reporters are saying, "this is in line with expectations." Hmmmmm that's not what Wobbly O and the great predictors said just a few months ago.

Depending on which poll your reading today, Wobbly O's honeymoon is over and the marriage is rocky at best.

With Chicago a no-go for the 2016 olympics, looks like one less potential cash infusion, but I'm sure the O's and Oprah had a fun time promoting the city - afterall it's not like there is anything pressing going on at home.

Federal government spending added 2.6% to last quarter's GDP. Without the federal stimulus and the BLS revising GDP figures for past quarters, GDP would've declined by 5.2% last quarter and unemployment would've been even more severe.

The peak quarters for Obama's stimulus spending are supposed to be the April-June and July-September quarters of this year. It contributed 2.6 percent to the GDP in the latest report for last quarter. It's supposed to contribute 3.5 to 4 percent in the current quarter that just ended. By the end of next summer, the economy is on its own. We'll soon be in a similar situation as when Bush's first rebate check program in 2001.

On track to double by when? At the current rate, it may take 3 or 4 years. It may not even happen if we keep adding more stimulus after the current one runs out or if we have more wars. On the other hand, it may happen sooner if external market forces require the government to rein in spending. It looks premature to make a call. It's a certainty that another massive stimulus program will be enacted before the 2012 election.
