It's been a long while since I've brewed my own. Where do you get your supplies?

I sold my brewing gear on craigslist last year. I screwed up a whole batch and stopped brewing for awhile, then decided it's too much effort. Can be a fun hobby though (until you fuck up a whole batch). Are you using extract or are you doing all-grain?

all grain. first time actually cooking stuff. i've done it before where it was just a syrup from a can and add water. but this was fun. the only thing that turned me off of it the first time was cleaning. that gets a bit tedious.

fairly decent. pretty easy to do if you purchase a kit.

Weird, was that some kind of kit? I've always used the malt extract (syrup), but it required a long boil session with hops & adjunct grains added at certain intervals.

I was also gonna ask about the 2 week thing, that seems very fast. I usually had the stuff ferment for about a week in a primary vessel, then transferred to a secondary where it would ferment maybe another week to 10 days. Then did a bottle fermentation with corn sugar for another 3 or 4 weeks. A month was about the very fastest I could brew. Are you doing something special?

it is a kit. and i guess it wasnt all grain... i did the long boil with grains added. i dont think i am doing anything special, 72 hour fermentation in the main vessel, 3 day settling period after fermentation has stopped. then bottle with priming sugar and it sits for a week in the bottle. after that it would be ready to drink but you can age it for X amount of time.

I always took a taste. It's sweet and kinda tastes like malted milk balls and bread, before the hops are added. Then it sorta tastes grassy or like pine needles.
