Can South County win the region? They are really on a roll 7 in a row....they should crush Madison in the 1st round and then they would have Stone Bridge

There is no way South County could beat the "Westville Centrefield" powerhouses. No way in hell.

SoCo is in Division 5, Westfield and Centreville are in Division 6.

Stone Bridge is way down this yera so SoCo would have a great chance at beating them They would have to be more physical and out play the SB Dline if they can do that they can win if not SB will win

TC and West Po are littered with D1 talent, as much as Dematha, but grades and and the ghetto life keep these kids from going places. Those teams never do anything but barely make the playoffs. Football is a team sport and the teams that can tackle and block the best win. You don't need D1 players to do that. Westfield the best team in Va. beat the bricks off Dematha this year in a scrimmage. PG county schools have plenty of great players too, but goof ball coaches and short cut artests keep those guys from winning it all. You need your roll players, 1 ball 22 kids.

i have a feeling Soco will make some serious noise.

we beat them, but they smacked a few kids around, and they are playing d5.

Their defense is one of the nastiest D's ive seen in a while. 33 turnovers in 10 games and only gave 12.3 ppg.

they won 7 in a row and i have them rolling over madison, maybe beating stonebridge..? any takers?

South County will be great in their region. Anything after that I'm unsure. They're lucky they dropped in division, though. That might be a factor in how they're so good this year.

On the other hand, excited for the Battle of the Concorde pt. 2 this month. Especially that Westfield/Centreville game that will undoubtedly happen again in a few weeks!

I wouldn't count McLean out against Yorktown. While Yorktown has had a terrific season, their schedule (which the kids don't control I realize) is extremely weak, while McLean has played Stone Bridge and Centreville. Plus Madison and Fairfax are better than any other team in the sorry National District as well other than Yorktown.

McLean is finally healthy and playing their best football of the season. McLean thoroughly dominated Langley. If they can show up defensively again, they have a chance. I think their offense will stay on the field and seek to work the clock as well.

Again, NOT saying McLean is going to win. Just saying they will give Yorktown a game and I know for a fact that Coach Hanson is scared out of his mind.

I also heard that Yorktown will be missing 2-3 starters who will be suspended for this game. This game could have intrigue.

Moving to D5 had nothing to with how Good SOCO is-- SOCO still plaid 8 D6 teams and both D5 schools on their schedule are in the D5 playoffs. Hayfield and lee.

Moving to D5 should make a difference this year in who is in front of them in the playoffs though as Westfield and Cville are dominant in D6 this year.

These playoffs are a joke. Too many teams are selected. The VHSL needs to eliminate at least one or two rounds and limit the inclusion to four teams in each Div. Region. Robinson at 4-6 -- should not be in anybody's playoffs -- except Pop Warner. A 4-6 record does not deserve playoff selection, I don't care whatever about your strenght of schedule, opponents records, or any of that BS.

You play to WIN the game. Six losses, stay home.

If by "played" you mean "got the shit kicked out of by" then yes, you played Stone Bridge and Centreville.

Does that best football of the season include squeezing out a 34-31 OT victory over a 3-7 Jefferson team?

You know this for a fact? I assume that means you talked to the man and would be willing to share his direct quote with us?

This game could certainly be entertaining, but McLean just doesn't have enough on offense to control the clock in this game. Yorktown has a ton of speed on the defensive side of the ball - enough that I don't see Eckrod or McColgan being able to turn the corner over the course of the game. Couple that with the fact that no one on McLean appears to have the ability to throw a football I don't see them putting a bunch of points on the board.

Its all about who you play and who you beat. Each team is awarded point when a team they beat wins a game. Seeding is based on the number of points a team gets.

Here is the Northern Region first round score line. I like all the home seeds in division 6, I do feel Chantilly is stronger than West Potomac, but the way they are playing leaves every indication that they will roll over. In division 5, there are a two great games.
Division 6 Playoffs
(8) Robinson @ (1) Westfield (-27.0)

(5) Chantilly @ (4) West Potomac (-3.5)

(6) Lake Braddock @ (3) Oakton (-10.0)

(7) Farifax @ (2) Centreville (-38.0)

Division 5 Playoffs
(8) Langley @ (1) Stone Bridge (-28.0)

(5) Madison @ (4) South County (-6.0)

(6) Lee (-6.0) @ (3) Hayfield

(7) Mclean @ (2) Yorktown (-17.5)

Chantilly may have some better athletes, but they also do a good job of giving up the deep ball to opponents and WePo has two really strong receivers. Tilly has looked like a turd lately and I expect WePo walks away with a 10 point win.

As for the other games ... I'm going straight chalk in the first round for Div. 5 and 6.

To the Oakton Students/Fans that are trying to make LB students/players sound like idiots - Nice try!

To the LB Students that responded you prove their point. This game will be settle one way - on the field, between the lines!

If either team needs cork board material to get hyped to play this playoff game, then you are playing for the wrong reasons.

