In another post, there was mention on how Northern VA carries the rest of the state. This is mostly true, as aside from parts of Tidewater and some of Richmond and their suburbs, there isn't much else happeneing to "carry" the rural parts.
That said, answer yes or no to the following:
Do you support NOVA (Fairfax, Loudon, Prince Wm., Arlington, and Alex.) as a seperate state, vs. one state, supporting the rest of the Commonwealth?

Considering NOVA/Fairfax area fronts the payments for roads etc for the rest of the State it might not be a bad idea. The only other place in the State that contributes is Norfolk/Va Beach area and that's because of the Naval bases.

i would say yes if it were a static situation but there is some factors you must consider. NoVA is expanding. while it wont reach the whole state (any time soon), we are sure to absorb more counties into what is considered NoVA. less than a decade ago, Loudon County was out of the way and rather sparsely populated. if we cut out a good chunk of the northern part of VA, that might work. i agree we are carrying the rest of the state which is a bitch. what we really need is for some big companies to start forming what would become another megatropolis further south of here. this would begin to solve or at least delay the sprawl dilemma we are in.

No California should split from the US. They already have two chambers of representatives, their own supreme court, the sixth largest navy in the world, 1/6th of the economic power of the whole US etc.

The following should become their own state..country even:
Manassas & Dumfries would become Dumasses
Woodbridge would become Hoodbridge
Herndon would become Little El Salvadore
Chantilly, C-ville and Fairfax City would become..ahhh who cares, just turn those 3 into Naval Bombing Ranges
