off 7100 near Fair Oaks hospital, big pink dirty-looking swirly cloud with all kinds of leaves and small debris flying off it. Wish I'd had a camera.

And there was no warning message on the FCPS website. Just checked the email account for FCPS on messages. Nothing from Keep In Touch.

Now this is the school district taking away the blackberries given out for first responders at schools while people like Carol Horn in the GT dept or the math guy or Farling get to keep them???? I guess those people and Tisdadt are all hunkered down for big work sessions in Gatehouse.

FCPS posted something just now but not earlier.

Is there a single fucking issue on the planet that you people don't attribute in some way to the school board????

You people are fucking nuts.

Guess what, I hate the school board, too, that's why I don't send my kids to public school. You all have the same option. Private school, homeschool, whatever ... if you care about your kids so much why do you entrust them to the mismanaged, evil, money-wasting FCPS? Bitching about it is such a waste of time. While you spend all day bitching and moaning and organizing protests, your kids are getting a horrible education and having their safety put at risk (according to YOUR OWN WORDS). Stop being a cheap bastard and pony up for a better education.

That's all I have to say about that.

NBC4 reporting a woman was killed when a tree was blown onto her car and crushed it ... my husband called from Vienna and said there was a lot of damage there and roads closed. Orange line is disrupted at EFC Station. This was a pretty big storm.

Well, the forum was created in conjunction with the online Arrest & Ticket Search, a central feature of this site. And the owner has written some help files on maneuvering the traffic court system. So I doubt the cop posts will cease. It's sorta one of the original points.

Orange line is all fucked up. Probably about 3,000 people surrounding East Falls Church station waiting for shuttles. I finally said fuck it and took the train back into Arlington. Anybody wanna pick me up in Ballston and give me a ride back to Tysons? $20 bucks in it for ya ;))

Go drive from one end of Poplar Tree Rd in Chantilly to the other. Total destruction. Yet barely a mile away in Brookfield or Sequoia Farms there was very minimal or no damage.

Crazy.

Hope you're all ready for round 2 in an hour.

On my way home from work, which took 3 times longer than usual, I decided that I would stop at Mt. Vernon and do my daily run on the bike trail heading north from Mt. Vernon. Traffic sucked everywhere, on 7100 and on the GW Parkway.

When I pull into the Mt. Vernon parking lot there were a bunch of people in 1700's costumes standing there gaping at a SUV or minivan that had been completely pancaked by a big-ass tree.

I drove to the end of the parking lot near the beginning of the trail and got our to start my run. I heard chainsaws down on the Parkway beneath me, and when I looked I saw the road was blocked by a huge tree that had fallen from the southbound side onto the road and had crushed the front of some dude's pickup truck cab, caving in the windshield. The driver was standing off to the side in a trench coat, he was a 50-ish looking guy with a briefcase, lawyer or executive-type.

The trail was covered with fallen trees. My run turned into an obstacle course. The Parkway was all jammed up and a front-end loader was driving around pushing trees off to the side and helping the guys with the chainsaws move the poor guy's truck out of the way.

The amazing thing was that after they dragged the tree of his truck, one of the clearing crew actually got it to start and was able to move it off into the parking lot and clear the road.

Most schools lost power and went into tornado warning mode. Transformers near schools are known to have exploded at Centrevile, Chantilly, Falls Church, Fairfax, Langley, and West Pot. It is likely that some schools will not have power in the morning, these schools will not have their 2 days less which is sure to enrage a few parents.

Trees are down in most places and access to some schools may be difficult. Wires down are also frequent and traffic lights are out everywhere. Also, your trees are probably down, please take them out of the road. VDOT will be working to remove trees but expect it to take a while.

Shit was fuked up over by me in Falls Church. I live across from the mosque over there and Rt.7 was closed from the Sears building down to where all those asian restaurants are. People couldn't go up or down the street and I was forced to park at Jeb Stuart high school. People were getting in fights with one another cuz they were getting frustrated and cops were running up and down the street trying to keep the peace. Transformers were blowing up and shit was laying all over the road. Total carnage, it was pretty awesome.

The power went out at my place around 3pm yesterday and finally came back on around 6am this morning. I went out to dinner last night since I didn't have power. Looked like very spotty outages.

I have Comcast digital voice for my phone and for about three hours after the power went out my phone was still working, then it went out. I guess the cable line went out.

WTOP FM did a good job of keeping me updated on my battery radio. Amazing how quiet it is without power.

Also nice to see that when they broadcast the emergency message the channel to turn to ACTUALLY worked and provided information.

I agree that in an emergency like a chemical gas cloud in the county we would lose a lot of lifes quickly because our emergency alert system needs work.

In a real emergency we are all F'd, period. The slightest conditions cause major traffic problems around here, if people were scared and trying to evacuate forget it. Your only hope is that whatever you need to make it through is in your house to begin with, and I'm too lazy for that nonsense.

Green sky = large amounts of hail in the clouds = possible tornado on it's way

I got caught in a tornadic storm 12 years ago, and saw exactly what you saw- a green sky. A mile down the road after the storm quieted down, I saw a huge swath cut thru the forest where the tornado had traveled.
