Gallup: 58% support legalizing marijuana
Posted by: CollegeBoy ()

What is this country coming too?

First weed and then we'll be legalizing all drugs and before you know it, jails will be eliminated in favor of time out.

Way to go bleeding hearts and stupid 20 something Libertarians, you've successfully turned this country into a haven for drug addicts.

So, people whose only crime is using drugs should all be thrown in jail?

Thanks for your viewpoint, Mr. Stalin.

No one has ever died from using marijuana. You never hear about a man smoking a joint then going home and beating his wife. If anything it makes people less violent. It's very different from heroin, cocaine, meth, all these drugs cause physical addiction. Smoking/ingesting marijuana is a victimless crime and 58% of the population know it.

There have been plenty of people killed in ganja related car crashes.

You ever tried driving high? It's not easy!

But that's because no one should be driving under the affects of any drug. But people can still drink, right? Alcohol is legal in this country. There have been far more incidents of drunk driving accidents then ganja related accidents. It's a crime to drive under the influence of any drug. If that's your argument Stabitha, then alcohol should be illegal too. No one has ever died from being high off marijuana.

My point is why add to the carnage?

And I think the drunk driving laws are way too lenient in this country. I just read a story about a illegal alien drunk driver who crashed into a car and killed one and seriously injured another. He fled the scene and was on the run for 16 days before he got nabbed. He was sentenced to 20 years but the Judge suspended 10 years, so he only got 10 and will be out in 7. This was in VA.

Certain drugs are illegal and if you use them, you are breaking the law and deserve to get jailed. I know this is hard for you to understand.

Maybe if you put the pipe down, you'd be less stupid and more logical.

You don't criminalize something simply because you don't like it. You criminalize something in order to make society better. In the years we have been waging war on the drug trade we have been packing prisons, bending constitutional protections to the breaking point and paying huge amounts in additional taxes, all for the luxury of holding drug use at somewhere between a tenth and a fifth of the population. Yes we are so much better off for having criminalized it.

The lesson from the drug war is the same as the lesson from prohibition. Merely criminalizing will not necessarily prevent a substantial portion of the population from doing it. If you take a look at who is doing it, many of these people are OTHERWISE law abiding productive members of society whose only crime is buying and using the stuff. Others who are doing it do engage in a variety of crimes related to the manufacture and sale of drugs, but presumably these would either drop off or become legal if the drug trade was legalized.

If you look at most polls, you will find substantial support for legalizing marijuana and related products which also constitute the vast majority of existing illegal drug activity and which also pose the least serious risks from use. You don't see the same level of support for legalizing heroin, LSD, meth and a number of other drugs.

I understand where you're coming from. Too many stupid drivers in this area already. But if marijuana is going to be illegal because of high drivers, them alcohol should illegal because of drunk drivers. It is much easier to drive high off marijuana then it is to drive drunk. I'm not saying anybody should. It's stupid and by driving while inhibited you are putting your life and other lives at risk. However, alcohol affects you physically. Marijuana affects you mentally. With my experience, I've noticed that people who are too high to drive will say "oh fuck, i don't think I can do this." But people who are drunk are like "GIMME MY KEYS WHATDOYOUMEAN I CANT DRIVE???!!" From what I've learned being a psychology major, alcohol is far more damaging to your body and mind. Far less dangerous than marijuana. I personally think using marijuana should be completely legal for medical uses. I also think it should be legal for recreational use in a persons home. People are still going to smoke weed whether it's legal or not, the jails are already over-crowded, prohibition didn't work and neither will this.

Love CollegeBoy's circular logic...

Marijuana shouldn't be legalized because it's bad... It's bad because it's against the law... Therefore marijuana shouldn't be legalized.

If you disagree, you're a hippy drug addict Libertarian idiot.

Absolutely 100 percent incorrect. Countless numbers of people have died from it over selling territories and gang wars involved with it. Not to mention they dont test for it since it doesnt come up in your BAC during crashes.

Youre correct its not as bad as hard drugs though it does often lead to those, but saying no one has ever died from it couldnt be further from the truth.

I said no one has ever died from being high off marijuana. And if it were legal then wouldn't there be no reason for people to buy it from the scary gangs? So the gangs lose their business. People would go straight to the local dispensary for their fresh, chemical-free, organic marijuana. Legally.

How can they prove that he didn't smoke it in Colorado or Washington? Perfectly legal out there. And as far as I can tell, society has not collapsed.

We are going to have to relook our drugs laws soon.

It doesnt matter if you did it there or not youve still failed your drug test. Its actually not legal out there either. Its still illegal by federal law which overrides state laws in todays society. The Feds just arent actively enforcing it, however if your employer wants to hold you to it your done.

Its just like how you cant go over seas and use drugs and come back and fail drug tests and say but it was legal there, you arent there anymore.

I'm not defensive at all and I know what you're trying to do.

Alcohol is a dangerous drug, when taken. We've seen its effects so there is no debate needed. I wouldn't ban it, so long as there will always be tough penalties for selling to a minor and in cases of drunk driving.

Now call me a hypocrite.

You are being defensive! I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if I don't agree with you. We will have to agree to disagree. I have known many alcoholics and I believe it is more destructive.

Alcoholics tend to have a violent streak, but marijuana users don't. Not from my experience, anyways.

