how much do you tip the pizza delivery person? ($5, $10, or more?)

how much do you tip the pizza delivery person?

my usual order of pizzas from Dominos is about $20.

the distance from Dominos store to my house is 6.5 miles each way.
(traffic can be bad in the evenings.... anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes,
again, each way)

I usually give the deliver person $5.... is this enough, too much, or
not enough?

Just wondering....

Usually 20-25%, unless well beyond the 30 minute wait (and cold pizza). -§

It depends how drunk I am, on a drunk night I may tip 50%, when I'm sober 20%.

You know how much $$$ I would save if I was sober???

I pick my pizzas up when I order because:

1. I wait for nobody.
2. I do not need to tip.
3. The pizza is less $$ because there is no extra deliver charge, etc.

I usually go $1 an item but no less than $4 regardless of order size. I heard the delivery fees don't go to the drivers, was that bs? i used to deduct that from what i would have tipped them but stopped that practice when i heard they dont get that

Same here. Maybe another buck if the pizza is quick and hot.

A fair warning to all those who are bad tippers, pizza drivers ALWAYS remember who tips bad or not at all. So except to get bad service and maybe even some saliva or other bodily fluids as an extra topping on your pizza ;) I know from experience ;)

yeah I have to agree, I was only a pizza guy briefly, but I still had a group of regular customers in that time, and I was always immediately able to recall a bad or non tipper at a house as soon as I pulled up to it the second time.

They charge a 1.50 for delivery, no more than a 2 dollar tip from me. Whether it goes to the driver or not, not my problem, but the chains to give the drivers some money for gas, plus their 8-10 dollars an hour.

I usually just go and pick up from Tony's though.

I have seen on here several times where people have said that if you don't tip well, you will get bodily fluids on, or in, your food. This is just gross, and it is against the law. You better believe that if I ever thought that there was anything done to my food, I would call the police. I understand that you can't tell most of the time, but I don't think it would be worth the risk. I used to wait tables and I never would have even thought of putting anything into someone's food. What if it hurts them? Or they have a reaction of some sort? Not worth it to me for the lousy $ that I think I deserve. It's a form of assault.
Maybe that's why I hardly ever eat out anymore.

Yeah, I waited tables when I was in college, and never heard of anyone there messing with the food. And this was in a college town, where we were always getting lousy tips from poor college kids. Not once did I ever see or hear of disgruntled waitstaff putting stuff into someone's food. If we saw one of the poor tippers get seated, it was just as easy and more effective to give them bad service (no refills, slow to take the order)- and even that was pretty rare to do. Sometimes I would pick up extra shifts working in the food prep line, and I never heard about or saw food-tampering back there either.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, because I'm sure there are alot of disgusting people out there that would do it, but it's not a "gimme" like alot of people think.

That being said, it's still never a good idea to act like an ass to the people who are serving your food.

What is wrong with you fucking people? If I ever find spit in my pizza,I will fucking come after your ass. What the fuck is this? Yes, I understand tipping $1 or $2 at MOST is fine, but it's not like they did anything fucking great. Sometimes when I do that, they get a pissed off look on their face. WELL FUCK YOU BUDDY, maybe if you didn't drop out from school, you wouldn't be stuck in food service LOL. Maybe we should tip our doctors, and lawyers aswell???? Dumbass pizza drivers, I already paid for the pizza, I'm not gonna give you extra money, as a congradulations for you driving 2.3 miles to my house. That's why I pick up from now on, I don't trust em.

Yeah exactly. Especially because it's a 2 block drive from the pizza place (less than 3 minutes round trip).

I usually pick up..

I agree, DO NOT fuck or be cheap with people who handle your food. Thats why I just do not go out or have food delivered unless I know I can tip well, and I am super nice to the server if its a resturant. Too many cheap bastards who are broke order but refuse to just pick up the damn food themselves.

I think 5 dollars is enough, but if you order during a snow storm that would be about 10.

After reading some of these comments, I may never order another pizza.
I think around $5.00 is good.
