I always hear it as "whose", I think there was a thread here a while back. Not of the argument changed my possibly wrong pronounciation, I find a pronounciation and keep it, right or wrong.

This is civic planning at it's worst when every street in a neighborhood has asimilar name or theme. "It's FAIR-something" would really get you confused in this area, especially the days before GPS.

I mostly just hate when companies are allowed to name a street. This isn't because of some anti-corporate sentiment, I think it just sounds dumb.

Shoptysons Boulevard
Ramada Road
Science Applications Court
Solutions Drive
Capital One Drive
Farm Credit Drive

All are stupid street names around Tysons.

I also think Tapawingo Rd. in Vienna sounds goofy.

Street names don't bother me. I am more annoyed by the signs you see for associations and subdivisions with the "nouveau riche" names on them.

Brambleton...
Dumbarton...

etc

I despise anything that uses prefixes or suffixes like manor, estate, green, etc in conjunction with some pretentious anme like Manchester, Wellington etc.

Kingstowne will always be Franconia Pits.

More,,

Down by Belle Haven Road and Fort Hunt there is a little neighborhood that has H,I, and like 10th, 11th etc.

It's a total anomally, doesn't seem to follow any pattern of anything in the county, and probably makes this nice little area sound on paper like it is in New York or something.

I might actually prefer some gayed up shit like Potomac Meadow Mews Reserve to this droll boredom.

Baltimore has some wacky street names.

Examples: West West Street (which becomes East West Street when it crosses Charles St.)

A short block connecting Park Ave. and Biddle St. is known as Parkbiddle. Not Parkbiddle St. Just Parkbiddle.

Up near Druid Hill Park is Auchentoroly Terrace. Try saying that five times.

Rainbow Rd. (Vienna)
North Shore (Reston) No beach anywhere close
Tapawingo (Vienna)
Everything that begins or ends with Dale in Dale City/Woodbridge
Iydlwood rd.

Also the fact that there are two williams ave. in vienna one near electric and iydlwood and one near park/luckett, the numbers coincide, but both of the williams ave do not connnect b/c of the bike trail

I'm thinking that it's probably called "North Shore", because it runs around the North shore of Lake Anne. However, it should at least changeover to "South Shore" at the intersection of "Temporary Road", if it wants to be correct. That brings up another issue, Temporary Road has been around permanently, so what gives?

HERE IS THE WINNER OF THE STREET NAMES:

BLOWING ROCK

This is a real street. It's located in the Mount Vernon area in a community called RIVERSIDE ESTATES which is right across from Mount Vernon H.S.

As a prank, some friends and myself took some green duck tape and taped over the "R" in ROCK and painted a different letter on it. Any guesses what that letter was?!?!?!?!?!?!? Friggin hillarious!!!!!!!!! It took a month before it was noticed and was finally removed!!!
