David Trinnes is not admitted to the Virginia Eastern Bankruptcy Court. He is admitted to the Eastern District, but the bankruptcy court has its own admissions requirements on top of being admitted to the Eastern District.

Reading David's now-removed bio from Charlson Bredehoft Cohen & Brown https://www.cbc-law.com website makes it sound as if the verdict was some sort of accomplishment. It begs the question whether David bothered to inform his new employer that his record-setting win was obtained in the absence of opposing counsel. In actual fact David was facing a defendant with only a high-school diploma representing himself pro se. On those terms, even an alcoholic from a fourth-tier law school could win a very shaky case.
David was treading on rather thin ethical ice throughout the relationship with the Morenos. Particularly with the mishandling of the "key evidence" in the trial, on which the verdict hinged. Furthermore David Trinnes represented Lizzie in exchange for her providing testimony. Then he sent her a bill which he knew she was under no obligation to pay. He actually billed her more than once, even after she objected. Certainly David also knew or had reason to suspect that many of the claims in the lawsuit were false.

However many law firms do care and take great pains to maintain high standards of professional ethics. Elaine Charlson Bredehoft falls in the latter category.

Apparently, somewhere in there Phil got interested in Real Estate Development as an investment. Bought into some luxury apartment deal that eventually went to shit.
I suspect that they raised the capital to get in on this great opportunity by simply not paying any bills for a year or two, so they could invest that money instead; presumably, after they made a few million on the apartment deal they would be able to pay back all the creditors.

He's angry that no money is coming from eesh. The only person who benefitted from the lawsuit was David, who got a prestigious line item to add to his resume. He made the mistake of telling miz that's all he ever really gave a fuck about. Miz flipped out and stabbed him, and then buried him in his backyard.
