I listened to the interview mostly out of a curiosity of what goes on behind the scenes of a program I have listened to for a long time. I really didn't think that Chad came off that bad from the interview, maybe a bit petty, but it wasn't at all what you or Chad are making it out to be.

Whether you like him or not, Chad is a legitimate radio personality. He has a solid resume and will probably have a career in broadcast radio as long as it's on. That said radio is a dying medium and he appears to be having some struggles with its likely successor.

Have to disagree. If it weren't for WJFK forcing Lavar on Chad he'd be off "real" radio and stuck doing podcasts only. That, and that alone, is why he's stuck it out this long. He knows full well that bolting that gig would end his career on radio (sans podcasts). And let's not get crazy and act like his resume is that of a legend. Far from it. He's lived the normal "par for course DJ" life, which is short stints here and there.

I am sure it's more like L&D is his highest paying, safest option rather than his only option. You don't think he'd be able to get a job in a smaller market if he wanted to?

I just heard that Gary fella on Sadly Lacking Radio which was very insightful as he shared first hand experiences With Dukes. I have never met Mr. Dukes, only listened to his greatness on the radio. I am torn on who I should side with because for one Dukes has provided me with quality entertainment on the radio throughout the years but this Gary fella sounded sincere in his falling out with Chad. Before I make a decision on who I will support on this matter, I would like to hear some more feedback on this matter.

I agree. There is absolutely no contact between radio stations and program directors from market to market across the country. They all operate in a secluded bubble that only reaches the area of their signal. There would be no way for them to find out anything about Chad Dukes. And, dont even think about following him on Twitter to see how he treats people because that is impossible.

You sarcastically say that about an industry where Howard Stern, Opie & Anthony and Mancow have all been employed. It's an industry full of divas who have said controversial things and treat their fans like shit. If The Greaseman has been able to find work (albeit pretty small work) Chad should have no problems finding work.

It's an incestuous indutry. The very first thing they would do is call the previous PD before hiring him. This isn't Howard Stern where you just take the guy no matter what.

I agree. I don't know where he would possibly land. There are basically 3 types of radio on the air right now:

Music - Probably not. Besides Chad likely hating this gig even more than his current one, it probably wouldn't pay anything, he doesn't have a classic "DJ voice", and from what I can tell his music knowledge is pretty thin. Especially when it comes to anything on the radio. These aren't the days where some DJ could hear of a band and put them on the air because they like them. Chad would have to play what Clear Channel told him to play. So no slipping in some of his hipster/redneck/country bands full of guys in beards wearing overalls.

Political Talk - You need some sort of "cred" within whatever group you are catering to in order to get on the air doing this. Chad has no political "following".

Sports Talk - He would have experience at least and potentially know the right people to get a gig. So maybe. On the other hand, his role on The Fan is that of the Redskins fanboy, best known for his "rant". Some people don't work outside one market. You couldn't take Mike Francesca and put him in Dallas and expect the show to work.

Unfortunately the genre Chad wants to do, "Hot Talk', is essentially dead on regular radio. The Junkies might be the closest thing remaining to it in the DC market.

Other guy talk shows were cancelled across the country around the same time JFK flipped. I don't think many found their way back on the air, and are doing podcasts. Leykis' "network" might be the most notable and I have no idea how well it is doing. Certainly we can look at MOMS and BOAD here and see they aren't exactly setting the world on fire, although the level of effort with BOAD could be questioned/blamed.

Ultimately I think Chad realizes this, which is why he keeps his mouth shut about Lavar these days, and has stated that a gig on SiriusXM would be his dream. He is right, the SiriusXM gig is the only way he gets to do what he wants to do.

Maybe when Howard retires they will look for some shows to fill that channel, and that will be BOAD's window of opportunity. Opie and Anthony aren't leaving any time soon. Ron and Fez could be gone, or might just go on as the Ron Bennington Show with some guy who chimes in 3 times a show.

Working against them is that SiriusXM apparently found it fit to invest in Covino and Rich, which is a similar "younger" demo compared to Howard and O&A. Personally I don't get why those two are on satellite, and they are way too "bro-ish" for me, but someone must like them because they have a satellite gig and Chad and Oscar don't.

Also hurting their satellite radio chances, BOAD is poorly represented by the last year or more of podcasts. The JFK radio show was a good example of the range and capability of the show, but now a potential employer is going to get an hour of stories about some random dudes and Dukes pretending to be a redneck. That's not what the show was originally about, and not why the show initially developed a loyal, if not sizeable, audience when it was on the radio. I don't blame SiriusXM for taking a pass on the show in its current state.

Being apart of the BOAD inner circle, I can only laugh at the nonsense that transpires on this perpetual thread. Each and every one of you would salivate at the mouth if you were given access to be apart of the BOAD show. Sadly for you, that's not the case. Instead you sit in your underwear typing ferociously by a man that consumes your thoughts 24/7. Make sure you all have a good rest of a day because I know I will. Gary is more than welcome to call into BOAD. I have it on good authority that Chad, Oscar and Drab will let Gary say his piece. Whether he chooses to call in is on him but the longer he flaps his gums, the longer that yellow stripe on his back is going to get.

I listened to these Gary interviews, and he's pretty spot-on when it comes to the Chad Mafia hangers-on. He sounds like a more pissed off version of Bracken, which could be entertaining on BOAD.

I agree with Back to the Bunker above saying that Gary should call into the show. But for sure Chad will not give him adequate space to give his piece, because it's too close to the truth.

I also agree. SLR damaged themselves with this one. But I will admit, Gary's show is pretty decent. Light years better than any BOAD podcast at this point.

As someone who is currently on the outs with Chad, I have all the respect in the world for Gary. He has been a voice for many of us in the radio industry who are afraid to speak out because of the repercussions. Believe it or not Chad has a lot of pull in this local market and it would be career suicide if we did what Gary is doing. Continue the good fight Gary and we will all be rooting for you!

It's more amusing when it isn't so obvious you are carrying on a huge conversation with yourself. Reminds me of when chad thought Jason Segal would talk to him over twitter. Instead it turned into the saddest one way conversation ever as chad just kept begging for attention.
