I would agree that most will count LB out with losing both Neibrich and Zanellato. Its much more about a program and not just players. Hard to convince one when the majority of the offense went through these two players in 2010.
The Quigley twins come from good pedigree that has thrived at LB. The QB has huge shoes to fill, but has proven that he is up to the task in some of the games last year. His biggest hurdle is learning to not look for his brother on every play and use the other tools that are around him. While the WR is a great target, when he locks in on him, they lose, much like what happened at the Mel Kiper Championship vs. Red Lion the only two games they lost. That was not the only reason they lost those two games, but in the first one, he forced a lot of throws into his brother while others were open. The huge upside to him is that there is time to fix it and he has 3 years in Poythress' system. Make no mistake, these two are very valuable to the Bruins success this year, along with the other 4 receivers.
Now with Hoskins, its not that he was not healthy last year, from the stands it looked like they did not have confidence in him on offense even though he is very athletic. Look at it, when the Senior RB went down with a broken collarbone, they went to Jones at RB a kid who is more of a WR/DB rather than give Hoskins a shot. Even when Jones wasn't getting the job done, they gave him a little taste, but kept putting the kid from St. John's back there who also couldn't get it done. Down the stretch, they went with the MLB back there, a move that could have cost them a chance at the state title. Defensively he started and he was always around the ball at OLB, not sure why they took him off, would have helped in the first Robinson game. IMHO, he is better served on defense. I've seen this kid play a number of times in youth league and he was a stud on both sides of the ball, but haven't seen much on offense on the HS level to say that all the sudden LB will have a running game with him back there, but I could be wrong. My point, the jury is still out on the offense period!
Defensively, I would agree, on paper they should be solid, but will need some work with losing the Mike along with the DC. Transfer kid from Cal??? Where are you getting your info? I talked to one of the coaches and they know nothing about it.
As a Bruin follower for years, I am optimistic about 2011, but to have them 3 peating as Northern Region champs will take some work.
