WBJ says another assian supermarket called 99 ranch
The city of Fairfax is getting a new grocery option in 99 Ranch Market, a popular Asian grocery store from the West Coast that includes a food court.
99 Ranch will open in a 54,000 square foot space at 10780 Fairfax Blvd. that previously housed Super H Mart, another Asian grocery store.
In fact, there’s a bit of grocery musical chairs going on in Fairfax: The reason the former Super H Mart space was available was because it moved into a 60,000-square-foot former Giant grocery store space at Jermantown Road and U.S. Route 50.
Giant closed that store in 2018 in preparation for a brand new Giant at Scout on the Circle, a Combined Properties development. Combined and Giant recently began construction on the 54,000-square-foot store at 9500 Fairfax Blvd.
The Super H Mart is expected to open Oct. 18. 99 Ranch Market recently filed building permits to renovate the former Super H store.
99 Ranch Market has more than 50 stores in the U.S., most of them in California and on the West Coast. The chain more recently started branching into the East Coast, and has one location in Gaithersburg and three in the New York tri-state area.
The Fairfax store will include a food court element, with individual tenants operating stalls selling dishes that can be eaten in-house or taken to go, including a possible bakery, hot sandwich shop, specialty drinks counter and a vegan deli. 99 Ranch is seeking tenants for its food halls on its website.
But 99 Ranch isn’t the only market with a food hall coming to Fairfax. Super H also applied for a food hall with six vendors, including a French bakery, according to a Fairfax County spokesperson. That store also applied for a license to serve beer.
Earlier this week, Whole Foods Market said that it planned to have a food hall element to its new store at The Boro in Tysons as well.
