Everyone else and there mother calls them ISIS. Even the Pope, Castro, Putin, and Ron Burgundy call them ISIS

The US military has continued with that acronym. It's a purposeful misnomer. Much like many of the Arab regimes or EU countries calling them Deash.

Why? Because if Obama called them ISIS, he'd be admitting defeat for Syria since it's part of the ISIS acronym. If he keeps calling them ISIL, he'll be doing as instructed by his Islamic Brotherhood advisers.

By using ISIL which is the Levant, Obama is raising the issue of Israel's legitimacy and is meant to be a pointed insult.
