Let's see. What did the Redskins have enough of going into the off-season? QBs, RBs and TEs. What have they been in desperate need of? O-Lineman, Free Safeties, Corners and a #1 receiver.

What have the Redskins picked up so far? QBs, RBs, and TEs. Seriously, WTF???

As an Eagles fan, I say "So long, and thanks for all the fish." I was never a huge McNabb fan, but he was pretty good talent-wise, so I don't know what to make of this.

Good luck with your new QB, Skins fans.

And once again, the Redskins ignore the purpose of drafting rookie players and continue to use the same bullshit formula that has given them a losing record for years.

I think most fans would rather stick with Jason,,,for now

He's kind of fucked. They made him a tender offer, but it includes a 1st Round pick if a team wants him. I think the Skins are betting that there are teams desperate enough to be a contender this year that they would trade away a 1st Round pick for him. There are plenty of teams that could use him, including the 49ers, but I don't know how likely they are to part with a high pick.

The Steelers should pick him up as an insurance policy,,,,

He would be an upgrade for Jacksonville,Buffalo,Denver,Cleveland, the 49ers and possibly Carolina and Tampa Bay

He could be a backup for almost any team

The problem is "back up." I don't know who is going to give up a 1st round pick for a back-up QB. I mean, besides Snyder, of course. As for the teams you named, he would definitely be a better starter for the 49ers, Buffalo and probably Jacksonville. It seems like Tampa, Cleveland, Carolina and Denver believe they have starters for QB, so even if the guys they have don't work out during the season, I'm not sure how compelled they would be to trade a pick for a guy they don't plan to start.

I agree that Carolina, Tampa, Cleveland and Denver THINK they have their starting QB on the team already,,,,

I also dont think any team in the NFL will cough up a #1 pick, a #2 is probably the best the Redskins can hope to get.

I need someone to check this for me. Did the 'Skins recently hire Bruce Allen or (the dearly departed) George Allen? This looks a lot like George bringing in Billy Kilmer to replace Sonny to head up "The Over the Hill Gang"!

Of course, that actually kind of worked for a short period of time. (like maybe what Shanahan intendeds his tenure to be)

I will be watching from time to time on TV, instead of from the "friendly confines" of FedEx Field (Snyder will never again see (directly) a dollar that I might spend watching the Redslins)

From Peter King...

Albert Haynesworth's psyche. Profootballtalk.com reported this morning that Haynesworth, last year's bonus-baby prize in free-agency, was offered to the Eagles as part of the McNabb deal. There's already a chasm between Haynesworth and this coaching staff because he's not working out in the Redskins' offseason program (don't you think the least he could do, making $12-million a year, is work out with his mates in the program the team wants him in?), and you can be sure this news will percolate with him all offseason. It ought to be a pleasant summer camp between Haynesworth and Shanahan.

I figured this would be a bust. But so soon for a $100 Million fuck up?

I'm an Eagles fan, one who likes McNabb and thinks he takes alot of unfair criticism. I think the trade was dumb. They shoulda kept McNabb around for one more season.

But the Skins trading a draft pick for an older QB, that's kinda crazy. Makes me wonder if Cerrato is hiding up in the front office somewhere.

I love how they tried to mix Haynesworth into the deal. Like "here, take this fat load, too, while you are at it!"

As far as the unfair criticism of McNabb, I agree. How many other QBs have the Eagles had that have done what McNabb did while he was there? The answer would be "none."

This only makes sense, though, if they bring in a "QB of the Future" to learn behind McNabb. While Tebow at 4 would give me a stroke, it wouldn't shock me given how things have been going.

This has all the feeling of personnel decisions by committee. I think everyone on the triumvirate is getting who he wants with little consideration for how it plays out from a team dynamic.

Alex Smith is a flop. The guy has heart, but not the physical skills needed to be a good QB in the NFL.

Well looking at this from a positive perspective, as far as the RBs are concerned, the Redskins saved money by releasing Betts and Cartwright and signing two proven backs. They may be past their prime, but they're low risk, high reward moves. I like the chances of one having a good year and splitting carries with Shannahan's zone blocking I like it; and everyone knows RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL.

