I will probably have to take my kids to it, but I was one of the few as a kid who hated this book.

I never read it growing up and my kids, who read quite a bit, never have either. It is a bit like Goodnight Moon, the Cat in the Hat, and few other children's books - it is thrust upon all new parents as a 'staple,' must have work of children's literature. I am sure it is good in its own right but it seems to be highly overrated.

Goodnight Moon is brilliant. There is something subversively macabre about saying, "Goodnight Stars. Goodnight Air. Goodnight Noises Everywhere."
