i would say yes if it were a static situation but there is some factors you must consider. NoVA is expanding. while it wont reach the whole state (any time soon), we are sure to absorb more counties into what is considered NoVA. less than a decade ago, Loudon County was out of the way and rather sparsely populated. if we cut out a good chunk of the northern part of VA, that might work. i agree we are carrying the rest of the state which is a bitch. what we really need is for some big companies to start forming what would become another megatropolis further south of here. this would begin to solve or at least delay the sprawl dilemma we are in.

trust me when i say, no they do not want to become a state. that place is hella fucked up anyway. the politics there are completely different and waaay more corrupt. if they became a state, it would screw up their system of corruption.
