Hmm... I used to be friends w/ Dan Creasy. He used to hang out with a friend of mine at work named Eric Priesz.

I was suprised to see Dan in a picture with Chad once randomly on twitter. I was like, I didn't know Dan was friends with Chad.

I realized the same thing a couple of years ago. The show, as much as I liked it on WJFK, is just not for me anymore. And that's fine, life goes on. I assume Chad and Oscar know what's best for their careers in radio.

I am interested how Dons hiring will change things for Chad in the near future. I suspect either he or Lavar, OR BOTH will be affected.

A while back I wondered if it was me or them that changed and I randomly stumbled upon a segment from when they were on the air and was genuniely entertained by it. There was something intangible that was different about the show when it was on the air.

I think you hit the nail on the head. There's really nothing appealing about the show, it's as if they are just doing it for their small niche type group of friends. When you compare what they are doing to other internet shows out there, it just doesn't hold up. For the sake of argument, leave my show out of it because i know some will think i'm trying to get my own show over and take out my issues with Chad. About 75% of my radio listening is live internet shows and podcasts and the BOAD show doesn't stand up to those. I know some may disagree, but that's just my opinion.

I don't disagree with you. The best thing about them being on the internet though is they don't have the restrictions that they would being on Terrestrial or even to a lesser extent on Satellite radio. They can do whatever they want, they control their own destiny and whether or not people agree or disagree they are not living up to their full potential on this version of the show. It's not interesting, it's done mainly for their small group of friends and some people listen but i strongly doubt its a massive audience. They have no one to blame but themselves for not having a bigger audience. That and how many people are involved in that show? Between all those people they can't pull together real show prep and big guests for the show?

This is the part where i will bring my own show into this for a moment to make my point. When it comes to my show, It's up to me to find the best content and put it out there. Rather its certain topics or getting a big guest, It's all up to me. I have a co-host but when it comes to all the behind the scenes stuff, i do that by myself and work full time. I'm certainly not going to spend all of my show or even half of it talking about myself, my group of friends and drop inside jokes and references that no one's going to get. Because that's not going to get me anywhere.

The competition in Internet radio & podcasting is tough for the reasons you listed above, but you can succeed and build a decent audience if you put in a great effort. BOAD is falling short in my opinion.

Damn, why not make it more about yourself? This is a BOAD message board, yet you can't stop talking about your show. Nobody on here cares about your show.

I think it's different than regular radio. You're not competing against those guys in the same way you competed against whoever is on evening drive on DC101 or Hot 995. The above can all be successful without taking away from BOAD to some degree. It's more like people have a limited number of slots in their week to listen to podcasts and they are competing to be in one of those slots.

Also, I would say that their terrestrial radio show COULD have been up there with any of those heavy hitters. However they went from being able to sell out the State Theater to only selling 113 tickets at Jammin Java.

I was comparing all internet radio/podcasts to them that was my whole point, i used my show for an example. It's clear that you're simply a fanboy so you read only what you wanted to see. I do have advertisers on my program, you wouldn't know that because you've not heard my show because i'm not putting links to my show in here to "make it all about me" as you think i am. I'm no different than anyone in here commenting on the BOAD show.

Oh and you are confusing me with another guy who does a podcast that did an hour long show talking about me and charged people for it. I've said it once and i'll say it again, i have nothing to do with that show other than appearing on it, i can't control what they did. Whatever that guy wants to do with his podcast is up to him. I don't care. I don't agree with charging people because i've never charged anyone to hear any of my content, that includes interviews.

Also you don't have a clue the numbers i do with my podcast, much as i don't have a clue the numbers BOAD does. We can all speculate but no one really knows and much like you said no ones heard of me, outside of VA and AZ ask how many people have heard of BOAD. You've built them up in your mind to be the greatest show on the planet and you are confusing your built up hype for them with real facts. When they make the front page of places like iTunes and chart on a regular basis come back and talk to me.

At the end of the day the BOAD show is a show that USED TO BE on radio and is now on the internet with the rest of us internet programs. Just because they WERE on radio doesn't mean they get this magical pass to the top of internet radio/podcast charts and as i said previously you'd think they would take all that great experience they have collectively and put out a better show than they have now.

^^^ thats a great point. i forgot the hillbilly aspect of his latest obsession.

I have tried to give their show the benefit of the doubt because I still remember from the radio days how funny Big O and Dukes could be. They were often times very clever, inventive, and witty. They may be competing with bigger names now that they are in the world of the podcast, but they just offered something different than Joe Rogan, Greg Fiztsimmons, or Bill Burr. I liked their more light hearted and frivolous approach to humor and entertainment, but they are seriously doing an appetizer bracket challenge?

This is the best that they could come up with? Chad Dukes states how he doesn't like books or movies that are self mastabutory, but his show has come full circle and is now just one big circle jerk for his ego. The fry challenge was embarrassing and now they are just beating a dead, boring horse.

I don't know how they have any energy left to give to the podcast as it seems that all three of them have more important priorities. I wish that could reclaim some of their old glory, but I am afraid that ship has sailed.

I could see if they were to do brackets every 6 months or so, but they're doing this one weeks after the fries bracket. Are they seriously going to just keep this going perpetually? If they expect anything other than diminishing returns on this idea they are delusional.

This is how they reward the paying listeners as well. Another 30 minutes about a food bracket. Duke's paranoid "everyone is copying our podcast that statistically no one listens to" nonsense is really off-putting. That phone call with random guy about the fry bracket made me cringe as much as Don Geronimo getting hung up on by O&A. Dukes was just yelling, losing a terrible argument to begin with, and looking like a buffoon. Now he's "seeing a lot of talk about pizza toppings" on social media or some nonsense.
