Can't wait to get more new semi-automatics and machine guns in Fairfax County! I am assuming Nazi and Hilter paraphernalia will also be sold as usual?

Why not?

And the Nazi paraphernalia does bother me too. There's nothing wrong with recognizing and appreciating history, even the bad guys' history, but...I can't help but feel like similar to the Confederate flag issue. Why would you want to be associated with that group?

'Course, we think Roman historical paraphernalia is just fine, and I don't think they were any better. Is it just plain "Too soon"?

Only if you have a Class III weapon license and the dealer is certified to deal in Class III weapons. They're extremely expensive, too.

My grandfather has a sword, bayonett and various items that he took off of a dead SS officer when he fought in the battle of the bulge. He kept it as a momento for the fall of tyranny and hell that he went through. While I think the stuff he has is cool in his case, I get repulsed at the sight of the swastikas and other ss symbols.

I'll be at the show, but not around that mess. I'm there for more ammo; I fired about 4000 rounds at my property in Rockingham County this past weekend.

No issue there. War trophies are kept to show our victory, and rightly so. But that's different from just collecting them, I think.

I'm sure many honorable decent people fought in both the Wermacht and the Waffen SS, just as many did for the Confederacy in our own Civil War.

But why would one want to voluntarily associate themselves with something like that? I can't see it. Maybe I'm just a little narrowminded in that regard.

I don't consider that narrowminded. I agree that if one were to associate themselves with the symbology in a vengeful manor or display, then it's wrong. they are scum. I stay out of the confederate flag controversy. Having deep southern roots, I have family that still admire that flag simply for it's heritage. They don't wear it, display it or fly it in their yards, yet they appreciate it. they aren't racists, they are native americans who got caught up in a white man's world.

And me: I'm just a crazy old Scott's Irish American Indian who loves to have a drink and good conversation with anybody, regardless of your skin color or beliefs....... unless that is, your an asshole :)

Remind me again why I need a gun????

a) I'm not planning on offing my family and then shooting myself.

b) I don't want to shoot up some university or school.

c) I've never work for the post office or have plans to.

d) I don't have the need to kill a doctor if I don't like the diagnosis.

e) I don't have any kids to allow to play with the guns.

f) I get alone with all my homies.

g) There are no stray cats in my neighborhood.

how about in case that @$$hole pulls one on you and demands you to hand him your wallet or keys. Oh, I dont have a way to defend my family from this a-hole I guess I should have supported the right to carry. Doh! That is why it is important to be able to carry a gun for self defense.

everybody who legally can should carry, but even carrying dosen't always protect you. I was robbed at gunpoint in Hampton, Va in 1990, and I was legally carrying consealed a .45 ACP. He had the drop on me with a .38 calibre or better revolver and I wasn't about to take a chance and get killed trying to reach, unholster and fire my handgun when he already had one pointed in my face so I handed him my wallet, let him run off and called the police. Don't compromise your, your loved one's or bystander's safety. Killing isn't what its all cracked up to be; too much paperwork and too many sleepless nights wondering what you could or should have done differently.

As a member of the organization that got shall-issue concealed carry passed in Virginia, someone who's had a CCW permit pretty much every since, and have owned guns since the day I was legally able to...

The answer in that case is "Give him your wallet and keys." It's only when and if the assailant shows interest in hurting someone that you draw a gun.

I just snuck up behind you and put a gun at your head, "Give my your fucking money or I'll blow your head off!"

Do you think criminals are going to announce they are coming so you can get your gun out?

Why do you have life insurance, car insurance, health insurance, or home insurance, when you hardly ever need to "use" it? You'll wish you had it when you need it.

Not that discussion why I need a gun again. Lunatics with guns. The world needs more of them. If you are legit that is fine. But not everyone is and ruins it for the rest. I would rather no lunatics have guns and if it hurts others I am sorry, but I do not wish death or ingury on anyone. I hear CERT will be there and they need volunteers. Visit http:www.fairfaxcert.blogspot.com and find out how to volunteer for CERT and get free admission to the shows at the Dulles Expo. I think this is same week as the Home Show too.

I wouldn't compare the NAZIs to the Confederates. Confederate history is a major part of American history, and the Confederates were our brethren. The NAZIs on the other hand were an absolute enemy.

LOL @ Romans.

I had some guy offer to sell my father a NAZI SS knife one time, and he simply replied: "No thanks. The only way I'd get one of those, is if I captured it off a dead NAZI myself". That's pretty much my feeling as well. I don't have anything against people buying it, but I don't feel like spending money on something so hideous.

