This is true. I can't seem to stop reading his latest review....of cheese.

Less than ten sentences in to Lord Dukes' Cheese Review:

"Usually in a drunken stooper after some high volume beers from the BAR they have located in the cheese department."

That's some good spell checking. Maybe a stooper is someone who sleeps on a stoop.

The review is one page of nothing but cliches and bad schtick. Here is the compressed version:

Grafton Cheddar 4 Year Aged Cheddar Cheese.
"The scent of this cheddar is intoxicating."
"Don’t let the promise of “crumbly” texture be off putting. It was very consistent. The flavor is intense, but not as overpowering as you might assume. "

What a review, from an excellent writer. I'll go by one right now.

I've made a commitment to not buy a single product that Dukes' has reviewed or actively plugs. Much like my vow to not frequent any website or product that advertises on DCRTV. I refuse to help companies who help assholes.

Speaking of DCRTV the last time I checked it he was trying to pimp some other site of his "fuzzface.com." Two things I learned about it:
1) It is not a gay porn site as the URL might suggest
2) It's a bunch of links to stories on other local news websites

This week they were talking about how few tickets they sold to tomorrow's event. Makes me wonder how many people that Chad #HAGL'd would have bought tickets if he hadn't done that. I wonder if deep down Chad knows that he is in some way responsible for this outcome.

You mean the show is losing popularity and no one cares to meet the "characters"? I'm shocked.

Yesterday in addition to listening to BOAD, I listened to The Bryan Callen Show and he was talking to Steve-o and both of them seemed like the nicest guys. Steve-O said that he thought that the performers with the most longevity were those who genuinely loved their audiences and all I could think of was Chad's treatment of people on Facebook.

Well gentleman, I finally did it. I went to a BOAD show.

Here's a TL;DR re-cap and review of BOAD Presents: Unforgiven and the events as they unfolded.

Personal background: I've been a fan of the show since around 2007 when I moved to the area. Despite being a caller to the terrestrial show and a contributor to the No Shtick Zone, among other fan dalliances, this was the first show event I've attended.

I went to the show on Friday night with three friends. One is a definite BOAD "P1": has a Reloaded subscription and has been to a BOAD show before. The other two friends remember the radio show fondly, and were along for the ride out of pure nostalgic curiosity. I warned them that there will undoubtedly be a ton of inside jokes that will go over their heads.

Upon walking into Jammin' Java, the scene at the front bar looked like a poorly organized Deadwood cosplay event. Tons of unfamiliar faces darted the landscape. Demographically speaking: out of the 50(?) or so attendees, there were no more than ten females present; some of whom may have been Jammin' Java employees. The attractive ones were generally attached at the hip to a boyfriend/husband who pitilessly drug them along. After grabbing a drink from the bar, I surveyed the landscape of people milling about the open space in front of the stage before Danny Rouhier's set. Most folks were adorned in some kind of western wear, or in some cases, redneck wear. Black-bearded “Blackout” Bruce was standing next to me in the crowd for a bit, along with three or four similarly bearded, overweight, and frankly menacing-looking rednecks. After a while of awkward standing and some offhand speculation among my friends as to which of the women could possibly be Princess Dukes, or Drab's underage lady, a kid wearing what appeared to be horse footy pajamas took the stage. "Hi, Horde", he timidly spoke, as he clenched the mic and began a rundown of the evening's events. In a few minutes Danny would be taking the stage, he assured us, his rundown peppered with a few nervous starts and stops, each followed by a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Soon after this introduction, Danny Rouhier took the stage. We were treated to roughly a half hour of stories and jokes involving "Unforgiven" and "Tombstone" references, along with some aggressive, Bill Burr-lite "I HATE PEOPLE" bits. Danny's set was very loud; his radio voice shining through. Some of his jokes were funny, and his delivery was certainly engaging. He proved to be the comedic tour de force that Dukes clearly aspires to be. But he so aggressively hammered home his punches with such sonic velocity, that much of the humor was literally deafened.

