Why don't you show the actual homicide rates versus just using firearms?
Russia has highly regulated and limited private gun ownership, yet the murder rate is more than 3X ours.
- Estimated total number of guns held by civilians in Russia is 12,750,000
- Rate of private gun ownership in Russia is 8.92 firearms per 100 people
- Murder rate is about 15 per 100K.
We have more than 20X the number of guns and ownership is 10X, with numbers increasing substantially every year, yet our murder rate is lower and has continued to fall.
- Estimated total number of guns held by civilians in the US is 270,000,000
- Rate of private gun ownership in the US is 88.82 firearms per 100 people
- Murder rate is about 5 per 100K.
Germany also has 2X more guns than Russia and 4X the ownership rate, yet their murder rate is less than 1 per 100K.
- Estimated total number of guns held by civilians in Germany is 25,000,000
- Rate of private gun ownership in Germany is 30.32 firearms per 100 people
- Murder rate is about .08 per 100K.
Hmmm... The murder rate doesn't really seem to correlate with the number of guns. And it appears that people still kill each other, even at much higher rates, without guns. At the same other people can have relatively large numbers of guns and not kill each other. Strange. Almost makes you think that maybe, just maybe, it has more to do with the society itself. Go figure...