A truly stupid analogy.

If you accept our neo-temperance friend's argument that pot is a dangerous drug, that would mean that it poses dangers even when used responsibly. The same is not true of firearms. when used responsibly they pose little danger even when the user is a youth. There are a great many firearms programs for in this country where youths are permitted to handle and shoot weapons, including shotguns in a supervised environment. Even certain facilities in this area will permit those under 18 to shoot there if accompanied by a responsible adult.

Obama is an idiot for not following Federal Law and all of you tards who bash him on here are appluading him for it?

Bunch of fucking hypocrites. Just so we are clear, weed will NEVER be legalized on the Federal level. It's going to be left to the states. Sorry potheads, you'll have to move to get high. Not everybody wants to be exposed to that noxious stench you find "pleasurable".

The actual profits fr om legalization is overblown and when factoring in the cost of regulation the net profit is minimal and wouldn't generate enough revenue to put a dent in the deficit. So lets be real here; the only reason people want it legalized is so they can get high and thats it. The overall negatives off set the positives and any revenue generated is grossly exaggerated.

The same people who don't want universal health care don't want pot legalized. It's big pharma and the health insurance company.

They tend to use conservatives to push their message because they are ill informed and so easily led around by the nose.

See, they give pot prescription s for ANYTHING.

A drug addict can go to the doctor to get his fix. But its cool because weed is totally safe and if we legalize it all drug related crime will become non existent.

Gotta love that utopian BS the Bleeading Hearts and Libertarians get a hard on over.

BTW, Harry, you're a smart person, so even you have to acknowledge that weed has negative side effects.

Just because you can't handle it, don't damn it for people who can handle it...and can handle it in small amounts for some people, and large amounts for others.

And I'm speaking about people who can have a few or a lot, get up and go to work the next day and live a good life, and don't drink and drive.

Yes, you frickin nit wits, there are indeed people like that out there, so, just because you can't handle it in either small or large doses, don't think that every American suffers from your weakness of will or liver.

Same for weed. I don't like it, but I know a few that seem to, and are good, productive citizens.

There is always going to be a bottom rung of society...alcohol and drugs don't stratify society.

Good, productive and otherwise law abiding and peaceful people can be drunks and use drugs, and absolute losers can be tee-totalers.

Another losing issue for conservatives and republicans.

We should require republicans/conservatives to only inbreed so they would eventually create a mongoloid race we could justify enslaving. Line breed the idiots!

I see the pothead is back to cheerleading. Go get high and rant about how aliens exist and Romney is a lizard man. I bet you wasted your vote on that fucktard Gary Johnson just cuz he said he'd legalize it.

But if it weren't for pot, they'd be good, outstanding, and productive?

Nothing else holds them back?

WOW. Then of course...No More POT!

That way, EVERYONE would be outstanding.

Pot is THE EVIL of society!!!!

How stupid.

There will be losers and winners in the world, regardless of the availability/legality of pot or other intoxicants.

How'd prohibition work out for the U.S.?

It seemed to predate and then coincide with the depression, for one thing.

No winners and losers then, huh?

Supporting legalizing pot may be the only salvation for the Republican Party:

58% approval,
it's a states rights thing,
way to entice younger voters,
free enterprise,
Shrink government, ie less money for the DEA and other enforcement agencies,
Jesus smoked a ton of pot
Etc

Pot is a cash cow for drug lords.

But let's talk about banning cats for a second:

Cats kill billions of birds every year and even more tiny rodents and other mammals in the United States, a new study finds.
According to the research, published today (Jan. 29) in the journal Nature Communications, cats kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 billion and 20.7 billion small mammals, such as meadow voles and chipmunks.

Seems way more damaging to society than the occasional puff.

I realize most cats kill small mammals, but that's just the food chain. The circle of life. I promise if I gave you a tiny tiny kitten to love and it loved you that you would take care of it. You would love the little kitty. I rest my case. Cats kill because it's the circle of life.

You may be responsible catlover. But, the numbers clearly state that the majority of cat owners can't handle the responsibility. Therefore, I'm sure CollegeBoy would have to support legislation against your kind.

Marijuana rarely effects anyone who doesn't use it. You can't say the same for cats.

Cats are good for the human soul. Every living being on this planet has a purpose. I think it is too extreme for you to say all cats should be euthanized. I know that if I met you in person and gave you a little kitten that you would hold it close and love it. Unless you are a serial killer. No matter if you dislike cats I bet you have a kind heart and would love the little kitty.

Circle of life? How. I think you meant might makes right.

There is no place in this world for an apex predator who's nutrition needs are completely met by humans and their predatory needs are completely gratuitous.

Okay, we don't need to euthanize, but we do need to require cats a unable to breed AND declawed. If you consider declawing inhumane the an cut off their feet.

CollegeBoy is really a good boy, his problem is his desire to be accepted by whites.

He feels he must have an opinion on everything, even though he has no actually knowledge of anything.

Well, except what he's learning from that matchbook "college" he is supposed to be going to.

I'm willing to give him a pass. He is well behaved, even if he is a sellout.

Come on dude, get a better line of attack if you want to troll me. You're the, type of white trash that believes all blacks should aCT the same way.

IDGAF if white folk like me or not.