Following Danny, we were treated to another half hour of awkward standing around, listening to Ennio Morricone soundtracking (presumably so the Big Three could get further lubed-up), when the Horse-pajama man (a “Brony”), re-took the stage, along with a scraggly guitar-wielding youth. The guitarist was introduced as Lobster Red Face, who would play BOAD on the stage. Also sneaking on the stage was a slender gentleman in full Western bartender regalia, who, to his credit, seemed quite committed to the character: he wiped down the on-stage bar, maneuvered around glasses and pitchers of beer and liquor bottles, and chomped on a cigar, all the while donning the nonchalant, yet observant grimace of a barkeep used to trouble from his patrons.

Lobster then began to riff on his guitar, playing what sounded like a hastily-practiced amalgamation of "Ecstasy in Gold", a la Metallica, which went on for far too long. I believe now I remember that Lobster was a member of Harp & Eagle, and if his playing is any indication of how the rest of the band sounded, I believe that I missed precious little from the rare H&E show.

Finally, the Big Three took the stage. Drab was first, dancing in a full Native-American headdress, Oscar, with an over-sized cowboy hat and bandoleer, and finally Dukes, donning a long black trench coat, hat, and a “replica” rifle.

Whoever predicted in this thread that Dukes would come dressed as Longmire, and would be upset that people did not get the reference, was spot-on. Longmire was his costume, and roughly two people cheered at the mention of the little-watched show. We also found out that Zohan the Jew is our bartender! They proceeded to compliment his work ethic on the show, but lambaste his skills at pouring a proper pint. My respect for Zohan has increased: he did not make the show “all about him”. In fact, the actual content of the show revolved around Drab and his girl, Oscar's bizarre family some more costume discussion, constant (and usually hilarious) attempts to humiliate Dan Creasy, and a few off-hand mentions of the attendance being low. Dukes told a equal parts hilarious and disgusting tale of a bowel-related mishap that occurred in his marriage bed as a result of gorging on delicious Samoas girl-scout cookies. The story was classic Dukes: self-deprecating and hilariously recounted, with great reactions from Oscar and Drab. Other than the story itself, the other disgusting things onstage were Dan Creasy's unfortunate man-boobs, and the sickening sight of Dukes drinking his beer: a bizarre, open-mouthed suction of the liquid down his gullet: not quite a gulp, or a chug, but a repulsive suckling. I tried to look away whenever a drink was consumed.

At one point in the show, Oscar prefaces a story by saying: “for those new people in the audience who may not be familiar with _____”. But Drab shook his head, lamenting: “There's nobody new here.” But there were three there who WERE new. And even my confused friends admitted that the majority of the show was very similar to what they remembered liking about the terrestrial show; funny, engaging, and easy to relate to overall. However, there still was the expected filler of discussions with tertiary cast members that generally went nowhere and made the show drag at times, and elicit shrugs from my compatriots.

And I think ultimately Drab's head-shaking acceptance that there are “no new people” there to enjoy their show is what will continue to stifle the growth of BOAD. The niche hole that the boys have placed themselves in leaves little room for the uninitiated to become familiar with the “brand”. And that is truly a shame.

Hello everyone, I have a question about BOAD history. I don't listen to the podcast in its current incarnation because it sucks. However, I do still listen to old podcasts from the radio days that I have saved on my computer. One segment that I thought I had, which I apparently do not, is Sven Lloyd's first segment with the guys. If anyone has that particular segment or show archived, please let me know. If not, maybe someone could help me answer this question: How did Sven get his name? I believe 'Sven' came from Derek Foreal's boyfriend from the movie "Blow," and 'Lloyd' came from the sort of gay hotel clerk of the same name in "Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas." Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or post a link to the segment?

Yabels: By your description of that live show, it sounds like it was every bit as lousy as most expected. 50 attendees? If that's not an indication of a dead brand, nothing is.

Great description of the event. Knowing this, I would never go to an event. As Drab said, there is nobody new there, it's the same jerks who hang out in the bunker and hang out at Chad's or go on pig and beer meat ups. No thank you, I don't think any level of humor from them would make me want to go. Sounds like 50 people standing around in someone's basement.