I always get a charge when the uninformed think you can just walk in
and buy a machine gun without jumping through a lot of hoops. The
Class III license isn't cheap either. The cost of the gun is enormous
and going to the range for an afternoon can cost megabucks. Replacement
parts aint cheap either. Then there's the storage requirement.

Sigh... You do NOT need a license to purchase a Title II gun. (Machinegun / Submachine gun or Supressor) All you need to do (in simple terms) is fill out a form, have the chief of police of your county sign it or have a Trust (LLC) send it to ATF with a ONE TIME cost of 200 dollars and wait several months, usually 3-5 months. Then enjoy. If you do buy one there you won't leave with it. :D

The wiki is pretty good with definitions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_License

"Remind me again why I need a gun?"

Same reason that you would need baseball cards if your hobby was collecting baseball cards. I like to target shoot and that requires me to have something to target shoot with. All the anti-gun people think about is people carrying their guns concealed and how nervous that makes them.

Your comment about not having kids to play with the guns is idiotic, what does that have to do with the gun itself? That is just a lack of education and respect for guns. If more people who owned guns taught their children about them and took them shooting to show them the potential danger of treating that gun like a toy it wouldn't happen so much. I shot my first gun when I was six years old and that was after I was shown how to load, unload, clean, and re-assemble the gun as well as watched my uncle shoot an apple with it, that gets the point across very quickly when a child sees the amount of damage that a firearm can do. If a child shot themselves or another child with a gun that is the result of an irresponsible gun owner.

I was pointing out that while guns are toted as "for protection" the opposite is also true where family members are killed by the exact same "protection gun."

I agree guns can protect family members, but they can equally lead to deaths of family members.

Those who live by guns, die by guns. That is all.

Not all guns are toted as for protection, no one uses a black powder rifle to defend their home. Bricks can protect family members as well as kill them. This is more about a persons state of mind and their understanding and education about guns than it is about the actual gun. I'll grant you that in the heat of the moment a person may grab a gun and shoot their loved one over some stupid argument and that if the gun wasn't there then their loved one would not be shot. But again that comes back to the stability and maturity of the person, a logical well balanced person will not grab a gun and point it at someone because of an argument. Now if we had a way of determining who these illogical and unbalanced people are I would be all for banning them from having guns but since we don't have that capability you can't punish everyone because of the actions of a few.

I've had two guns out on a table before when I was cleaning them, and someone really pissed me off about something. Yet, the thought never even crossed my mind about going for either one of the pistols.

Is it true they can refuse to sell you shit if you have a suspended license? My one buddy tole me he heard they can check to see if you have unpaid traffic fines (non felony) and will act like dicks if your license got pulled. it sounds like bullshit but you never know. it's enough hassle already.

St. Peter says "Woah there, he's on the list." And in a scruffy Viking voice you say: "But we're with him."

never been to one,

Yes, you can cash and carry, you will have to go through the background check if you buy from a licensed dealer, there is no longer a waiting period in FFX County, hasn't been in a few years. If you buy from a private citizen then it is considered a citizen to citizen sale and there is no background check required. As far as caliber goes it doesn't matter if you're buying a .22 or .454 casull its all the same.

I drove around behind the back of the expo center and there were all these weird edgy looking dudes standing around in different corners just staring down all the cars driving by. I normally don't think this is a big deal, but these dudes seriously looked troublesome or at the least like they were expecting trouble.

How fucked up would it be if the expo center came under attack during a gun show and all the 'bad ass' gun toting dumb asses thought they could shoot their way out, while the reality is they would just be dumb fish in a big fucking barrel getting blown the fuck up, all the while feeling safe because they have guns.

Those edgy dudes are vigilant plain clothed and uniformed officers from state and local agencies keeping an eye on that place to keep the peace and make sure nodody tries to pull any stupid shit while the vendors move inventory in and out of the loading areas.

I wouldn't want to be the fool terrorist or criminal trying to pull off a weapons heist there. Between the cops and all the rednecks you would certainly die with many holes from various calibers and edged weapons. And your mutilated body would be paraded through the streets and eventually divvied up and taken home in pieces by many as a souvenir.

This is America, we don't play.

yeah right.. a couple uhauls full of explosives...

those guns would be molten metal..

besides, I was driving by drinking a 23.5oz Juice while they were busy looking for a fight.. so much for vigilance on the state agencies....

they make about as much sense as the state charging $1.50 to pay a speeding ticket online..
