Neighbors in Hybla Valley were stunned as detectives combed through a Buick leSabre. Authorities say a 21-year-old woman was behind the wheel for unknown reasons she got out her car in the middle of Harrison Lane in what was a downpour around 11:30 a.m.

Police explain there was some sort of argument with a man driving in a black Chevrolet SUV with temporary tags. Police could only say at some point the woman was injured, was rushed to the hospital and died.

The black SUV took off. Police aren't sure how the woman was killed.

Police Investigate Death in Mount Vernon Area

Mount Vernon Police District – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 21-year-old Fairfax County woman who was found unconscious on Harrison Lane. Police responded to a report of a woman lying in the roadway on Friday, May 4 around 11:30 a.m.

Preliminarily, the investigation shows that the woman had been driving, stopped and exited her vehicle and had a discussion with another driver in traffic. There appeared to be some sort of altercation between the drivers. Police are not clear on whether the two knew each other or what the nature of the disagreement may have been. They are also investigating the precise nature of the victim’s injuries and what may have caused them. Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of the other vehicle. It was described as a black Chevrolet SUV with temporary tags

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, however preliminarily, it appears the victim suffered from a traumatic injury to the upper body.

WASHINGTON - A local woman is dead after arguing with another driver in traffic Friday morning. Officials are asking for help in figuring out exactly what happened.

Witnesses tell police they saw the woman exit her car and get into a heated discussion with the driver of an SUV shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Harrison Lane in the Mount Vernon area.

"We don't know if the two knew each other, we don't know what they were exchanging words or got into an altercation about," says Mary Ann Jennings with Fairfax County Police. "We don't know that it's road rage, but we're certainly not ruling it out."

When officers arrived, they found the victim, 21, lying in the road unconscious.

The Fairfax County woman was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Her name has not yet been released.

Jennings says the woman had traumatic injuries to her upper body, but it will be up to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause and manner of her death.

"We simply don't know yet whether she was hit by a car, whether she fell, or just exactly she came to be on the pavement unconscious, " Jennings says.

Police are looking for the driver of the other car, described as a black Cheverolet SUV with temporary tags.

A women is dead after falling victim to violent road rage, police believe.
21-year-old Shelinda Dolores Arrington, from Fairfax, Virginia, got into an argument with the driver of a black Chevrolet SUV on Harrison Lane in Hybla Valley.

She pulled up just after 11.30am on Friday morning and stepped out of her car to confront the driver, police said.

As she did so she was struck by another car. It is not yet known whether it was the same car whose driver she was arguing with.

'We don't know if the two knew each other, we don't know what they were exchanging words or got into an altercation about,' Mary Ann Jennings of Fairfax County Police told WTOP.

'We don't know that it's road rage, but we're certainly not ruling it out.'
The black SUV shot off, fleeing the scene and investigators are now searching for the car, described as having temporary tags.

She sustained traumatic injuries to her upper body and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The cause of death was determined to be a crush injury.

Another SUV pulled up at the scene to help Ms Arrington and police have interviewed its driver but that is all they have to go on so far.

Do you think they followed her from her home down the street? How long do you think has she been it this area?

A shame a pretty young lady in the prime of her life, is taken out like this. Obviously, there's still a lot of speculation, whether this person knew her or not. Yet what is known is she lost her life. She should not have gotten out of her car, no doubt about it, but the sociopath that drove over her she be locked the fuck up. What an ass. And on that note, I hope his whistles when finally brought to justice, and spending time in the penal system.

Fairfax County authorities are pursuing several leads to track down a dark, SUV involved in what's believed to be a road rage incident that left a 21-year-old woman dead.

On Monday, a witness to the Friday tragedy on Harrison Lane in the Hybla Valley section of Fairfax County says he saw the victim, Shelinda Arrington, pull her Buick LeSabre into traffic in front of a dark SUV with temporary tags.

Fairfax County Police officers run radar along Harrison Lane as traffic streams past the spot where Arrington lost her life. Nearby, a man who wants to protect his identity has a startling description of what's believed to be a road rage tragedy.

