College kids toking on Ashbury near Pool
Posted by: Elder One ()
Date: November 15, 2010 11:39PM

On Hadlow Drive and Ashbury Drive, there is a swimming pool. Kids pull up to the curb and "hot box" weed.

Now that the college kids are returning for Turkey Break, it is like weedville.

This is right up the street from where the "Naked Coffee Guy" was turned in. What is it with West Springfield and their anal-retentive nature? You had a girl give birth right under your nose and pass off the baby in front of church down the street, but some college kids want to smoke some chiba and you start blurting it on the interwebs. (Which will undoubtedly only attract MORE of them)

Why not go out and say something to them? They would undoubtedly be agrreable, maybe even paranoid, but certainly not dangerous. Bring a bag of Doritos.

Something tells me you are jealous, maybe you wish you could embibe? Loosen up, granny.

Glad to hear the kids are still partying. Heaven knows they can't get beer these days. Ship them off the fight a war at 18, but god damn, don't catch them with a fucking beer until their 21. They can't handle that!

The military is voluntary now - if the kiddies want to join up and get shipped off, goody for them; that's really a lousy excuse for excusing "smoking a little weed while driving".

Frankly, I want ALL drugs legalized and taxed like hell - California (and Oregon?) main cash crop, for Pete's sake, and our government is PAYING for it rather than taxing it! Now that is DUMB!

But it's still illegal, the folks trafficing in it are NOT nice guys, I still don't want my kids to get into it until they're WELL into college (as I myself did way too long ago), and having them across the street where my kids play is totally wrong.

"Why not just hang out with a digital camera "

Lol!

I'm fairly certain a number of neighbors have done just that. We're not in the Springfield area (as in the original post) but around here these bozos have been parking in an expensive single-family home development right in front of residents' houses and they obviously are not visiting someone who lives anywhere around here. Within a VERY small area (within, say, a literal stone's throw from their "relaxation") are a homeowner who works for the DEA, a homeowner who works for the Secret Service, a homeowner who works for the prison system, a homeowner who IS a Fairfax County cop, a homeowner who I believe works as a prosecutor, and so on. I think one or more of them may have some interest and a digital camera laying around.

Natty Light is probably the official beer around these parts nowadays. a lateral move if you ask me. Bush pokes its head around once in a while, but natty light is the cheapest shit around. are you an FSU graduate, Fundamental? what year?

Wow. yeah you really are smarter than the two of us because you can spell the name of a shitty beer properly. the way i judge another person's intelligence is whether or not they can spell beer brands properly. if they forget the "c" in Busch, they quite clearly must be stupid.

Too bad that there isn't more of a community center for kids to hang out at.

A whole lot of crime would disappear if drugs were legalized (and taxed like hell!). I wish someone would do a comparison on money spent on drug crime EVERYTHING (*) and drug use fixup social services - it would probably be amazing.

As noted way above, however, it's illegal now, the bad guys are not nice, the hot-boxers are not necessarily simply users but could (and sure appear to be in my 'hood) distributors as well with the whole territorial protection crap that makes their presence undesireable to, for example, homeowners and parents.

========

(*) The cost comparisons are usually TOTALLY bogus; all that I've seen grossly underestimate the crime-approach costs and rarely accurately address the social services costs (thus making it appear that treating drugs in a criminal sense is more cost-effective).

No really OP if you have an issue with it, just call non-emergency police- 703-691-2131 and ask for a patrol in that area. Unfairfax will send someone out to at least drive by for you.

I'm pro-weed but not for being dumb enough to toke in public in front of other people's houses. They should have either a) drove around ( not sit in one spot being suspicious) or b) stayed their asses at home. Betting they're underage and can't smoke when mommy is home. :|

It's beyond dumb.

That's how "the activity" first came to my attention. A car parked across the street (right next to the DEA employee's house!) that hadn't been there before and two guys got out and started casually walking around (plus or minus 50 feet from their car!). One stopped in front of the corner of my yard and just stood there looking at the ground. The other was on a cell phone. Shortly thereafter, another car drove up, again with strange late-teenagers/early-20-somethings, they schmoozed and then all left.