It sounds like the cost of admission may have actually netted you the chance to hear them do a decent show. Except you shouldn't have to pay $15(?) to see them do a decent radio show.

50 people though? Yikes. Sounds like the brand is dying. I mean maybe the NCAA tournament stole some interested fans, but 50 is pretty damn sad.

I'd say for the event, anything >20 bucks is fine. I don't think I would go to another Jammin' Java show. I'd consider going to a different type of show: maybe a movie screening or Food Stock type of event, if they boys ever brought those back.

Gotta disagree with you there Yabels. For a show that once had a huge following, and harps about how they still have a huge following, anything under a few hundered in turnout is an epic failure. The fact they keep booking a really small venue for these garbage outings only tells you that they're fully cognizant of the fact their fame as all but faded away.

Great recap Yabels. And I'll take credit for the Longmire prediction, it's pretty sad that I was able to call that. Chad is becoming predictable in the most boring way possible.

Didn't they sell out their first couple of shows really quickly? I think Jammin Java holds about 150 people if I remember correctly, sad to say that they can't muster 150 fans in the DC area. Maybe they should have had everyone sit through live Intalksication and Minority Report before they had to get to BOAD, that might have gotten people excited.

So glad I went to see Bad Religion @ 9:30 instead.

Yables is a fool if he thinks that was 50 people. Been to all their shows, and most of the time they slammed. This one, not as much...but EASILY 150. Keep trying to tear down the show though.

150 would mean a nearly sold out show (their website says that they can hold "just under 200 people"), which doesn't sound like BOAD would be commenting on it being "empty" now would it?

Your incredibly poor grammar has me thinking you might be Chad. Even if you aren't, they almost always have them at JJ and they max sales at like 200. So I don't know how they are always 'slammed' and this was down at 150.

I think Yabels had a more realistic review and I doubt you could even see the crowd over your fat gullet, Chad.

Yabels, did they hang around and drink with the crowd afterwards? Also, princess dukes hardly ever goes out to those events.

I just tuned in to 30 seconds of the ustream. The "big 3" are voting on whether to ever have a live event again.
"The number Oscar just wrote down is insulting." - Chad, in reference to attendance. To be fair though, he seems to know what's up, saying they "let it erode" to that point. Maybe they'll retool the show. The live show sounded (from Yabels' review) to be worth listening to, hopefully they'll go back to a formula that works and stop focusing on the peanut gallery.

I think they should retool the live shows and maybe reformat the podcast. Im not as critical about big o and dukes as some of the people on this chat board. However i have felt the decline of content quality. I honestly think they should be absorbed by Mike's Network, or some other network.

Chad has spent a lot of time saying how supportive he is of the gay community and then he posts this. First, not all gay people have butt sex, Chad just wishes he could engage in more butt sex. I like the show, I still listen to the show, I am just no longer enthusiastic about it. I don't hate on the show per se, but I do think that Chad treats his fans with contempt and they have made some terrible decisions with the brand. And I don't think rolling it into Mike's network is the answer, although I think it's a question of "which ship is sinking faster?" and I don't think any of us are in any position to answer that with any data.

Practically everyone (Drab, the Peanut Gallery and the UStream people) told Chad that the assumed expectation from the show for all Jammin' Java attendees to wear costumes possibly scares people away from coming. This is a reasonable assumption, but Chad was indignant and incredulous to this possibility: screaming "fuck them!" and denying that this could be the reason at ALL.

I realize it is a convenient place for Chad to get to, but consider that their number one download area is Arlington (this was mentioned on a previous show). Chad needs to put his bro-dogg hate aside and book a gig in Balston or something; I'm sure the turn-out would improve. You have got to be delusional, Yabels, if you think snacks will EVER be on tv. It simply will never happen. Just like Oscar's terrible other pilot that never got close to being picked up, neither will this one.

In terms of subs and downloads being up... who knows, but it sure doesn't seem like it.