Its high school football, and different people are motivated in different ways, but putting KIDS names out there (whether its LB or Oakton) is not the way to go. Then to make light of a serious situation like the PSU one and using the act of raping someone is in poor taste.

When you post something using a kids name, at least get the right one and your facts straight.

The sad part of this, is that more than likely, the people posting won't be suiting up Friday night.

Let's not forget that these are kids and neither them nor parents like seeing their kids names put out there in a negative light.

Good Luck to both Teams!

Can someone explain to me how Madison put 20 on Stone Bridge? I know two of those TDs came in the 4th, but Madison looked like absolutely horrible tonight.

South County's defense looked great tonight, but SC had some STUPID penalties tonight. Against this Madison team it didn't hurt them but against a better opponent they are going to be game changers. SC had two defensive penalties called back due to penalties and SC had FOUR personal foul calls. SC had more penalty yards than Madison had offensive yards.

Madison scored against SB on a blocked FG attempt in the first 3 minutes of the game the block bounced right up to the Madison player after he blocked it and was behind everyone took it to the 3 Madison scored a couple of plays later. They got a TD when the SB QB did not get rid of the ball at the SB 1 fumbled into the end zone and Madison recovered for a TD can't remember the third one but it was against reserve players

Lee- 25
Hayfield- 20

Lee scored first with a field goal in the first half. On the next two drives however the Lee QB fumbled the ball and BOTH were run back for TD's. Missed extra point. 3-13.
Lee threw an interception giving Hayfield good field positions which then scored again making it 3-20 at halftime.

Lee scored shortly after halftime making it 10-20.

Lee then scored again making it 17-10 midway through the fourth quarter.

Lee stops Hayfield and recieves the punt but is unable to do anything in that position and punts away but is able to pin Hayfield at their own 2 yard line. Lee then holds them at that line and Hayfield is forced to punt. The snap however was a bit high and went out of the endzone for a safety. 19-20.

Hayfield kicks the ball away and Lee takes posession around their own 35. After some incomplete passed and penalties its 3rd and long. The Lee QB lobs it to WR Kt Taylor who jumps over the Hayfield defender and makes an amazing catch inside the redzone. A few plays later Lee pounds it in. Missed extra point. Lee leads 25-20.

Lee then kicks it off to Hayfield and the returner makes an excellent cut an is running for the endzone. RB Michael Jolly of Lee however runs him down (fastest kid in the district, I kid you not) and stops him around Lee's 35.

After a few plays Hayfield throws a quick pass to the WR who then lobs it to an open WR in the endzone, Hayfield TOUCHDOWN! But wait, penalty flag on Hayfield. Lee ball.

Lee wins.

CRAZY FUCKING GAME

Braddock was running the spread passing offense and getting alot of 1 on 1 matchups and capitalizing on them, specifically the Quigley WR. He had a few td's where the coverage wasnt bad but it was 1 on 1 w/no help and the QB made a good throw. I though the Oakton defense was a little too aggressive in how they were covering the LB WR's. In my opinion they should have gone to a softer bend by dont break cover 2 or 3 defense. often times it seemed they even had a linebacker trying to cover one of their slot WR's and had a mismatch created there.

the play of the game was a phenomenal intereception return by LB#3 for about an 80 yard touchdown where he must have ran 150 yards and broken 8 tackles but it was called back because immediately after the int on of the LB players decked an Oakton player w/a legal block but then stood over him and got a taunting foul.

Couldn't have been too many reserves out there - Madison's final TD made it 28-20 and Triveri had to score the last TD to put it away for Stone Bridge

I think that the top patriotic district teams are better than the mid-range concord teams. But teams like Soco, West Po, LB and Lee couldn't hang with Westfield or Centreville.

Chantilly fizzled out, but the Concorde was still undoubtedly the best district. Chantilly and Oakton were a combined 10-0 out of district. Factor in the powers Westfield and Centreville make that 20-0.

Oakton beat both South County and Lee, and spanked Woodson and Annandale. Patriot district went 0-4 against them in the regular season. The wheels fell off early last night and I will give credit to Lake Braddock for a good game plan.

Chantilly completely rolled over and died, but the team from the first half of the year was 5-0, then the team from the second half of the year averaged a 20 point loss with a 28 point win in there. Chantilly beat both Woodson and West Springfield in spankings and is the only team this year to beat Stone Bridge (although Westfield or Centreville would spank them).

Get the hell out of here comparing the patriot to the Concorde. Look at state championships. Look at head-to-head results this year. Look at the region championship which will be two concorde teams, what a .joke

Considering the giant bag of flaming dog poo Chantilly turned out to be, bragging about beating them is like bragging about being the tallest midget.

I saw the first West Potomac - Westfield game and while WePo played well in the first half, they have no answer for Westfield's depth on both sides of the ball. If Westfield can get Anderson established early then WePo will struggle mightily in this game.