"I see her fly in the air, she hit the ground. The car went around her and kept going," he says.

He says Arrington, driving the Buick LeSabre, pulled into traffic on Harrison in front of a dark SUV with temporary tags and a Lexus.

"The girl driving the Buick, she had actually cut them off," he says.

Arrington reportedly jumped on the hood of the SUV, and was thrown off and run over her, adding that the driver of the Lexus called 911. He could not see the driver of the SUV but sources indicate it's a woman.

Arrington lived just a half a mile from the spot where she was killed. Her friends, Lisa Leigh and Cherita Newman, say the driver of the SUV needs to be found and brought to justice.

"I think it was very mean and cruel for somebody to do that" Leigh said.

Newman added: "It's scary to think someone is capable of doing such a thing and not turn themselves in.”

WASHINGTON - The autopsy of a woman found last Friday on a Fairfax County roadway confirms she died from being run over.

Fairfax County police say they're still investigating why Shelinda Arrington, 21, got out of her car and had some sort of altercation with the driver of a dark-colored SUV with temporary license plates.

Police believe that's the vehicle that hit her, but they don't know if the incident was road rage or if Arrington knew the driver before this fight.

Witnesses told police this weekend they saw Arrington exit her car and get into a heated discussion with the driver shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Harrison Lane in the Mount Vernon area.

Police say the autopsy shows Arrington did die from being hit by a car, not from the altercation with the driver.

Nice looking people like the victim should never get in an argument with someone ugly,such as the alleged murderer. Especially standing in front of their car.

The time to practice self control is when you're driving around here. Anyone with any significant commute encounters situations daily that could result in a confrontation.

When you think about it, these encounters are unwinnable.

If you get out of your car and beat the shit out of someone, you have a few dozen witnesses all with cell phones. Here comes criminal charges and civil lawsuits.

Of course, the person you attack could be carrying a gun legally and have perfect grounds for blowing you to kingdom come.

When someone speeds up so you can't merge, drives slow in the passing lane, texts and talks on the phone to distraction, doesn't use their turn signals, or any of the scores of different forms of driving rudeness, it's obviously best to let it go. There is nothing to gain except a lot of aggrevation , or a beating, or often death.

i can see how this happened. I've seen this situation before. and i bet the driver slammed the gas because she was in her "metal box" and in control, when she did she probably either had the wheel turned just enough so that the rear driver's wheel went over the "Rager" or the "Rager" tried to grab the window sill or tried to keep up or "stop" her from getting away and fell down in the path of the rear tire.

either way, what they both did was stupid and what happened is why it is stupid. mixing people are cars is bad enough. but throw in anger and stupidity, and this is what happens.

Don't have to prove it. Read the law. If I FEEL threatened then it's a crime by your in-person verbal threats. Just like if I FEEL like my life is in life-threatening danger I can kill. Suspect Vehicle Seized/Driver Arrested


Detectives have identified, located and seized the suspect vehicle believed to be involved in what has been determined to be a case of road rage. The driver of that vehicle Gloria Alfreda McMillan, 32, of 7238 John Paul Drive in Alexandria, has been arrested and charged with felony hit and run. The suspect vehicle is a black, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer and was located in southwest Washington, D.C.

Detectives would like to thank the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., as well as the public, for their tremendous assistance in this investigation.

UPDATE



The victim in yesterday’s incident has been identified as Shelinda Delores Arrington, 21, of the 3300 block of Lockheed Boulevard. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled that the cause of Arrington’s death was a crush injury. The manner of death was determined to be that the victim was run over by a motor vehicle.

Detectives would like the public to be on the lookout for a dark colored SUV with unknown, temporary tags. The vehicle may or may not be a Chevrolet. Police want to expand the list of potential suspect vehicles rather than limiting them to a particular make and model.

When the SUV and its driver are identified, detectives may then learn what, if any relationship existed between the victim and the driver prior to this incident.

I am saddened by some of the comments. She didn't deserve to die, especially like this. I don't care what happened .