Chad is a dumb, fat man-child. How can he not see that asking adults to wear a costume to a live show (that isn't on Halloween) is a dumb idea.

Yes, yes I know wearing a costume to a WWE event is standard, but guess what BOAD isn't a wrestling show.

The cash split is 3 ways, right? 1/3 to Chad, 1/3 to Oscar, and 1/3 to Drab, right?

Why do O and Drab let Chad run things? Clearly, they have a $ interest in the live show selling out.

Keeping making the show about Chad and his white trash beer drinking buddies and you'll continue to "motherfuck" your brand. Keep those guys on your wrestling show, or your country music band, or your video gaming show, or "beer and pig".

Truthfully, you played YOURSELF Fattboy! Several months ago, you had a real chance the change the course of the show, you opted to go "LFF Jr" and dig in your heels... It drove what was left of your audience away... If you don't care, why should we? You charge a higher price for your "premium" episodes than anybody else and yet they don't even come with show notes...I can re-listen to other pay-content, because they have a DETAILED synopsis of each show I PAYED FOR(!!!)... I still listen every week, although I didnt reup my yearly reloaded subscription. I have been considering going to a show, but there is no way in HELL I am going to dress up, or go to a show where not dressing up would make me stick out. I dont dress up on Halloween, why would I dress up in March for a show that has nothing to do with dressing up?

Its sad that he doesnt realize that the shows are not filling up because he has #HAGL'ed 20-30% of the shows fans. She followed him to keep up with the health of his dog, because as a dog lover she was concerned for him and the dog. He blocked her on FB over a random conversation she had with a friend and made it a point to post that he was blocking her in their conversation. What a raging dick head.

So there, THAT is why no one goes to the shows anymore. Chad is a massive dickhead and the charm of Drab and Oscar simply cannot overcome it.

Good point! He has gone out of his way to alienate HIS OWN fans...No wonder they abandon him in droves...He trolls through his followers and stalks their posts why? Has it not occurred to him that these are paying customers?

I actually drove past Jammin Java that night on my way home from work, seemed like there was drinking going on still at least. I might have considered going if I didn't work that night, but the unforgiven theme was a little offputting to me. I do think they try too hard to get people to dress up, which not everyone is cool with doing. I did wear a santa type hat when I went to scrooged though.

It was funny to hear chad dare someone to challenge him in categories to clint eastwood movies, have a couple minutes to prepare, and then lose to someone who wasn't even a listener.

On the free show they said that listenership is up, reloaded subscriptions are up, but the number of P1s is down. I am sure that's fair, and I would imagine that P1s are the kind of people who are going to be more likely to try to interact with Chad, thus more likely to get insulted and blocked by him.

Yet more evidence of why people might shy away from listening to this blowhard and his gaggle of blowjobs, let alone pay to see a live show.

Another good point. This is what kept me away. If I didn't have my buddies to flank me, I wouldn't want to go. The show already has gotten so ridiculously insular and impenetrable with the inside jokes and ever-growing Dukes crew; it does not sound like an inviting atmosphere. At least if you go to a Junkies show, it's all about them four and maybe one or two others that they clown on (Valdez, Rom, Drab).

You people say their live attendance is dropping? People aren't listening much anymore? No surprise there. When you shit all over the loyal listeners and cater to the dukes hanger oners. I stopped listening to the podcast and Duke's sports show back in fall of 2009 when Dukes started messing with me personally. I'm not going to drop each and every detail but lets just say if you do internet radio you will not be on Duke's good side especially if you do a midnight video game release no less than 10 mins away and you're party has a better turn out than his. Yes this is what turned him against me. How ironic now as Dukes is against internet radio yet is trying to make his own mark online with BOAD.

If any of the guys from the show actually read this board let me be clear, I have zero problem with Oscar and Drab. Both were nothing but cool to me in the time i listened to the show and went to appearances. But Dukes is a whole other story. Sadly he won't change. It's unfortunate. The show used to be so good and i know that as a fan i did everything i could to help promote. I lost all respect for him when he messed with me and the show i was on.