I expect the final score to be somewhat similar to the first game: 31-10

Oakton got what they deserved for playing Boone who was caught up in the same mess as the 2 players at Centreville. The kids from Centreville have been serving the mandatory 30 day suspension, WHILE Boone missed 1 game and has played the last 2 games. Oakton as usual bent the rules to let him play. There is an old saying:

Cheaters never prosper! and another:

Kharma is a BITCH!!!

Westfield vs. West Po will be a good game again this week. Look for Westfield to get Anderson going and the passing game going as well also for the defense to step up big time at home. Looking like westfield might be headed to the northern region championship game again. Calling for a 35-21 win for WHS over WPHS. As for Centreville I look for them to score early and often against Lake Braddock, I think Centreville sticks it to them 42-7.

Boone situation was investigated by the school. He was suspended during the investigation. Oakton admin found that there was no reason for a suspension, he was not charged by police, no documentation of wrong doing. He was not suspended from school or by the AD. Once the investigation was over he was back on the team.

I hope you are kidding? The Oakton admin investigated the situation? Either the Oakton admin are Morons or Cheaters, I would go with Cheaters knowing what everyone knows about the situation. That kid was hammered we all saw it. He was pulled into the admins office and was bawling like the little bitch he is. The police wrote him up so that's a lie. The school wrote it up so thats a lie. The only truth is the Oakton admin and AD didn't do their jobs and showed their true colors by not suspending the kid. In the end Oakton got exactly what they deserved, their football team got their ass kicked and the admin is an ethical laughing stock.

Hello? Is this the Oakton administration doing their "investigation"? Read the beginning of the thread to get answers to your questions. The facts/truth speak for themselves, as does the fact that the Oakton administration (Principals /DSA/ Coaches) allowed a kid to play, knowing damn well he had violated multiple County rules regarding drugs and alcohol. Everybody knows it and they obviously either thought they could get away with it or just do not care that everyone knows.

For the purposes of getting things back on track in this thread, I'm gonna steal stevek2's thunder and post some lines so we can get some actual football discussion going ...

Division 6:

#4 West Potomac @ #1 Westfield (-21)

#6 Lake Braddock @ #2 Centreville (-21)

Division 5:

#4 South County @ #1 Stone Bridge (-7)

#6 Lee @ #2 Yorktown (-9.5)

Personally, I think that if there is going to be an upset, it is going to come out of Division 5. Westfield and Centreville are too far ahead of their opponents in my opinon. I do think that either Division 5 game could be a victory for the visitor. In fact, I think South County has a better chance of beating Stone Bridge than Lee of topping Yorktown.

In the D5 games any of the teams could win and it would not be much of an upset.
I think the upset will be in one of the D 6 games, not sure which one.

I know that Westfield and Centreville has looked great all season long, but anything can happen in the playoffs

LB v Centreville:
Centreville has coasted in all of there games except for Westfield, and they should have won that game. Braddock with the running game to compliment the passing game has played well down the stretch. I think this game will be closer then people think.

WP v Westfield:
Westfield has been outstanding all year, only close game was Centreville.
WP has the athletes to compete with anyone.
Again, I think this game will be closer then people think.

I don't think WP will be kept off the scoreboard, but I think Westfield -21 will end up pretty accurate. WP just isn't good enough in their defensive front to slow down Anderson. The only way Westfield doesn't put up a ton of points is if the clock is constantly running because Westfield gives the air attack the day off and Anderson keeps getting the ball.

South County will beat Stonebridge.

South County has a dirty defense, as well as a decent option offense and the ability to throw the ball if they have to. And even if Stonebridge's defense shows up and keeps them out of the redzone their kicker can make 50 yarders

Soco 35 Stonebridge 13

LB +21 and west pot +21 spreads are ridiculous. great way to motivate both teams, both games will be closer than you think, and like nrwatch stated, anything can happen in the playoffs.

You do realize that the last time Westfield and WePo played, Westfield won by 21 and that was after half-assing it during the first half of that game. Has WePo done something to the interior of their defense during the last five weeks to prevent Kendell Anderson from cashing in 3 bills again?

As far as Centreville and Lake Braddock are concerned, Lake Braddock had a great game last week, but I'm going with the body of work and I think there is no better defense in the region this year than Centreville's.

And let's not forget, spreads aren't necessarily a reflection of what the final score will be, they are more a reflection of betting trends and to encourage betting (or in this case, encourage conversation).

I do not think there will be any major upsets this week. South County has played great, but going off seeing them play, I do not think they will be able to stop Stone Bridge. I have not seen Lee or Yorktown play, so my spread comes from studying game scores.

In D6 not a chance we see a upset. It is Westfield and Centreville for a trip to states next weekend, and I am gitty looking forward to that one. No one is close. Lake Braddock did give Centreville their closest game this year, an 11 point win, I think they will score a couple times and hang around a bit, but to be honest my spreads are modest for D6. Overall, I think it is a bad week for playoffs if you like close games.

Division 5
South County @ Stone Bridge (-10.0)
Lee @ Yorktown (-10.0)

Division 6
West Potomac @ Westfield (-17.0)
Lake Braddock @ Centreville (-14.0)
