I had to test this first-hand...
During my lunch break, this afternoon, I went to Amphoras Diner (off Elden, in Herdon). As many of you know, within this area, lurk many illegal aliens, looking for a day's work from landscapers, people moving heavy furniture, contractors, et al.
I drive a new Toyota Tundra with an extended bed and crew cab. I pulled up to a local "hot spot" and put my truck in park.
"I need TEN painters" -- and motioned with my hand a paint brush moving back and forth. I was bombarded my Hispanics. I put the car in drive and crept along as they hopped in the back. When I counted ten, in the bed of the truck, I accelerated, leaving many behind, still running.
I opened the rear window -- "Gracias, Gracias -- we're going to paint".
Little did they know I was taking them STRAIGHT to the county. I had a suspicion that at least 9 of these fellows were illegal residents within the United States that did not possess the appropriate paperwork or work visas.
Approaching the county office, I could see a bit of confusion and surprise in the back of the truck -- some of them knew where we were headed. A couple bailed out of the back of my moving pickup. I must have been going about 40MPH. They rolled onto the concrete, and into the grass. I could not see much more than that while still trying to keep my eyes on the road.
I finally arrived.
There were only 4 left in the back of the truck. I opened my door and ran to the rear of the vehicle. They now knew what was going on. They tried to flee. I grabbed two of them by the collars of their shirts and wrestled them viciously to the ground. I am not a large man, but possess the heart of a lion and strength of one thousand men when it comes to protecting my country -- which I will do, with no fear, and no regret.
By this time I had attracted the attention of a sheriff's deputy who came rushing to the scene.
"What is going on here?" he said
"just making a little drop-off here, sir" I said. Visibly shaken and very short on breath. I sat on the ground, still holding these two, as they squirmed, and cursed in broken English.
The three of us were escorted into the facility. I was led to a separate room. And yes, as you can imagine, given a stern "talking to". But the fate of these other two illegal immigrants I can only imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if they are already on their way back to El Salvador...
I was released after making promises to several county officials. I told them I would not repeat the actions of today. And I probably will not.
So, it appears there is still somewhat of a "gray area" concerning this issue...