Probably went out to lunch together, huh?

This happened often enough, with some of the participants also just sitting in cars from which humongous clouds of smoke emitted from the partially opened windows.

And all in the MIDDLE of a dead-end street where they obviously weren't visiting anyone.

Do they really think they're invisible?

Based on conversations with more than one neighbor (including hte neighhbors in front of whose houses they're sitting), they're not.

I guess that they must be uber dumb; as the one car sat on the street, a second one pulled up behind it. Two kids got out & tried to get into the car.

This seems to happen every year when Fall Break or Thanksgiving break is near.

If it is legalized, kids could just stay home & be off the streets!

There must be DEA around several neighborhoods.
Or these kids just are foolish enough to park where they think it is "safe".

It was night when the kids drove up on our street. They parked under a streetlamp. I just watched from the bay window wondering what was going on.

There is a retired DEA agent living in the house across from where these 'young adults' were partying. The entire car was filled with smoke.

I did the same thing. I think the problem is all the woods and fields have been turned into housing developements and strip malls. Back in the day the worst Fairfax PD did to us was make us pour out the beer. I heard they wont do that anymore because if the parents find out they make a complaint on the police for not notifying them their kids are drinking.

God forbid you get caught underage. The law wants to send you to rehab, take away your driving license and if you are in college they can kick you off campus and forfeit a scholarship. IMO total over reaction to something that has been going on since alcohol has been around.

There's a greyish/titanium colored Chrysler Concorde or Intrepid with an older teen/college-aged kid driving around that area (Kerry & Etta Drive, off Sydenstricker). They park, toss a grocery bag with empty beer cans out into the woods, etc. Maybe they're smoking marijuana too.

Is it legal for them to have open alcohol containers in a car in Virginia? When did kids that age get so comfortable with parking in front of another person's home and doing this?

Marijuana could be legalized and taxed. But the users shouldn't drive when smoking marijuana (it does impair judgment/response time).

It isn't legal for an adult to have an open container of alcohol in the car in the State of VA.

I also wonder why people feel so comfortable pulling up infront of someone's house to party. I guess they must feel like they are safe or 'they just don't give a damn'.

I do not recall even one friend being hauled into court for underage possession when I was young. I am glad I got all that out of my system before it turned into a major crime.

Right now simple underage possession is a class one misdemeanor. That is the same as if I walked up to a total stranger and punched him in the face. The times I was sitting in court the judges usually gave the people a couple of hundred dollar fine and maybe community service. I think even the judges realize the prescribed penalties are too harsh.

That is bullshit.

I drive way more cautious when im stoned.
i fly down the road when im stone-cold sober. i swear to god i am a nuisance. VA made a mistake by giving me a license because i wreak havoc on the roads.

when im stoned though i stay in the right lane and go 55. turn signals, head checks, and caution are my best friends.

if im sober all i want to do is fly past everyone in the left lane. Ive never been in a serious accident, but ive been in 2 or 3 fender benders--all when im SOBER! when im stoned i am cautious and MORE AWARE!

fuck you and your politically correct "driving while impaired" bullshit. you've probably never smoked a bowl in your life. and no, im not talking about heating a ceramic dish you eat cereal out of, Gay Chrysler

According to what FCPS teaches middle school students, using marijuana reduces men's abilities to have erections. Stoner = no boner

yeah, keep listening to what FCPS teachers tell you. that's whats wrong with america. no one thinks for themselves anymore. we are spoon-fed everything we "need to know," and don't take the time to consider other points of view.

Don't like my personality? that's weird because you don't even know me. and if you don't like my personality, then you can pound sand...im not trying to date you. if you're looking for a date, try e-harmony.com. i heard they make special accommodations based on personalities, interests, and some other bullshit no one cares about. i know plenty of people who enjoy my company. and they are probably more intelligent than you. go screw