On to the QB, everyone says the Redskins better not draft one with the 4th pick and draft a lineman which they probably will. I still believe the only legit qb in the draft is Bradford who might very well not be there at pick 4. So we get an all-pro qb who was a pro-bowler last year. Everyone says he's old, but he's younger than Peyton Manning and the same age as Tom Brady and last I checked those organizations are very happy with their QB. He'll have at least one year hear with a chip on his shoulder and I believe we'll have him for 3 years.

And to the person above that said most fans would rather have Campbell, HA. Campbell will likely be traded and I have no doubt he'll be a great pro, but it just wasn't meant to be in Washington. Still got 5 months to get a O-line and address other needs, and I firmly believe Bruce Allen and Shanahan know exactly what they're doing right now.

Shanahan didn't use old RBs who were past their prime in Denver. He used guys who were young, who were usually picked up later in the draft or traded from other teams. What the Skins need at RB is speed. If the zone blocking works, you don't need the experience. You need someone who is explosive. Sorry, but Portis, Johnson and Parker are no longer explosive.

It looks like Shanny is going for a power running game at this point. Don't be surprised if they get Flozel Adams and a tackle in the draft.
However, I agree that they need speed at RB, especially in the "West Coast Offense".
We really haven't had/used a fast RB for a while. We had Aldridge (who was supposedly really fast), but we never used him. Portis may have been fast early on, but he's pretty used up now.

It seems like the zone blocking relies on speed, though. The stretch is a big component of it. And the holes are opened based on what the o-linemen read, not necessarily on the play called, so you have to have an RB who can see the hole and hit it quickly. Portis has been notorious for missing holes in recent years. Of the three, I have a feeling Parker may be the one with the most to offer at this point. I really think Johnson is done. Portis has some value in a Westbrook-type role and in blocking.

Anderson served in the Marines and was nearly 30 when he entered the NFL. He had fresh legs when he started and he still had only two good years under Shanahan. The other years he was injury prone.

According to ESPN 980, several teams are interested in Campbell's services -- the Bills, Raiders, Panthers, and Jaguars (plus an "unknown team") are reportedly in line to make offers.

I wonder if that "unknown team" has a starting QB who doesn't know he won't be the starting QB next season. Seattle, maybe?

Jason Campbell will go onto the SB as other former Skins QBs Brad Johnson and Rich Gannon. He will serve as a caretake QB on a team with a good line and a running game and a badas D. Panthers fit that mold.

How can the Raiders possibly put together a decent team when no one wants to play there?
I've never heard of a situation like that before, where absolutely no players want to play on a particular team. Al Davis should sell the team while they still have some semblance of worth.

You mean lollygag around instead of hurrying up when you are about to lose a Superbowl, and then blowing it? Yup, you're right. No other Eagles QB ever did that. Of course I blame Reid for that, though. Guy manages a clock like Rich Kotite.

Even Jaws in 1981 was hopelessly outmatched by the fourth quarter, unlike McNabb he really didn't have a chance against the superior Raiders.

Like I said, I've never been the boggest McNabb fan, but I admit he has talent. I can't believe the Eagles didn't get more for him, especially sending him to a division rival. My guess is they were doing him a favor by not sending him to Seatle or some some other jerkwater nowhere team in a jerkwater division.

Actually they would have done him a favor by sending him to Seattle because the NFC West is going to be wide open again this year. The Division Champ could be 9-7 out there.

I said it here months ago when the Eagles started shopping him, I like the idea of McNabb and I think we paid fairly for him.

He's quicker on his feet then Campbell. He's checks and passes quicker than Campbell. He seems smarter than Campbell. He has better leadership skills than Campbell, I would compare Campbell to Eli and McNabb to Peyton for contrast. Players will listen to McNabb.

I fucking hate Snyder, because he treats us fans like battered women every year, makes us think he is going to change and gives us hope. Well, I'll admit I've got the hope again. I'm not one of these clowns who'll text CSN Washington Post Live to say "skinz r going 2 super bowl45 baby!", but I think we'll see some good games this year at least.

It's all Zorn's fault.

Always trust Vegas. The Redskins odds did go up, but it isn't exactly good news. =P

Instead of being a 55 to 1 shot for the Superbowl, now they're a kickass 28 to 1 shot.

The skins will do better than before, but it's still not going to help. The only way you can explain their performance for the past few years, with multiple coaches, is a combination of Snyder fucking things up and the players just not giving a shit.

I agree. It's kind of hard for me to like McNabb a whole lot right now though, given how often I rooted against him.
